Only use the power plug and the charging stand provided to charge the razor. The power plug transforms 100-240 AC volts to less than 24V DC. An adaptor plug may be necessary for cord usage in some foreign countries.Your new razor will automatically convert internally to work on 100V to 240V AC systems.
For hygienic reasons, always replace the shaving conditioner cartridge each time you start using a new bottle of NIVEA FOR MEN shaving conditioner. A new cartridge is supplied with each new shaving conditioner bottle. Use this appliance for its intended household use as described in this manual.

Introduction

The NIVEA FOR MEN conditioner dispensing system applies shaving conditioner directly on your skin for a moisturizing and soothing shave. The formula is enriched with vitamins and chamomile to condition your skin for a healthy look. The Glide Rings on the shaving heads distribute the unique NIVEA FOR MEN shaving conditioner evenly over the skin, offering an even smoother and closer shave, causing less skin irritation and leaving your skin feeling refreshed.

Before First Use
Charge and fill the razor before you start using it (see Charging & Filling Razor Cartridge sections). Important Only use this razor, power plug, charging stand and HS800 NIVEA FOR MEN shaving conditioner to refill or charge razor.

Charging Razor

Charging or recharging at temperatures below 40F or higher than 95F adversely affects lifetime of batteries. Do not charge razor in a pouch.
Charging and recharging requires a full 8 hours. A fully charged razor has a shaving time of up to 30 minutes. For hygienic reasons, it is advised that you use a new shaving conditioner cartridge on your razor when starting a new shaving conditioner refill bottle. 3
Remove the power plug from outlet as soon as the battery is fully charged.

Filling Razor Cartridge

Only use NIVEA FOR MEN Shaving Conditioner to refill the shaving conditioner cartridge. Any other lotion may cause damage to your razor. Remove the tab of the NIVEA FOR MEN Shaving Conditioner bottle (Model HS800).
Placing or removing razor from charging stand:

Turn the cap on the shaving conditioner bottle clockwise. The cap moves down and the shaving conditioner nozzle appears. Place the nozzle of the conditioner bottle into the opening of the conditioner cartridge on the back of the razor. Move the bottle up and down approximately 5 times to pump the shaving conditioner into the cartridge until you see that the shaving cartridge is full. Do not fill the cartridge beyond the MAX indication.

The shaving conditioner button only works when the razor is switched ON. If razor does not dispense shaving conditioner, dried shaving conditioner may be blocking the conditioner holes. Thoroughly clean razor (see Cleaning section). Gently move the shaving heads over your skin. Shave against the direction of beard growth using both straight and circular motions. Razor Head Assembly: After Each Use
It is recommended that you clean the Razor Head Assembly thoroughly after each use to maintain optimal shaving performance. 1 Press the on/off button to turn razor ON. R inse Razor Head Assembly under hot tap water by letting the water run in and around all the openings for at least 30 seconds.
Note: If lotion build-up has occurred, remove Razor Head Assembly and soak for a few minutes under hot water or a degreasing liquid (e.g. alcohol). Be sure to thoroughly rinse Razor Head Assembly under tap water before using razor.
Razor Head Assembly: Once A Month
Do not mix up the cutters and combs as the shaving performance may be adversely affected for several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored.

Turn razor OFF. Remove Razor Head Assembly from razor by pulling Razor Head Assembly straight up from razor.
You can also immerse the Razor Head Assembly in hot water for at least 30 seconds. Make sure the razor is ON to thoroughly remove any residue.
BE CAREFUL TO TEST WATER FIRST SO AS NOT TO BURN OR SCALD HANDS.
Using your thumb and forefinger turn the razor head clockwise and lift the comb off of Razor Head Assembly. Remove and clean one set of cutters and combs at a time.
4 Turn razor OFF and shake off excess water.
Do not clean more than one cutter and comb at a time, since they are all matching sets. If you accidentally interchange the cutters and combs, it could take several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored. 5 Separate the cutter from the comb and clean with a small brush or rinse clean under hot water. Replace the cutter back onto the Razor Head Assembly making sure the blades are pointing upwards.

Replacing Cartridges

For hygienic reasons, it is recommended to replace the shaving conditioner cartridge each time you start a new shaving conditioner bottle. A new empty cartridge is supplied with each new NIVEA FOR MEN Shaving Conditioner bottle (Model HS800).
Shaving Conditioner Cartridge
Remove the shaving conditioner cartridge from the back of razor.

Place the razor head comb back onto the Razor Head Assembly. Be sure to replace the comb back into the original razor head before cleaning the next set. Turn the razor head counterclockwise until it locks into place. Repeat the process for the other two sets of cutters and combs.
Insert the hinge at the top of the new shaving conditioner cartridge into the slot in the rim of the razor back (1). Then press the bottom part of the cartridge with your thumb (2) to attach the cartridge to the razor. You will hear a click. The shaving conditioner cartridge is now ready to be filled (see Filling Razor Cartridge section).

Replace Razor Head Assembly back on razor and push down (you will hear a click). The Razor Head Assembly will only fit correctly in one position on razor. Make sure to align the 2 shaving lotion dispensing holes on the Razor Head Assembly with the 2 shaving lotion tubes on the razor.
Replacing Razor Head Assembly
Replace the entire Razor Head Assembly once a year for optimal shaving results. Replace damaged or worn Razor Head Assembly with model HS85 Philips Norelco razor heads only. razor by pulling the Razor Head Assembly straight up away from the razor.
Note: DO NOT place or clean any parts of the charging stand in a dishwasher.

