TEFAL Quickcup: I personally think that Tefal were misleading when in their advertisement they compared the Quickcup to a kettle. INTRODUCTION Household revolutions come along once in a blue moon.

Ambient temperature button hot water button quantity selector (according to model) filter cartridge (according to model) cartridge change and descaling indicator light (according to model)
Rinsing before using for the first time
1 Remove all of the packaging, stickers or accessories from the interior and exterior of the appliance. 2 Remove the tank A and clean it in water, taking care that no particles remain in the tank. 3 Then fill the tank A with cold water and reposition it firmly on its base D, making sure that the release valve C is properly engaged fig 1a, 1b and 2. 4 Plug in the appliance. 5 Place a container that holds approximately 1.5 litres under the nozzle E. 6 Hold down the hot water button H: hot water will begin to run out fig 3. When operating for the first time, it is normal that a little steam escapes from the nozzle E. 7 When the container is almost full, release the hot water button H to stop the flow. Discard the water.
Installation of the CLARIS filter cartridge (according to model)
To get the best taste and performance from your appliance we advise you to use the Claris Aqua Filter System cartridge. This cartridge contains an anti-lime substance and activated carbon that reduces chlorine, impurities, lead, copper, pesticides, etc that are present in water. Minerals and trace elements, however, are preserved. 1 Unwrap the cartridge J. Take note of the month in which the cartridge is put into use by sliding the upper ring on the filter to the use start date fig 4. You should change your Claris Filter Cartridge every 4 to 6 weeks (or every 50 litres), according to the hardness of your water. 2 Position the cartridge in the tank A and screw the cartridge J a quarter turn into the bottom of the tank. Certain models also have an indicator light K, which indicates when it is necessary to change the cartridge. For these models, when this light K flashes during use, it is time to change the cartridge fig 5. 3 To change the cartridge, remove the used cartridge and replace it with a new Claris Aqua Filter system cartridge, sold as an accessory (ref XH 5000) fig 6. 4 For models with an indicator light, it is necessary to record the change of cartridge by simultaneously pressing the hot water button H and the ambient water button G, for at least 5 seconds fig 7. After 5 seconds, the indicator light will go out. The appliance will then have recorded the cartridge change. The Claris Aqua Filter cartridge can be installed in all Tefal Quick Cup models, including those that do not have a filter on purchase.

Getting started
- Do not fill the tank with hot water, milk or any other liquid. - Make sure that no foreign bodies, such as grit or small particles, get into the water tank: any damage arising from foreign bodies having entered the tank is excluded from the guarantee. - Make sure that the water is fresh from the tap so that it has not had time to become stagnant or in contact with the air and that it is odour-free. - Never remove the tank while the appliance is in operation. - If you use an entire tank of water all at once (approximately 1.5 litres), let the appliance rest for 10 minutes before launching a new cycle. 1 Place the appliance on a flat, stable heat-resistant surface away from water splashes and any sources of heat. Plug the appliance into the mains. 2 After having removed the lid B, remove and fill the tank A with cold water. fig 1a and b 3 Put the tank back in place by pressing firmly and reposition the lid B. fig 2. 4 Place the desired container under the nozzle E. 5 Briefly press the hot water button H and you will automatically obtain 220 ml of hot water fig 8. The water will stop running automatically. Press again on same button if you wish to stop water before the cycle comes to an end. If you would like a greater or lesser amount of water, hold down the button until you obtain the desired quantity of hot water fig 3. As soon as you release the button, the hot water stops running. Follow the same procedure with the the ambient water button G to obtain 200 ml of water at room temperature fig 9 or fig 10. If you would like to get ambient water after hot water has been running, fill half a mug and throw it away or wait 5 minutes as a minimum. If you would like to get hot water after ambient water has been running, fill half a mug and throw it away. 6 With certain models, you have the possibility of presetting the amount of water automatically delivered by the appliance yourself. To programme the amount for the hot water button H, press both hot water H and ambient water G buttons simultaneously fig 7. The indicator light K flashes to indicate that you are now in programming mode. Then press the hot water button H until you obtain the desired amount of water in your container fig 3. Finally confirm the recorded amount by simultaneously pressing buttons G and H fig 7. The light will turn off at the end of the programming mode. To programme the amount for the ambient water button G, follow the same procedure as for programming the hot water button H, pressing the ambient water button G to obtain the desired amount of water fig 10. 7 The models with a quantity selector offer an additional function: you can adjust the amount of water automatically delivered to your container. To do this, select the chosen amount on the rotary button I, according to your container, then briefly press the hot water button H to obtain hot water or the ambient water button G to obtain ambient water; the water flow will stop automatically fig 11. 8 If you are using small cups, we recommend that you hold the cup close to the nozzle E to avoid any splashes. 9 To ensure minimal energy consumption from this appliance please switch off your plug point when the product is in use.

Descaling your appliance

In order to optimise the lifetime of your appliance, we recommend that you descale it at least every 2 months. Descaling should be carried out more frequently if you live in a very hard water area. Certain models also have an indicator light K, which indicates when descaling is necessary. When this indicator K is on during use, it is time to descale the appliance. To descale: 1 Remove the Claris filter cartridge fig 6. 2 Place a container of at least 1.5 litres under the nozzle.

3 Empty the tank A, if it is still full of water, then reposition it on its base fig 2. 4 Pour 1 litre of commercially available white vinegar at 8 into the tank. 5 Press the hot water button H and the ambient water button G simultaneously for at least 5 seconds fig 7. You have the possibility of launching a descaling cycle even if the indicator light K is not on. To do this, press the hot water button H and the ambient water button G simultaneously for at least 10 seconds 6 The descaling cycle thus runs automatically for approximately 10 minutes. The indicator turns off at the end of the cycle. 7 When the cycle has come to an end, empty the container and refill the water tank to a maximum. Relaunch a new operation for rinsing the appliance by holding down one of the buttons fig 3 and fig 10. 8 Once this last cycle has finished, reposition the Claris cartridge; your appliance is ready for use once more

Never use any other descaling method than that advised.
