You may be able to receive the settings directly as a configuration message. After receiving the settings you need to save them on your phone. The service provider may provide a PIN that is needed to save the settings. 1. Getting started
Install the SIM card and the battery
Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children. For availability and information on using SIM card services, contact your SIM card vendor. This may be the service provider, network operator, or other vendor.
This device is intended for use with BL-5X battery. The SIM card and its contacts can easily be damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card. To remove the back cover of the phone push the sideways release buttons (1) and slide the back cover to remove it from the phone (2).
Remove the battery as shown (3).
Insert the SIM card (4). Make sure that the SIM card is properly inserted, and that the golden contact area on the card is facing downwards.
Replace the battery (5). Observe the battery contacts. Always use original Nokia batteries. See Nokia battery authentication guidelines, page 116. Slide the back cover into its place (6).
Charge the battery
Warning: Use only batteries, chargers, and enhancements approved by Nokia for use with this particular model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty, and may be dangerous. Check the model number of any charger before use with this device. This device is intended for use when supplied with power from ACP-12. For availability of approved enhancements, please check with your dealer.
Connect the lead from the charger to the socket at the bottom of your phone. Connect the charger to a wall socket. If the battery is completely discharged, it may take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before any calls can be made. The charging time depends on the charger and the battery used. For example, charging a BL-5X battery with the ACP-12 charger takes approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes while the phone is in the standby mode.
DT-8 Desk stand
The desk stand allows charging of the phone battery, and a spare battery that may be included in the sales package. It can be supplied with power from the AC-1 or ACP-12 charger. The spare battery is charged if the phone is not inserted, or if the battery in the phone is fully charged. The charge level of the phone battery is shown on the display of the phone. The blue light indicator shows the charging status of the spare battery and has the following functionality: The light indication is breathing blue when the desk stand is empty, or when only the phone is inserted (phone battery is either fully charged, or being charged), or when both, the phone and the spare battery, are inserted, and spare battery is fully charged.
4. Select the contact from the list, or enter a phone number or e-mail address, or search for it in Contacts > Names. Select OK and the message is moved to the Outbox folder for sending. While the multimedia message is being sent, the animated indicator is displayed and you can use other functions on the phone. If the sending fails, the phone tries to resend it a few times. If this fails, you are notified. The message remains in the Outbox folder and you can try to resend it later. If Save sent messages > Yes is selected, the sent message is saved in the Sent items folder. See Multimedia, page 54. When the message is sent, it is not an indication that the message has been received at the intended destination.
