HP SmartStart for EVA Storage 3.3
HP SmartStart for EVA storage (SSEVA) is software that delivers specific startup support for the HP StorageWorks EVA SAN Starter Kit and EVA4400, EVA4100 and EVA4000models. SSEVA is a simple to use, software wizard that will get the new EVA user up and running in a minimum of mouse clicks. With extensive help features and on screen instruction, SSEVA will aid in the installation of HP StorageWorks Command View EVA, install and setup the host HBA and Multipath software, perform initialization and configuration of the EVA disk groups, presentation of EVA virtual disks and host configuration of the EVA presented LUNs. Version 3.3 is included in each EVA4400 SAN Starter Kit. It can also be ordered independently to provide the same benefits for other EVA4000 series models. The media kit can be ordered as either a CD set or as an E-Media kit.

HP SmartStart for EVA was designed specifically for customers new to the EVA as a valuable self help tool to do installation of HP StorageWorks Command View EVA and necessary drivers, and then provision their storage. This can ease the total cost of installation and set up for cost conscious buyers. If the customer is concerned about the installation experience, it is recommended that they contact their HP Services representative for installation and start up support. While primarily developed for new EVA customers, experienced users may also find this software a valuable tool for self installation of HP StorageWorks Command View EVA, drivers, and provisioning storage.

SmartStart for EVA Storage
SSEVA is a configuration utility that simplifies the startup of an EVA4x00 storage array. Through onscreen instructions and help it will guide the customer through all the following steps: HP StorageWorks Command View EVA installation on a regular server. Command View EVA comes pre-installed on your EVA4400 array hardware. Host HBA setup Multipath install and setup EVA initialization EVA configuration of disk groups EVA configuration of virtual disks Presentation of Vdisks Includes host configuration of EVA presented LUNs Microsoft Simple SAN component designation Support for EVA4400 embedded switches and 8Gb/s HBAs

Memory Footprint

SmartStart will reside in memory and not require to be installed on the host The only interaction with files will be reading from the CD, a temporary folder, or to install the required components The intent is to keep the memory footprint for SmartStart as small as possible (this is for SmartStart only; CV EVA will take space on the user system once installed) SSEVA is a single user, single threaded application. It executes on a single machine as it installs system drivers, array software and configures hosts for array access. It is a client/server application with the client and server on the same host. SSEVA is set up to auto run when inserted in your server's CD ROM drive.
