Novation Automap DAW Setup Guide
Logic (9.01 and later) Setup This guide will guide you through how to set up your Automap controller ready to control Logic 9, its mixer, native plug-ins and transport. For information on how to control them, see the Automap user guide.
To use your SL with Logic 9 please make sure you have the Automap Template 38 selected. Controlling Logic's native instruments and plugins (requires Logic 9.01 or higher) As Logic's native instruments and plug-ins are a special type of plug-in, Automap can communicate directly to and from them. There is no set up required to control the parameters. Controlling 3rd party plug-ins All 3rd party AU plug-ins in Logic will need to be wrapped by Automap to control them. For more information on wrapping plug-ins and how to control them see the Automap user guide. Controlling Logic's Mixer In order to control the mixer in Logic, you need to set up Logic for HUI control. To do this: 1. In the Automap Server, under Settings, make sure Use Automap HUI is checked.
2. Click Setup under Logic > Preferences > Control Surfaces
3. Click Install under the New menu.
4. Select the row Mackie Designs / HUI / HUI, then click Add.
5. Under Out Port, select Automap HUI.
6. Under Input, select Automap HUI as well.
7. Click on Environment under the Window menu.
8. Select Click & Ports.
9. Create a new Monitor object under the New menu.
10. Identify Port 2, Port 3, Automap Propellerhead and Automap HUI of the Remote SL and connect them as follows:
Please note: Logic environment settings are stored in the project file, therefore each time you create a new project, you will need to set up the Click & Ports as above.

Novation Automap DAW Setup Guide
Ableton Live - This guide will show you how to set up a ReMOTE SL ready to control Ableton Live, its mixer, transport and native devices. For information on how to control them, see the Automap user guide. For information on controlling 3rd party plug-ins, see the end of this guide.
Controlling Live To control Lives mixer, transport and devices, you will need to use the Automap Live template (template 40). Then, take the following steps: 1. Go into Live Preferences:
For Mac:
For PC:
2. Select the MIDI Sync tab
3. Select RemoteSL as the Control Surface.
4. Select ReMOTE SL (Port 2) as the Input. (Note: depending on operating system, some of the MIDI ports name may appear differently, however the Remote SL always has three MIDI ports, therefore select the second port.)
5. Select ReMOTE SL (Port 2) as the Output (or equivalent port 2 as above.)
6. Make sure the MIDI Ports (or equivalent Remote SL MIDI Ports) are set as follows:
Note: If your transport controls are not working in Ableton Live whilst using the Automap Live template, make sure Automap HUI is unchecked in the Automap settings menu.
Controlling 3rd party plug-ins in Live The Live Automap template (template 40) will only map 3rd party plug-in parameters to the top row of encoders and buttons, and editing the Live template is not supported. For these reasons, all 3rd party plug-ins in Live should be wrapped by Automap for the best control over them. The Automap Universal template (template 38) should then be used for control of 3rd party plug-ins. For more information on wrapping plug-ins and how to control them please see the Automap user guide.
