HP DeskJet 890C and PhotoREt II The color printing breakthrough
Hewlett-Packard takes the speed and quality of color inkjet printing to a higher level with an amazing new technology called PhotoREt II.
And heres good news for businessthe new HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer has PhotoREt II technology built in. Compare output from the HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer with other inkjet printers and youll immediately see the difference PhotoREt II makes in image quality. The HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer uses PhotoREt II and a new all-in-one color/photo print cartridge to deliver the smallest, most precise ink drops in the inkjet printer industry.* These strategically-placed tiny drops mean great things for professional-looking business documents. More levels of color and fewer visible dots for superior photo-quality output Outstanding print quality on any paper, including ordinary office paper Professional color and black printing without compromising speed
HP PhotoREt II Conventional Inkjet
PhotoREt II strategically places up to 16 tiny ink drops in a single dot to achieve precise printable colors.
HP PhotoREt II
Conventional inkjets are limited to two drops of ink per dot, which the human eye must blend to create the illusion of color. As a result, PhotoREt II gives you better photo-quality output with fewer visible dots, more shades
for precise color, and smoother color transitions.
The HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer also uses exclusive HP SmartFocus technology to dramatically improve the print quality of low resolution imageslike those printed from the Internet. This unique feature automatically optimizes low res graphics so you can print Internet images that look better than ever. The HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer is the do-it-all business printer that makes everyone happy. Its ideal for the fast-pace office, delivering black text at 9 pages per minute and high-quality color graphics with text at 5 ppm. Its affordable as a personal desktop printer, yet speedy and rugged enough for a shared-printer office. And, it makes every page look professional, whether its printed on plain office paper or special project paper. HP has changed the business of color inkjet printing with the HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series printer. Smaller drops, more levels of color, outstanding print qualityeven on plain paper, affordable desktop or shared printing, faster than ever. Its clearly an incredible breakthrough in color inkjet printing!

HP Deskjet and HP Deskwriter Series Printers - Paper Feed Problems
return to original page
QUESTION: What can be done if the printer has a problem feeding or picking up paper? ANSWER: Ensure that the paper has been loaded properly. When facing the front of the printer, the paper should be loaded as far to the right side of the printer as possible, with the paper length and width guides pressing snugly against the stack's edges without bending the paper. Other steps that can be taken to improve paper feed problems are listed below:
Only load paper of one type, size, and weight at a time. Do not overfill the IN tray. Loading too much paper will not allow the paper feed mechanism to operate properly. Avoid using paper that is not within the printer's recommended specifications. If the printer's paper feed rollers become covered with debris (dust or paper fibers) cleaning the rollers may allow the printer to feed paper normally. Remove and reinsert the paper tray assembly.
NOTE: If the paper tray does not easily slide into the printer and lock into place, refer to the document HP Deskjet 890C, 870C, 850C, and 820C Series Printers - Paper Jam, Grinding Noise, or Carriage Stall. Follow the procedures to check and clear a carriage stall. The tray should then slide back into the printer with ease.
If paper did not eject from the printer, press the Resume button to eject the paper. If that does not eject the paper, turn the printer off and back on again.
DETAILS: Refer to the following table: Problem Possible cause Solution Load paper into the IN tray and press the Resume button.

Push in the paper length adjuster to make sure that the paper is fully seated in the printer. Do not push so hard that the paper buckles. The IN tray is too full. Load no more than 150 sheets of 20-lb paper in the IN tray. The paper stack should not exceed.75 inches.

Make sure that the stack is even and does not contain wrinkled, curled, or damaged paper. Reload so the stack's right side aligns with the printer's right. Contact HP Customer Care. If the OUT tray is not too full, the paper tray assembly may not be properly installed on the printer. Remove and reinstall the paper tray assembly. Turn off the printer. Turn on the computer first and then turn on the printer. If the software does not send automatic form feed commands, press the Resume button on the printer to initiate a manual form feed. Remove all paper from the printer and remove the IN/OUT tray. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume button to feed the paper out. Release the Resume button and press it again to feed the paper in the opposite direction, if needed. After all jammed paper is removed, replace the IN/OUT tray and cycle the power. Solution Remove the paper, separate any stuck paper, and reload it. Make sure that the paper is appropriate for use with the printer.
The printer is faulty. The printer does not drop any paper from the wings to the OUT tray. The OUT tray is too full, or the paper tray is not installed correctly.
