Safety

The new Golf Plus is not only practical and versatile, but it also offers intelligence too, as demonstrated by its first class safety specification designed to help you manage such occurrences as bad weather, sharp bends and tight parking spaces. From curtain, front and side impact airbags to an Electronic Stabilisation Programme, these active and passive safety features help make every journey as safe as possible for all the occupants of the new Golf Plus. The front (ventilated) and rear disc brakes deliver excellent thermal performance, even if there is a sharp rise in the temperature of the brakes. Front head restraints are heightadjustable and safety-optimised, so that in the event of a collision, the distance between the head and head restraint is reduced, thereby minimising the risk of whiplash injuries.

In the event of poor visibility, the front fog lights and static corner lighting provide better illumination of the road ahead and are thus highly recommended for maximum safety.
All five seats in the new Golf Plus feature three-point automatic seat belts. In the front, the seat belts are height-adjustable and fitted with belt For even greater safety, you can add a side airbag system for the rear passengers. tensioners, which are designed to react within milliseconds to the airbags trigger mechanisms.
A curtain airbag system, front seat side impact airbags and airbags for the driver and front passenger are provided as standard in the new Golf Plus. The combined curtain airbag system for the driver and front passenger is deployed by crash sensors in the event of an accident to cushion the upper body and minimise the risk of injury. If a collision is registered, the airbag control device ignites the gas generator, which fills the airbags within 30 to 40 milliseconds. It goes without saying that the front passenger airbag can be deactivated, which is essential, if you wish to fit a child seat on the front passenger seat.

Fastening seat belts before every journey is a vital safety precaution the seat belt warning buzzer and light for the driver and front passenger ensures you dont forget this necessary measure, even on short journeys.
The Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP), with counter-steering assistance, prevents the vehicle going out of control in critical driving situations by intervening instantaneously in the brake and engine management systems and controlling the speed of individual wheels. Engines and gearboxes

Volkswagens ground-breaking engine and gearbox technology ensures exceptional performance. A choice of some of the most innovative engines available means you can look forward to driving a car delivering the ultimate sporty drive, yet still offering great fuel economy and environmental credentials.
Available as a five speed or six speed manual, these gearboxes transmit power with short, accurate shifts and very smooth handling, making it easy to drive at the right engine speed.
The combination of direct fuel injection and intelligent turbocharging technology enables petrol engines with TSI technology to work particularly efficiently, offering such advantages as high performance, high torque and reduced fuel consumption. The TSI engine features a sophisticated turbocharger, resulting in excellent driveability and performance throughout the range. The 1.4 litre 122 PS TSI engine can accelerate the new Golf Plus to 62 mph in The dual clutch Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) represents a milestone in the development of the latest gearbox technology. This innovative automatic gearbox from Volkswagen shifts smoothly and imperceptibly into the pre-selected next gear. Such extremely short reaction times and direct response behaviour make dynamic acceleration twice as much fun. Depending on the engine specification, the six or seven speed gearbox is not only highly dynamic, but also fuel efficient.

The TDI diesel engine with common rail technology is a highly efficient and quiet combustion engine, combining exceptional economy with impressive pulling power and smooth running. The 2.0 litre 110 PS TDI engine is capable of achieving 55.4 mpg on the Combined cycle, while producing only 134 g/km of CO2, yet can accelerate the new Golf Plus to a top speed of 117 mph where the law permits.

To convert from metric to imperial horsepower, divide the PS figure by 1.0139. Figures are calculated in accordance with manufacturers criteria. The individual unladen weight depends on the specification of the vehicle, this then reduces the possible payload accordingly. With increasing altitude the engine performance diminishes. From 1,000 m above sea level and for every 1,000 m thereafter 10% of the vehicle/trailer weight (trailer weight + gross vehicle weight) must be deducted. Thanks to the knock control, unleaded four star (at least 95 RON) can be used instead of unleaded Super plus. The LongLife Service is recommended for vehicles with a daily mileage of more than 25 miles where the vehicle is driven
regularly mainly on longer distance journeys. The vehicle is driven mainly at a constant speed with minimum vehicle and engine loading, minimal towing and driven in an economical manner. With the LongLife Service the vehicle can cover anywhere between 10,000 and a maximum of 18,000 miles or 24 months (whichever is soonest) between oil changes. Inspection service is typically in the third year of ownership and thereafter every second year, for vehicles with an approximate annual mileage of 10,000 miles. Active safety.