Storage

Instructions for use

Important

Allow your skin at least two weeks to become accustomed to the Philishave shaving system. Do not press the shaver too hard against the skin while shaving! With this shaving system, you can shave when your skin is either wet or dry. The Nivea for Men shaving emulsion has an immediately moisturising effect on the skin. Remove the cartridge and clean the shaver if you are not going to use the appliance for more than one week. To obtain the best shaving results, it is necessary to follow the instructions in the Cleaning and maintenance section.

Inserting the cartridge

The cartridges with moisturising Nivea for Men shaving emulsion are available in boxes containing five cartridges and one plastic connector. Do not throw the connector away; you will need it for all five cartridges! Use only Philishave Nivea for Men Cool Skin cartridges (HQ 150). Inserting the first cartridge s Take one cartridge from the box. Take the connector (supplied in the same box) out of its bag and push it into the cartridge until it seats with a click.

Shaving

Switch on the shaver by pressing the ON/OFF button. Hold the shaver against the skin.
s Press the yellow pump button to apply Nivea for
Men shaving emulsion to the skin. When sufficient shaving emulsion has been released, start moving the shaving heads rapidly over your skin, making both straight and circular movements. The shaver is suitable for use in the shower.

Introduction

Cool Skin is a new shaving system by Philishave. The shaver has a special compartment for cartridges containing Nivea for Men moisturising shaving emulsion. This emulsion is applied to the skin during shaving. The Nivea for Men shaving emulsion prepares the skin and beard for the shave, ensuring that the shaver moves smoothly over your face and makes perfect contact with the skin. You will enjoy an unexpectedly close and comfortable shave and your skin will feel soft and fresh afterwards. After shaving, you can clean the appliance by simply rinsing it under a hot tap.

Important: only leave the shaver to charge in a dry place! First put the plug in the appliance and then put the Powerplug in the socket. The Powerplug has an automatic voltage selector and is suitable for mains voltages ranging from 100 to 240 Volts. The pilot light near the ON/OFF button will go on. It will take the appliance approximately 8 hours to recharge completely. A fully recharged shaver has a shaving time of approximately 30 minutes. The shaver has been equipped with a battery low indication: the pilot light will light up when the battery is running low.

About the built-in battery
The shaver has been equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery. To prolong the life of the battery, recharge and store the appliance at a temperature between +5C and +35C. Also make sure that you disconnect the shaver from the mains when you are not recharging it. Cleaning and maintenance

If you were charging the appliance, pull the Powerplug out of the wall socket and remove the appliance plug from the shaver. Clean the shaving unit with very hot water after every shave. The shaver is fully water resistant and therefore allows easy and quick cleaning. Important: the Powerplug is not waterproof. Prevent it from getting wet and do not immerse it in water! Shaving unit

Storage

The pouch has been designed to hold the appliance, its dust cover, two spare cartridges and the Powerplug. The pouch is washable; wash it separately (see washing instructions on the inside of the pouch).

Shaving heads do not move smoothly over the skin Cause: not enough Nivea for Men shaving emulsion has been applied. s Press the pump button a few times until a sufficient amount of Nivea for Men shaving emulsion has been released to allow the shaving heads to move smoothly over your skin again. Reduced shaving performance Cause 1: the shaving heads are dirty s The shaver has not been cleaned immediately after use and/or has not been rinsed long enough or hot enough. Clean the shaver thoroughly before you continue shaving (see Cleaning and maintenance). Cause 2: long hairs are obstructing the shaving heads Clean the cutters and guards s Remove the retaining plate. Do not clean more than one cutter and guard at a time, since they are all matching sets. If you accidentally mix up the cutters and the guards, it may take several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored. s Remove the hairs with the brush supplied. Cause 3: shaving heads are damaged or worn Replace the shaving heads s Remove the retaining plate. Remove the old shaving heads from the shaving unit and replace them with new ones. Damaged or worn shaving heads (cutters and guards) must only be replaced by the original Philishave Cool Skin shaving heads (HQ 156)! s Put the retaining plate back onto the shaving unit.

Cover of cartridge compartment cannot be closed Cause 1: the cartridge has not been inserted correctly s Insert the cartridge correctly. The cartridge only fits properly into the shaver in one way. Cause 2: The cartridge has not been pushed far enough into the shaver. s Press the cartridge until it is properly fixed. Shaver does not work when the ON/OFF button is pressed Cause 1: the battery is empty s Recharge the battery. Cause 2: the appliance is connected to the mains.

Disposing of the battery

When you discard your shaver in due course, please make sure that the battery is not thrown away with the normal household waste. Remove the battery from the shaver and hand it in at an official collection point. Tip: you may also take or send your Philishave Cool Skin shaver to a Philips Service Centre. There, the battery will be removed and disposed of in an environmentally safe way.

Important: make sure the inside of the shaving unit is really clean. Close the shaving unit again. Shake off excess water. Trimmer Clean the outside of the trimmer with a brush every time you use it. Lubricate the trimmer teeth with a drop of sewing machine oil every six months.
s Flip the trimmer open to clean it on the inside.
s Open the shaver. s Remove the battery.
