HP Deskjet and HP Deskwriter Series Printers - Paper Feed Problems

QUESTION: What can be done if the printer has a problem feeding or picking up paper? ANSWER: Ensure that the paper has been loaded properly. When facing the front of the printer, the paper should be loaded as far to the right side of the printer as possible, with the paper length and width guides pressing snugly against the stack's edges without bending the paper. Other steps that can be taken to improve paper feed problems are listed below:
Only load paper of one type, size, and weight at a time. Do not overfill the IN tray. Loading too much paper will not allow the paper feed mechanism to operate properly. Avoid using paper that is not within the printer's recommended specifications. If the printer's paper feed rollers become covered with debris (dust or paper fibers) cleaning the rollers may allow the printer to feed paper normally. Remove and reinsert the paper tray assembly.
NOTE: If the paper tray does not easily slide into the printer and lock into place, refer to the document HP Deskjet 890C, 870C, 850C, and 820C Series Printers - Paper Jam, Grinding Noise, or Carriage Stall. Follow the procedures to check and clear a carriage stall. The tray should then slide back into the printer with ease.
If paper did not eject from the printer, press the Resume button to eject the paper. If that does not eject the paper, turn the printer off and back on again.

Remove all paper from the printer and remove the IN/OUT tray. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume button to feed the paper out. Release the Resume button and press it again to feed the paper in the opposite direction, if needed. After all jammed paper is removed, replace the IN/OUT tray and cycle the power. Solution Remove the paper, separate any stuck paper, and reload it. Make sure that the paper is appropriate for use with the printer.