Active safety features are designed to help prevent an accident in the first place and include a sensor-controlled Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) that reacts in milliseconds to critical driving situations by controlling the speed of individual wheels, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to help prevent wheels from locking in an emergency braking situation, and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) to help maximise the braking effort. In addition, under emergency braking the hazard lights are automatically activated. 01 Disc brakes all round, the front with interior ventilation, ensure optimum brake power at anytime. 02 The Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) detects critical situations and reacts in milliseconds by controlling the speed of individual wheels. 03 The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) prevents the wheels from locking, even under severe braking. 04 Fog lights are located in the front bumper for additional safety in situations of poor visibility. Passive safety.

Passive safety features are designed to minimise injury in the event of an accident. The rigid bodyshell is immensely strong and can absorb extremely high impact energy, protecting the driver and passengers within an inner safety cell. There are whiplash-optimised front head restraints which help minimise whiplash injuries in the event of an impact from the rear, three-point seat belts for all seats and an abundance of airbags, including two front, two front side impact and two curtain airbags. There is also an audible and visual reminder to wear a seat belt if the drivers or front seat passengers seat belt is unfastened. With so much protection, its good to know its not only you who can depend on the Golf Plus, but anyone who encounters it.

Drive the Golf Plus and youll benefit from the very latest engine technology. A choice of six different engines enables you to select the option that best suits your requirements. TSI technology provides exciting additions to the range that combine both power and economy. TSI is the name given to Volkswagens twincharged or singlecharged petrol engines with direct petrol injection. The basic features common to all TSI engines are the downsizing concept, direct injection and turbocharging. This innovative engineering results in high tech engines with excellent torque and power output combined with low fuel consumption. Incorporated into the TSI engines is FSI technology, whereby fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber under high pressure. The benefit of this method is that it only burns the exact amount of fuel required helping to reduce fuel consumption and boost performance. The 1.4 litre 122 PS engine has been developed with power and maximum efficiency as priorities. Based on the original 1.4 TSI engine, which combined a supercharger and turbocharger, the TSI engine utilises only a sophisticated turbocharger. The result is an exceptional engine offering an impressive output of 122 PS with significantly improved fuel consumption, linked to a choice of either a six speed manual or seven speed DSG automatic gearbox. Exceptional fuel economy is the result of the 1.4 TSIs increased torque, which delivers an incredible 200 Nm at 1,500 rpm while achieving a very impressive 42.8 mpg on the Combined cycle* and a CO2 The DSG gearbox offers a genuine alternative to a manual gearbox because it is able to change gear faster than a manual gearbox and more smoothly than a conventional automatic. Additional specifications can lead to a higher weight class and hence to consumption figures of this higher weight class. The driving style, road and traffic conditions, environmental influences and vehicle condition can in practice lead to consumption figures, which may differ from those calculated with this standard. The weight of a vehicle will influence the level of CO2 emission it produces; as a result, vehicles with higher levels of specification and factory-fitted options may emit higher levels of CO2.

All Volkswagen Golf Plus come with a three-year/60,000 miles warranty, which protects your car against the failure of most mechanical and electrical components due to manufacturing defects. This comprises a two-year manufacturers warranty with unlimited mileage plus a further one-year/60,000 miles (whichever is soonest) Retailer Warranty. Should the mileage exceed 60,000 miles within the first two years, the manufacturers two-year warranty will still be valid. If an additional warranty for subsequent years or higher mileage is desired, it may be purchased from an authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer; however, this additional warranty must be purchased before the mileage reaches 60,000*. Service Intervals.

Volkswagen are pleased to offer you a choice on how your Golf Plus is serviced. The appropriate selection is entirely dependent on how the car is likely to be driven and its general use. To help you identify which type of service would be most suitable, please refer to the following guide. The Time and Distance Service is recommended for vehicles that will cover less than 10,000 miles in 12 months and if the vehicle is likely to be used in the following way: Predominantly urban driving, short journeys with frequent cold starts. Activities regularly producing high engine loading, e.g. frequent hill climbs, driving with vehicle fully loaded and towing. Uneconomical driving style using high rpms with heavy acceleration and heavy braking.
