QLD Combined Emergency Services Academy Leading Edge Hi-End Technology Installation QCESA extended its existing operational facility on Whyte Island Port of Brisbane. KLM Group installed, commissioned and provided system maintenance training across multiple disciplines including electrical, fibre and data networks, security and access control, audio visual and wireless camera video systems. The system overview incorporated leading edge hi-end technology, adapted to an extremely harsh and unforgiving environment. This training facility is responsible for maintaining, testing and certifying emergency services personnel. The main facility involves four combination training rooms complete with AMX control and wireless technology. Five live simulation areas actually replicate a ship, bank, store, shops and service station. These simulation rooms are monitored with two-way audio and video communications to the main control room which can view live, record and playback with train the trainer enhancements. A secondary training facility replicates an in-house simulation. This facility uses a remote HTML web browser to control AMX systems which interface with DVTEL video systems. In addition remote sites are interlaced over blown fibre and CAT6 krone highway.

DFO Homemaker Hub Complete Group Services Capability The ACT Branch has undertaken a significant retail shopping centre complex in Fyshwick. The Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) and Homemaker Hub complex includes 55,000 square metres of DFO, Food Courts and Bulky Goods retail space, representing approximately 150 individual shops. The retail level sits above a similarly sized area of undercover car parking space capable of accommodating approximately 1800 cars. The DFO represents approximately 120 individual shops and food outlets. The Homemaker Hub bulky goods area with 27 shops will open soon after. The electrical, voice, data, communications, security, CCTV system and people counter works were successfully completed on a design and construct basis for Contexx and its client developer Austexx. One of the many challenges in delivering a project of this size was the timeframes set down along with the integration of Embedded Networks Metering System, for power and voice/data services to 150 individual tenants.
Centrelink Energy Saving Initiative Project In conjunction with Energy Efficient Systems, a Clipsal Australia company, KLM Group has successfully delivered a large-scale energy saving initiative project for the Australian Government department, Centrelink. This important national roll-out includes in excess of 400 sites throughout Australia, many in remote and regional locations. This energy and environmental savings program included a number of key lighting and air-conditioning upgrades, all completed in occupied and functioning branches. This involved some 30,000 man hours of works performed out of normal business hours. This flexibility was the cornerstone of achieving significant energy savings for Centrelink. An additional requirement of the project was to minimise the environmental impact of the work being undertaken. For this reason, suppliers were requested to minimise packaging and other material. All old lamps were recycled and all old wiring and light fittings were sent to recycling centres. The most common task performed was the retrofit which involved replacing the internal components of the light fitting. By re-using the existing fitting and replacing the internal components potential environmental impacts were minimised.
