I guess that we've talked time and time again about the fact that the Internet has become the most important content-delivery mechanism, being used for transmitting very large amounts of information to computers and NAS units from all over the world. The biggest problem, however, is related to the way in which the respective content can be watched on a widescreen HDTV. In fact, there are quite a lot of streaming solutions available on the market, the latest product of this type coming from a fairly well-known name in the world of networking-related devices, namely ZyXEL. Hence, as DCViews informs us, the DMA-2500 (that's the pretty dull name of this new Digital Media adapter) is able to stream 1080p High-Definition Videos from networked storage to your HD, as well as all sorts of other types of content. Since it's compliant with the DLNA1.5 standard, the DMA-2500 ensures digital content such as photos, music and videos can be very easily and rapidly shared with consumer electronics, PC and mobile devices anywhere at home without barrier. Moreover, it automatically finds media servers on one's home network and allows users to access them in a fast and easy manner. As expected (and similar to most other devices of this type available out there), the gadget from ZyXEL is compatible with some of the most popular video and audio codec formats out there, including H.264, WMV9, VC1, DivX, Xvid, WMA, etc., as well as most file types, such as MKV,.AVI,.WMV,.ISO,.IFO,.VOB,.MOV and.MPG. Plus, and this is quite an important issue, the DMA-2500 is DRM-compatible, allowing users to easily play encrypted video and audio files. Now, for the pricing. Despite the fact that ZyXEL has not officially announced this product, it can already be found at various online retailers for somewhere in the vicinity of 280 Euro (370 US dollars), which is pretty well within the price range of other streaming devices available on the market.
