CompactFlash Recording from the Built-In Mics
9 Press MIC SELECT repeatedly until it turns green. Press MENU, and then turn the DATA wheel until you see [MIC] Int MIC Auto Lvl on the display. Press ENTER. Turn the DATA wheel to set Int MIC Auto Lvl to On. Press EXIT twice. In the CompactFlash area, press the MARKER (Record) button so it flashes red. When youre ready to record, press PLAY/PAUSE. Press STOP when youre finished recording. To listen back to your recording, press PLAY.

CD Recording from the Built-In Mics
Press EJECT. Place a blank CD-R in the CD tray, and then press EJECT to close the tray. Press MIC SELECT repeatedly until it turns green. Press MENU, and then turn the DATA wheel until you see [MIC] Int MIC Auto Lvl on the display. 5 Press ENTER. 6 Turn the DATA wheel to set Int MIC Auto Lvl to On. 7 Press EXIT twice. 8 In the COMPACT DISC area, press the MARKER (Record) button so it flashes red. 9 When youre ready to record, press PLAY/PAUSE. 10 Press STOP when youre finished recording. 11 To listen back to your recording, press PLAY. 3 4
Recording from CompactFlash to CD with a Mastering Effect
9 Press PLAY/PAUSE in the CompactFlash area. Press the PREVIOUS TRACK or NEXT TRACK buttons to select the recording you want to hear. Press MASTERING. Turn the DATA wheel to select the desired mastering effect preset. If your track is still playing, press STOP. Press TRACK SELECTif a blank CD is not in the tray, the tray will open. Insert a blank CD and close the tray. Turn the DATA wheel to select the song on the flash card you want to record onto a CD. Press TRACK SELECT.
Applying Effects
You can apply a variety of effects to your guitar, instrument, or vocal performance as follows: 1 Press the EFFECT button repeatedly to select the desired effects category.
Note: If Use EFFECT? MST will be Off appears, press ENTER. Turn the DATA wheel to select the desired effect patch. Press EXIT to return to the main display.
Note: To select additional songs, repeat Step 8 and 9. Press WRITE. Press ENTER. When Finalize:Yes appears in the display, press ENTER. When Are You Sure? is displayed, press ENTER. When the CD is recorded, the disc is ejectedWrite Completed. Another disc? appears in the display. 15 Press EXIT to complete the CD-recording process. 14
To Format a Compact Flash Card
In the CompactFlash area, press EDIT repeatedly until you see CF EDIT on the display. Press ENTER three times.

The CD-2 is compatible with the R-1
Songs recorded by the R-1 can be turned into a music CD using the CD-2. * However, certain conditions must be met in order for a song recorded on the R-1 to be handled by the CD-2. For details, refer to the section below entitled R-1 songs that can be handled on the CD-2. * For details on creating a music CD, see Pages 4648 of the CD-2 owners manual.

R-1 songs that can be handled on the CD-2
Songs recorded on the R-1 that meet the following conditions can be handled on the CD-2. Record Mode must be WAV 16 bit (16 bit WAV file). Track title must not contain ~ (tilde) or double-byte characters (e.g., Japanese). Track length must be longer than four seconds. Track (file) must be located in the root directory of the CompactFlash card.
* The CD-2 is able to display and play back a maximum of 99 tracks.

It can record audio to SD flash memory cards or to CD-R/RW discs so you can save and share your music however you like. It offers a stereo RCA line-level input and a 1/4 stereo mic input as well as a 3.5mm headphone output and a 3.5mm line output. The intuitive interface offers simple controls and a clear LCD screen as well as an Easy Guide button that will show you the ropes quickly so you can start working right away. Several playback modes allow you to change pitch key and tempo of a recording perfect for music study. A metronome is also included.Other handy features of the CD-2e include its ability to run on six AA batteries in addition to AC power. This provides the ultimate portability so you can go anywhere. A compact wireless remote is included for full recording and playback controls including volume adjustment metronome controls playback speed and repeat.
