The first tangible result of the collaboration between Microsoft and Nokia has arrived. Enterprises can now streamline their business messaging with Microsoft Communicator Mobile for Nokia Symbian devices starting with Nokia Eseries.
Microsoft Communicator Mobile a presence and instant messaging application for compatible Nokia devices. Able to connect directly to Microsoft Office Communications Server located behind your enterprise firewall through the cellular data network. In the current business model its increasingly important to know how colleagues can be reached. This allows your workforce a 360 view on contact status and availability. Using a traffic light system available, busy, do not disturb, away the workforce can be alerted of each others status, allowing them to call, instant message or email respectively. This mobile application delivers a similar presence and instant messaging user experience as it does on the PC-based Microsoft Communicator.

Contact list

All contacts, available contacts and recent contacts are indicated to the user. This enables instant messaging, emails or cellular calls to be made directly from the contacts in your company directory a listing that also shows presence status. The search function supports partial names and best effort matching for quick contacts searching.

Traffic lights show the current status of each contact; this is automatically generated based on Microsoft Outlook Calendar information and user activity. Users can modify their own presence status.

Begin an instant message directly from the contact list.Conversations with one or many contacts can coexist in one session and multiple sessions can run simultaneously for greater flexibility.
