Quick Installation
Your M-Audio MidAir wireless MIDI system is class compliant. This means that if you are using Windows XP or Mac OS X, you can simply connect the MidAir receiver to your computer, power up the computer, MidAir transmitter, and keyboard controller, and youre ready to go. No drivers are required. However, Windows users who intend to use the MidAir wireless MIDI system with more than one application at the same time should install the special M-Audio drivers for best performance.
Installation Instructions for Windows XP
PLEASE NOTE: Do not connect the MidAir receiver to your computer until the M-Audio driver les have been installed. The following instructions will indicate when you should connect the receiver to your computer. If you have already connected the MidAir Receiver to your computer, disconnect it before beginning the installation.
2. We recommend that you download the most recent MidAir drivers by going to the Support > Drivers page at www.m-audio.com. This ensures that you have the newest drivers available. If you do not have Internet access, insert the M-Audio MidAir Series CD-ROM into your computer to install the drivers that came with the MidAir. a. If you are installing drivers from the MidAir Series CD-ROM, the computer will automatically display the interactive install screen ( 1 ) when the CD-ROM is inserted. If your computer fails to launch this application, you can manually start it by clicking on Start > My Computer > MidAir Series. Next, select your product from the menu and click Install.
b. If you are installing drivers from www.m-audio. com, simply double-click the le once it has nished downloading.
3. Follow the driver installers on-screen instructions. 4. At various points in this installation process, you may be notied that the driver being installed has not passed Windows Logo Testing. Click Continue Anyway to proceed with the installation. 5. Once the installer has completed, click Finish. 6. Attach the MidAir receiver to an available USB port.
MidAir Quick Start Guide 7. Windows will identify the receiver and will ask if you want to search the Internet for a driver. Select No, not this time and press Next ( 2 ).
8. Windows will display a Found New Hardware Wizard ( 3 ).
9. Choose Install software automatically and click Next. 10. Once the Wizard has completed, click Finish. 11. Once the installation is complete, you will see a message pop up stating, Your new hardware is installed and ready to use.
Linking the MidAir Transmitter and Receiver
Your MidAir transmitter and receiver are linked at the factory and should be ready to go right out of the box. In a small number of cases, the transmitter and the receiver may not automatically connect upon startup. In this case, the Wireless Connection Status LED on each unit will not illuminate. If this happens, simply press the wireless connect buttons on both units and allow the two to connect. Once a link is established, the Wireless Connect Status LEDs will illuminate, and youre ready to go.
Host and Standalone Modes
Host Mode When operating your MidAir system in host mode (with a computer), youll need to congure your audio software to receive MIDI data from the MidAir receiver. For more detailed information about computer-based operation, refer to the MidAir User Manual found on the M-Audio CD-ROM. Standalone Mode When using the MidAir system in Standalone Mode (without a computer), you must make sure the Standalone Mode Switch is set properly. Refer to the User Manual found on the M-Audio CD-ROM for more information about this switch.

Quick Start Guide
Your M-Audio MidAir 25/37 wireless MIDI controller is class-compliant. This means that if you are using Windows XP or Mac OS X, you can simply connect the MidAir receiver to your computer, power up the computer and keyboard controller, and youre ready to gono drivers required. However, we recommend that Windows users install M-Audio drivers when they intend to: (1) use MidAir 25/37 with more than one application at the same time, (2) use long SysEx (system exclusive) commands, or (3) simultaneously use other class-compliant USB devices with audio capabilities. These drivers can be downloaded from www.m-audio.com under the Support > Drivers page.
Installation Instructions for Windows XP (optional)
PLEASE NOTE: Make sure the MidAir receiver is disconnected from your computer when the M-Audio drivers are being installed. The following instructions will indicate when you should connect the receiver to your computer. 1. Quick Installation - Windows XP / Mac OS X
Linking the Keyboard and Receiver
Your MidAir keyboard and receiver are linked at the factory and should be ready to use right out of the box. In a small number of cases, the keyboard and the receiver may not automatically connect when both are powered on for the rst time. If this happens, the Wireless Connection Status LED found on each of the two units will ash and eventually turn off. To resolve this issue, simply press the wireless connect buttons on the receiver and the keyboard and allow the two units to connect wirelessly. Once a link is established, the Wireless Connect Status LEDs will stay illuminated, and youll be ready to go.
Using MidAir in Host and Standalone Modes
Standalone Mode
When using the MidAir system in standalone mode (without a computer), you must make sure the receivers Standalone Mode switch is set properly. The default setting auto works best for most purposes. However, you can manually congure the receiver to use only the physical MIDI input jack or only the wireless MIDI port by setting the Standalone Mode switch accordingly Refer to the User Manual found on the MidAir Series CD-ROM for more information about using MidAir in standalone mode.
Host Mode
When operating your MidAir system in host mode (with a computer), youll need to congure your audio software to receive MIDI data from the MidAir receiver. Your software will detect two MidAir MIDI input ports: < < The rst port is the wireless MIDI input. Select this input to receive MIDI data from your MidAir keyboard. The second port is the wired 5-pin MIDI input. Select this input to receive data from any MIDI device that is connected to the receivers 5-pin MIDI input.
Note that in host mode, the Standalone Mode switch does not affect the MidAir receivers operation in any way (the switch is only active in standalone mode). For more detailed information about computer-based operation, refer to the User Manual found on the MidAir Series CD-ROM.

Just plug the battery-powered transmitter into the MIDI Out port on your controller of choice and connect the receiver to the MIDI In port on the device you&rsquo,d like to control, and you&rsquo,re set. As a 2.4 GHz wireless device, the MidAir enables you to interface MIDI hardware at distances up to 30 feet with the same feel and response as a wired unit. The MidAir receiver includes a USB port and functions as a class-compliant 1 x 1 MIDI interface, so you can also wirelessly control soft synths from your favorite MIDI controller.
