Connecting the included antennas
Connecting the FM indoor antenna: The FM indoor antenna is for indoor use only. Extend the antenna and move it in various directions until the clearest signal is received. Fix it with push pins or similar implements in the position that will cause the least amount of distortion. If the reception is not very clear with the attached FM indoor antenna, the use of an outdoor antenna is recommended.
ANTENNA
Remove the insulation at the tip of the cable, and insert the cable securely, fully to the end of the exposed tip.
Connecting the AM loop antenna: The AM loop antenna is for indoor use only. Set it in the direction and position where you receive the clearest sound. Put it as far away as possible from the unit, TVs, speaker cables, and power cords. When reception is not satisfactory with the attached AM loop antenna alone, connection of an outdoor antenna is recommended.
Connecting an FM outdoor antenna
Please make sure that you follow the considerations below regarding the location. Keep the antenna away from noise sources (neon signs, busy roads, etc.). It is dangerous to put the antenna close to power lines. Keep it well away from power lines, transformers, etc.
To avoid the risk of lightning and electrical shock, grounding is
necessary. Follow item 14 of the Important Safeguards on page 2 when you install the outdoor antenna.

Full description
If you're ready to bring the big theater to your home, but not ready for the big price tag it usually entails, say hello to the TX-DS484. With DTS and Dolby Digital decoding, banana-plug terminals for all channels, 96 kHz / 24-bit DACs, multichannel inputs for future formats, and three digital inputs, it's got everything you need - and a whole lot more, including the greatest feature of all - outstanding sonic performance. Like its more expensive siblings, the TX-DS484 has Onkyo's exclusive Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) - meaning you'll get a flat response up to 100 kHz, which is necessary for accurate reproduction of DVD-Audio and SACD. WRAT also provides clearer dynamics and reduced noise and distortion from your regular CDs and DVDs. So whether you're just getting started in home theater or looking to upgrade, the TX-DS484 is the one receiver that gives you it all, and still leaves you with enough money leftover to buy a lot of DVDs.
