Wharfedale's thunderous PowerCube series is a complete sub-woofer solution for virtually any system or budget. Every model has an giant internal power amplifier capable of producing truly extended sub-sonics with total precision and clarity. The addition of a sub-woofer will add weight and authority to any stereo system, extending the frequency response much further than conventional bass drivers. With the Wharfedale PowerCube, the built-in amplifier is engineered to provide a powerful response at these frequencies, while a continuously variable crossover provides seamless integration with the other speakers in the system. All models offer a phase adjustment for perfect matching of the sound. When set up, the sub is not just unobtrusive, it's an elegant and solid piece of furniture, with a choice of styles and finishes that will match easily with any interior dcor and your existing system. In a multi-channel system, a sub is essential to handle the 'LFE' or Low Frequency Effects channel of Dolby Digital or DTS sound. The Powercube provides the impact and dynamics to really bring the soundtrack to life without ever sounding boomy or woolley. Most models in the range offer an awesome 100WRMS power module whereas the larger PC-12A and PC DX models feature a gargantuan 150WRMS amplifier. The entry-level PC-8 and PC-10 models include a phase reversal switch and, as with all models, have high and low level inputs, so you can use them even if your amplifier doesn't have RCA outputs. The PC-8A, PC-10A and PC-12A models feature an automatic power facility, LS speaker terminals and phase reversal switch. The top-of-the-range DX models include a high-quality real wood veneer finish, auto power system, four way phase adjust, 8 LS speaker terminals and a Euro power cable.
It is accepted wisdom, that although bass is theoretically 'directionless', subwoofers are better used in pairs. This gives a much more 'even' sound-field.
