How do I stop Donkey Kong Country.
RAGING_DEATH 2 posts since Nov 24, 2010
I am having a serious issue while playing this game. Whenever I hold the Wii remote sideways to play, after a while the connection is continuously lost to the remote. The error message interrupts gameplay at a frequent basis and drains the fun out of an otherwise fun game. At first I thought the batteries were not secure, but this wasn't the issue. I thought maybe it was the remote, so I tried others. I even resynched all the remotes, this didn't fix the issue. The Wii remote only loses connection while playing Donkey Kong Country Returns. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this problem. Please help.

Have you tried playing other games since this started happening? If not, try playing other games and see if the problem is for all games or only Donkey Kong Country Returns.

This problem only occurs with DKC Returns. I tried to sync the remotes again, but the problem persists. I keep getting the error message that the wii remote has stopped communicating. It happens with all the remotes I own, and only occurs for this game.

I've heard about this growing problem from many others. Some say they were able to get the remotes to work after unplugging the console and then plugging it back in after a few minutes and re-synching the Wii Remotes.

I got this game for Christmas and I too have been having this same issue you have and have been unable to get the remotes to sync. The remotes I am using couldn't be more differnt either (White one that I got with the System, and a new Black one purchased in June) they both lose their sync and it is a hard time to get them to sync again so I have had to reset the game multiple times.

Good Luck to all of you! I am having the same problem except my remote won't connect at all. I took the game back and got a new one thinking it was just that game and it still won't work. I even tried to connect the remotes before starting the game and as soon as the menu comes up it shuts the remote off. I was on the phone with technical service for like an hour and talked to 2 different people who hadd no idea how to help me and somebody is suppose to be calling me back, but I still haven't recieved a call. Hopefully they do something about this it's very frustrating!

Just bought the game and we are having the same issues. We can't even get the second remote to connect. We have tried all four remotes we own and none will work with this game. Very irritating for the kids and myself since I have to listen to them complain.

I too am having the same problem. The 2nd remote stays synced until I get into the game and then it drops out EVERY time!

Well, the battery may be dying on your Wii Remote. If not and it works on other games, there may be a problem with the game.If this happens on all of the games that you play, then there may be something wrong with your Sensor Bar. You should always keep your Sensor Bar directly above/ on top of your TV, or directly below your TV.

Very odd. I got DKCR for Christmas and have never experienced that problem. I also sit at least 12-15 feet from the TV which is more than the recommended space.

Wish there was an easy answer. I was having the same problem with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Everytime I tried playing through World 9, the light on my remote would start blinking and I'd lose control of Mario. My brother and I played all the way through Donkey Kong Country Returns recently and we were using different remotes (black, white, nunchuck, no nunchuck) and we never had any issues. Brought the game home with me and played it on my own Wii with the same controllers giving me problems with NSMBWii and I haven't yet had an issue. I actually ended up not having any more issues with NSMBWii after I unplugged my Wii and plugged it back in, re-synching the remotes. I read someone suggesting to do just that so I'd recommend giving that a try.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 Player.
NOA_TECH_ZEKE 112 posts since Mar 31, 2010
Some of you may have noticed your second remote does not stay synced when playing Donkey Kong Country Returns. This is due to the game working a little differently than other games. If you would like to play the game with two players, use the following steps:
1. From the Wii Main Menu, start Donkey Kong Country Returns. 2. Select a file to use. 3. Select 2 Players and a screen will prompt you to sync your second remote. Press and release the A button on the second Wii Remote and you should be set to go. 4. If the second Wii Remote doesnt work (the blue lights on the remote blink and turn off, or there are no blue lights), please click here for Wii Remote troubleshooting.
If the above steps dont work, please contact us at 1-800-255-3700 any day of the week between 6am and 7pm Pacific time so that one of our representatives may assist you. Thanks.

This solution will work only after you have established your first 'New Game' using only one remote. If you try and move to 'Two Players' right out of the box, you are not allowed to (and like me, probably boxed it up and are ready to bring it back to the store). However, if you start your first game with only one remote, save and quit the game, you will then be able to follow the solution offered by NOA_TECH_ZEKE when you go back into the first saved game. There is definitely a bug here but you can get around it.

I have found that my issue isn't just with 2 player mode and it happens with player one, not player two. Any ideas as to why that is happeneing?

We have the same issues, but the instructions on here didn't work. If we start a game and add a player, then it works ok. That's a pain, but at least we can play multiplayer - kind of. The big issue now is with the controller dropping out like every 30 seconds. There's no pattern, but it's always the second remote. It drops out and then you have to push a button and then it adds it back in. Makes it impossible to play 2 players. I'm hearing rave reviews about this game and really want to play it with my family so this is a real bummer.

Once you enter into the Donkey Kong game press the home button on the Player 1 remote (this takes you to the settings screen). Once there, move that little white hand down to the remote icon at the bottom of the screen and click that. This will give you the option to disconnect the remote, and that is exactly what you do, disconnect Player 1. (Since I assume you have 2 Wii remotes at this juncture, both are now inactive.)
While still in the disconnect/reconnect screen, take Player 2 remote and press 1 and 2 simultaneously until the Wii activates it. Your Player 2 remote has now become Player 1. Remember your Player 1 remote is still inactive at this point.
Enter back into the Donkey Kong game.
Use your newly acquired Player 1 remote to go into the add/drop players option.
Once there, take the inactive Player 2 remote (which used to be Player 1) and press both number 1 and 2 simultaneously and hold for a few seconds.
