The DCD-685 and DCD-485 are a new breed of CD players that let you enjoy superior quality sound from CD-R and CD-RW discs (recorded for audio only) as well as traditional CDs at a reasonable price. The DCD-685 is equipped with a Real 20-bit, 2-DAC LAMBDA Super Linear Converter inherited from high-end DENON CD players. Both players include other high-end features such as a CD mechanism with high specific gravity at the center of the player that ensures a completely vibration-free environment for accurate reading of signals from the disc. Combined with DENON's renowned digital sound and acoustic technology, the DCD-685/485 produce a clear, dynamic sound with all the delicate nuances of the original recording.

s Real 20-bit 2-DAC LAMBDA Super Linear Converter
(DCD-685 only) The DCD-685 sports two Real 20-bit LAMBDA Super Linear Converters, one dedicated to each stereo channel, which convert 16-bit data from CD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs with high 20-bit precision. These critically-acclaimed D/A converters use advanced technology originated by DENON in which zero-cross distortion is essentially eliminated, resulting in a beautifully clear, highly musical sound.
s Delta-Sigma Multi-bit D/A Converter (DCD-485 only) The DCD-485 incorporates a high-quality D/A converter that removes much more of the distortion that plagues high frequencies, bringing music lovers a cleaner, more detailed sound compared with conventional models in this class. s 8-times Oversampling Digital Filter The DCD-685/485 are both equipped with an 8-times Oversampling Digital Filter to ensure that the digital sound you hear is as pure and clear as possible over the entire audio spectrum. All signals from the lowest to the highest levels are well balanced and of exceptionally high quality. s
s Convenient Pitch Control (DCD-685 only) The DCD-685's Pitch Control lets you adjust the digital PLL demodulation lock in increments of 0.1% (from -12.0% to +12.0%) in order to control the pitch more precisely during disc playback. s Optical Digital Output The DCD-685/485 include an Optical Digital Output that lets you connect a CD-R unit or other digital signal recorder to make direct digital recordings. s Music Calendar The DCD-685/485's display incorporates a Music Calendar that lets you see up to 20 track numbers at a time. During Program Play, for instance, this feature lets you see at a glance which tracks you have programmed for playback. s Display Dimmer The DCD-685/485's Display Dimmer function lets you darken the listening room to suit your mood when listening to music. The brightness of the display can be set to Normal, 2/3 Normal, 1/3 Normal, or Off. s 20-track Program Play The 20-track Program Play feature lets you designate which tracks you want to hear on a disc and in what order. You can select up to 20 tracks for programmed playback.

s A Wealth of Additional Playback Functions There's virtually no end to the ways you can enjoy musical selections from a disc: All-Tracks Repeat, A-B Repeat, Random Play, Search, and others. s Centered Mechanism Layout The pickup mechanism, which is the only moving part in a CD player, has been placed at the center of the DCD-685/485's chassis to minimize the adverse effects of vibrations, a major source of noise. This design effectively preserves the purity of signals read from highquality digital sound recordings.

Lyth Arts Centre Technical Information for Visiting Performers
LAC1 Studio Theatre Play area is 20'6" (6.3m) square, 15' (4.57m) high to ceiling, and 12' high to clear lanterns. Comfortable steeply raked seating for 60 end-on or 72 with seats side of stage. Aisles either side of seating, one stepped, one flat. Boarded-up windows giving total blackout. Thick black Bolton curtains around walls, 11' high at sides and 13' high at stage rear wall. Worn, varnished redwood floor, not specifically sprung but with lots of bounce. Ceiling and all visible surfaces painted black.
LAC2 Foyer when used as performance space Elegant room 43'8" (13.3m) x 17'5" (5.3m) x 12'4" (3.76m) high. French windows opening onto veranda and sheltered garden. Dark blue needle-punch fitted carpet, pale grey-green walls, white vaulted ceiling. Counter forming bar and serving hatch to kitchen. Large chimney piece with open log fire. Lounge seating for 24, stacking chairs for 36, and veranda seats for 16.
Lighting Equipment in LAC1 Studio Theatre has a lighting grid made from 48mm allow tubing suspended 150mm from ceiling at 1.925m centres in a rectangular pattern. Quartet Lights: 8 x 500watt Fresnels, 2 x 500watt PCs, 2 x 500watt 22/40 spots, Selecon Acclaim Lights: 6 x 500watt Fresnels, 2 x 500watt PCs, 2 x 500watt 22/50 spots, this lighting lives permanently on the overhead grid but can be moved around as required. All fresnels and PCs have barn doors. All lamps have gel frames. Selection of gels. 4 x Zero88 Betapack dimmer racks (each with 6 channels and 12 sockets) sited backstage. Zero88 Alcora 24 channel desk which lives at the LX desk but is portable. 24 moveable lighting cables clipped to grid and routed back to racks plus 4 extra cables. Late night meals are always available if required. A further two sleeping lofts are available with comfortable single beds above the stage dressing rooms/WCs/showers. Also, laundry facilities are provided at cost.
