| I received a 98 Toyota Corolla for my first car while I was still in high school. Even though Toyotas are known for their great attributes like good gas mileage. Toyota Corolla was the car in which I learned driving. I bought the car at around 85K miles and added another 20K to it. | |

| The Toyota Corrola verso is a great car, really pleased with it. Economical, reliable and great looking. Was persuaded by a friend to buy one of these awful cars. Opted for a W reg with 60k miles and a fsh. The car is ugly, uninspiring and bland. The ride quality on the Toyota Corolla Verso is soft but the wheels are suprisingly deep in the arch. This makes the car bodyroll more than it should. | |

Corolla
The worlds all-time best-selling automobile, the Toyota Corolla, was introduced in Japan in 1966 and the U.S. in 1968. Forty years later, this popular economy car is still attracting a million customers a year. Cumulative U.S. sales surpassed 7 million Corollas; worldwide, the total exceeds 30 million. By 1982, with cumulative worldwide production at almost ten million units, Corolla was being sold in 116 countries. In the U.S., Toyota joined General Motors in re-opening an older plant in Fremont, California in 1984, creating the New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI). NUMMI became the first U.S. manufacturing site for the popular Corolla, with production beginning in 1987. The exterior styling of the 1998 Corolla registered a lower drag coefficient than a Supra Turbo. The first models offered in the U.S. were subcompacts equipped with a 1.1-liter, four-cylinder SOHV engine. Toyota upgraded the Corolla in 1970, adding more room and the power of 1.2-and 1.6-liter engines. In the mid-1970s, Corolla became the best selling automobile in the world. The five millionth Corolla rolled off the production line in June 1976. In 1984, Toyota introduced the Corolla coupe equipped with a four cylinder, 16valve DOHC engine. Dubbed the GT-S, it offered the highest performance of any Corolla model, and remained in production until 1991. By 1988, with the introduction of the fifth generation, all Corollas except three-door hatchbacks had front- or four-wheel drive. The model mix then included three-door hatchbacks and FXs, four-door sedans and five-door wagons. The sixth-generation Corolla, launched in 1993, was the first with a drivers side airbag, and offered with 1.6-and 1.8-liter engines. The new, larger Corolla was reclassified as a compact, taking the spot vacated by the 1992 Camrys move to mid-size. A passenger-side airbag was added in 1994.
The 1997 model was equipped with side-impact protection to meet strict federal crash standards. The wagon model was discontinued and a new Classic Edition was introduced. In 1998, a new 120-horsepower 1.8-liter engine dubbed the 1ZZ-FE powered the all-new Corolla. Continuing Corollas safety developments, the 1998 model included dual airbags and front seatbelts with pretensioners and force-limiters working in concert with Toyotas Passive Safety Body to meet or exceed then current and foreseeable safety standards worldwide. An optional Sports Package added a front sway bar, colorkeyed mudguards, rocker panel extensions and white-faced gauges. In 2000, Corollas power was improved by adding VVTi variable-valve technology that increased engine horsepower from 120 to 125 without sacrificing fuel economy. The use of VVTi also lowered emissions, enabling Corolla to become EPA-certified as a Low Emission Vehicle. The 2001 Corolla received new exterior styling and was equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission. A new S-grade provided a sporty image with front grille and protective body side moldings and bucket seats. The S and LE grades were available with four-speed ECT automatic transmission. The 2001 Corolla was the first Toyota model to offer a safety inside-trunk release. The 2003 Corolla marked this models ninth generation. It was powered by a 1.8liter 2ZZ dual overhead cam engine and six-speed manual transmission, delivering 170 horsepower

