FAENA HOTEL+UNIVERSE, at El Porteo Building, will be the new Buenos Aires luxury hotel. El Porteo, located at the exclusive Puerto Madero area, is a great work that combines design, technology and comfort for its guests. This project started by recycling of an old grain mill and will continue with a second apartment building across El Porteo Building, called La Portea. Both of them will turn this area into one of the most exclusive residential areas in Argentina. The Challenge, Deploy a communication infrastructure that will allow El Porteo Building to supply services that offer world class services to its dwellers, ocassional visitors and guests of the Faena Hotel+ Universe.

The Solution, The Network proposal for El Porteo Building considers the use of combined technologies. Its purpose is to have the best cost - benefit ratio, and provide a range of services in the field of voice and data communications. Voice Communications: the HiPath Server will supply a robust, scalable platform, rich in facilities both for fixed telephony (Back of the House, Room Bathrooms) and Cordless Telephony. There is Conference and Alarm Management System: will support ad-hoc conferences, by simulating a "trunking" radio system. Data Communications: they will be based on the High Speed Fixed Ethernet Network and on the Wireless Mobile Network. They will use the 802.11b standard, and support network access from any compatible terminal in any area of the facilities. Internet Access: will be supplied and managed by a Proxy Gateway via user names and passwords. IT Security: for all the system, will be managed by a Firewall that will protect both the Back-ofthe-House Network (corporate network) and Hotel users (Wired and Wireless).
