Caution
Read the following before using these speakers:
To assure the finest performance, please read this manual carefully. Keep it in a safe place for future reference. Install the speakers in a cool, dry, clean place away from windows, heat sources, sources of excessive vibration, dust, moisture and cold. Avoid sources of humming (transformers, motors). To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose the speakers to dripping or splashing. To prevent the enclosure from warping or discoloring, do not place the speakers where they will be exposed to direct sunlight or excessive humidity. Do not place the following objects on top of the speakers: 1. Glass, china, etc. If glass etc. falls by vibrations and breaks, it may cause personal injury. 2. A burning candle etc. If the candle falls by vibrations, it may cause fire and personal injury. 3. A vessel with water in it If the vessel falls by vibrations and water spills, it may cause damage to the unit, and/ or you may get an electric shock. Do not place the speakers where foreign objects such as water drips might fall. It might cause a fire, damage to this unit, and/or personal injury. Do not place the speakers where they are liable to be knocked over or struck by falling objects. Stable placement will also ensure better sound performance. Secure placement or installation is the owners responsibility. Yamaha shall not be liable for any accident caused by improper placement or installation of speakers. Any time you note distortion, reduce the volume of your amplifier immediately. Make sure the input power does not exceed the specified maximum input power, otherwise the speakers will be damaged. Do not attempt to clean the speakers with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth. Do not attempt to modify or fix the speakers. Contact qualified Yamaha service personnel when any service is needed. The cabinet should never be opened for any reasons.
Note: The speakers are magnetically shielded, but placing them too close to a TV may impair the TV picture. If this happens, move them away from the TV.

WARNING: Each speaker weights 2 kg (4.4 lbs). Do not mount them on thin plywood or soft wall surface material, as the screws may come out of the flimsy surface, causing the speakers to fall down and be damaged, or result in personal injury. Do not fasten the speakers to wall with nails, adhesives, or other unsound hardware. Long term use and vibrations may cause them to fall down. To avoid accidents resulting from tripping over loose speaker cords, fix them to the wall. Note: You can also use the screw holes on the bottom of the NS-M125 for installing the speakers on commercially available speaker stands.
A screw with a diameter of 6 mm (1/4) can be used (Hole depth: 20 mm, 3/4) 60 mm (2-3/8)
Before installing, please refer to the instruction manual of the speaker stand.

Notes: Do not place the speaker on top of the TV whose area is smaller than the bottom area of the speaker. If placed, the speaker may drop out causing an injury to you. Do not place the speaker on top of the TV with an inclination. Do not touch the adhesive surface after peeling off the seal as this will weaken its adhesive strength. Thoroughly wipe clean the surface where the fastener is to be applied. Note that adhesive strength is weakened if the surface is dirty, oily or wet and that this may cause the center speaker to drop.
WARNING: The speaker weights 2 kg (4.4 lbs).

Notes: Make sure that the bare wires are not touching each other as this could damage the speaker and amplifier. Connect one speaker to the left terminals of your amplifier, and another speaker to the right terminals, making sure not to reverse the polarity (+, ). If one speaker is connected with reversed polarity, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass.
Using a Banana Plug
1. Remove the speaker terminal cover by gently pulling it toward you. 2. Tighten the terminal knob. 3. Simply insert the banana plug into the terminal.

LOUDSPEAKERS are rated to handle up to 120 watts of amplifier power, have a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, and a sensitivity of 86 dB at 2.83 volts and at one metre. (BTW 2.83 volts equals 1.33 watts). Frequency response was listed at 60 Hz and up to 35 kHz, but no limits were mentioned. Visually, the only difference between the main fronts, and the centre and effects speakers, was that the centre and effects speakers were at 340 mm wide, shorter. A closer look revealed that these speakers included mounting brackets on their rear panels for wall mounting. Those on the effects speakers allowed for vertical mounting and those on the centre for horizontal mounting. On the specification front, the only difference between these speakers and the main speakers was that their low frequency cut-off was a little higher at 70 Hz. Sonically, the system proved to be more than adept at delivering a believable and enjoyable surround sound experience. They delivered good overall movie resolution and the main speakers' slightly boxy sound added some enjoyment to action scenes, which sounded larger than life, if not louder than real life (I felt that the speakers were a little low on the efficiency side of things). The sub though, when used in music mode it was equipped with a switch for movie and music mode proved to be rather good at delivering well controlled low frequencies, and its integration with the speakers, whilst not absolutely seamless, was on a par with more costly products. On challenging two-channel music, a few slight deficiencies were shown up. The main speakers' boxy sound did hide a little detail, and high frequencies didn't deliver the same resolution as some admittedly more expensive speakers on review at the same time as the Yamahas did. This being said, for the price, and considering their slim, good looks, the NS-P125 package did deliver an overall sound that puts them right in the ball park when compared to similarly priced packages.

n my line of work, I get to see and listen to speakers that come in all shapes and sizes, and that have cabinets manufactured out of various materials. I've listened to flat speakers, fat speakers, tall speakers, ones you can see through, and models for in-ceiling use, outdoor use, and even speakers that were designed to look like rocks. Naturally, there have been speakers that have been aesthetically pleasing to my eye, ones that I probably wouldn't be caught dead with, and speakers that looked like works of art some NXT technology speakers literally have art covering their sound radiating surfaces. The Yamaha speakers reviewed on this page fall somewhere in the middle of the extremes of speakers that I've dealt with. Their cabinets are manufactured out of good old-fashioned wood. They are slim, and the main front speakers are quite tall too, and with their black finish, I felt that they looked quite classy too. On a more specific note, the Yamaha NS-P125 home cinema speaker package comprises an NS-C125 centre channel speaker, two NS-M125 surround effects speakers, and a pair of NS-125F main front speakers. Adding low frequency reinforcement to the main speakers is the YST-SW225 subwoofer. This speaker features a number of features, which according to Yamaha sets it aside from most other subwoofers. These include QD-Bass (Quatre Dispersion Bass) technology, which is claimed to radiate sound efficiently in four horizontal directions, and YST II, which adds refinements to the brand's Yamaha Active Servo Technology. The YST II changes include a new circuit design that combines negative impedance and constant current drives. These modifications are stated to provide more stable performance and clear bass reproduction. Moving on from the subwoofer we get to the next biggest speakers in the system, the NS-125Fs. Big is a relative term, as at only 132 mm deep, 105 mm wide and 1050 mm high, excluding their metal bases, the speakers might

be tall, but they aren't big by any stretch of the imagination. Just for interest sake, the round base has a diameter of 236 mm, so this too isn't overly large either. Built into the top section of the speakers are a pair of 80 mm white coned woofers, and in between the woofers, resides a single 22 mm balanced dome tweeter. A removable grille protects the driver complement. Residing on the rear baffle of the speakers are a pair of ports, and at around two thirds the way up, a set of multiway binding posts. The speakers