Plus, the CD player will play back WMA or MP3 CDs and allow you to browse or shuffle within a selected folder or the entire CD. The available upgraded audio system1 can be controlled by its head unit interface or the steering wheel-mounted controls, and offers a USB2 port, so you can put music on a flash drive. I know it gets the MPG, but what about the LOLs?
Corolla is as fun as it is frugal. Sure, it gets great gas mileage. Corollas known for that. But with an advanced Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) engine, it also knows what to do with all those miles. Contributing to Corollas responsiveness are innovations like Electric Power Steering (EPS) that lessens engine load and Electronic Throttle Control for precise acceleration. With Corollas spirit-lifting performance you may, indeed, nd yourself laughing out loud. Engine power
The 2011 Corolla is powered by an aluminum-alloy 1.8-liter 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. Incorporating lightweight pistons and a cooling water jacket spacer surrounding the cylinder walls, the design allows the engine to be lighter and more compact. Yet, while smaller, the engine still produces a spirited 132 hp and 128 lb.-ft. of torque. Its efficient operation comes courtesy of Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). VVT-i automatically adjusts valve timing across the engines full range of operation to maintain maximum power and achieve an EPAestimated 28 city/35 highway mpg rating.1, 2
Rened suspension
Corollas impeccable road manners begin with its rigid chassis. Built to resist body flex, it provides a reliable platform so that the suspension can best do its job. The front suspension, mounted to an additional sub-frame to reduce noise and vibration, is tuned for precision handling. In back, the rear suspension employs a torsion-type design that further smooths the ride quality.

How is Corolla designed to help protect me?
At Toyota, your safety is what drives us. Thats why weve given Corolla an impressive list of active and passive safety features as standard equipment. From systems designed to help you avoid accidents to those that can help protect you should a collision occur, Corolla takes your safety seriously.
What kind of safety features does it provide?
Corolla comes standard with the Star Safety System. This integration of active safety features is designed to protect occupants by helping drivers avoid accidents in the rst place. The 2011 Star Safety System includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC),1 Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA)2 and Smart Stop Technology (SST).3
Active Headrests
Corolla comes standard with active headrests in the front seats that help maintain the occupants head position in the event of certain lower-speed, rear-end collisions.
1. See footnote 13 in Disclaimers section. 2. See footnote 3 in Disclaimers section. 3. See footnote 14 in Disclaimers section. 4. See footnote 16 in Disclaimers section.
SMART STOP TECHNOLOGY (SST)1 When both brake and accelerator pedals are pressed at the same time under certain conditions, Smart Stop Technology is designed to automatically reduce engine power to help bring the vehicle to a stop. Yet another safety feature thats standard on all 2011 Corolla models.
Photo not intended to replicate actual inflated airbags.
CRUMPLE ZONES Front and rear energyabsorbing crumple zones and a collapsible steering column are designed to help dissipate impact forces in a collision and help protect occupants.
SIX AIRBAGS2 Driver and front passenger advanced airbags, front seatmounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and front and rear side curtain airbags are all standard.
LATCH SYSTEM Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) help to secure child safety seats for improved safety and ease of use.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM (TPMS)3
3-POINT SEATBELTS
Two logic systems determine tire pressure. If its seriously low, an indicator lamp on the instrument panel illuminates to alert you.
Corolla provides 3-point seatbelts with pretensioners for all seating positions, while the front seats are equipped with the added safety of 2-step force limiters.

All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See your Owners Manual for further information/warnings. 16. Active front headrests can help reduce the extent of whiplash in certain types of rear-end collisions. 17. The Toyota Tire Pressure Monitor alerts the driver when tire pressure is critically low. For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge; do not rely solely on the monitor system. See your Owners Manual for details. 18. The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. When you insert your key into the ignition switch, the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key matches the code in the vehicles immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key, your Toyota dealer can help, or you can find a qualified independent locksmith to replace your key or perform high-security key services at www.aloa.org 19. Performance of BLU Logic compatible phones will vary based on phone software version, coverage, and your wireless carrier. See www.blulogicupdate.com for more details. 20. Interface kit for iPod not available if vehicle is equipped with XM Radio services. 21. This floor mat was designed specifically for use in your model and model year vehicle and SHOULD NOT be used in any other vehicle. To avoid potential interference with pedal operation, each mat must be secured with retention hooks/clips. Do not install a floor mat on top of an existing floor mat. 22. Available for vehicles with factory security.
Some vehicles are shown with available equipment. Seatbelts should be worn at all times. For details on vehicle specifications, standard features and available equipment in your area, contact your Toyota dealer. A vehicle with particular equipment may not be available at the dealership. Ask your Toyota dealer to help locate a specifically equipped vehicle.
