Creating a finished booklet and making a proof copy.

Application:

Your customer has an 8-page original to be made into an 8.5 x 11 finished booklet (folded and saddle stitched). Ten copies are needed for a meeting. In order to check the appearance and finishing of the document a proof copy is required. Use the 8 Page Numbered Original for this exercise.

Steps/Keystrokes:

Choose the Paper Select Choose 11 x 17 paper Choose Application Choose Booklet Pagination Be sure Left Hand Bind is chosen Choose Basic Touch Folding Touch Fold and Staple (choose either Center Erase or No) Note: The system is defaulted to automatically activate Booklet Pagination when Fold and Staple is chosen. 9. Set (Distribution) Numbering
Distribution numbers are most commonly used either for security or to document that a specific individual or individuals have read a particular publication. This feature sequentially prints large, screened (lightly printed) numbers on al the document of a copy or print job. These numbers will correspond to those on a distribution list which identifies a specific individual with each number. For security applications, the distribution numbers make it easy to identify who is responsible for replicating a document, should this occur. Most commonly found in the health care, legal practices, and law enforcement vertical markets, distribution numbering for individual identification is applied when a document is circulated which is required to be read by a group of people. These individuals names are sequentially numbered and retained on a distribution list. When a must read document is distributed, each person on the list reads, signs, and makes a copy of it. The original is returned to the administration department and the copy is retained for ones personal records. If there is ever a question as to whether a particular individual or individuals has read a document, the signed and numbered original is the proof that they have done so. This is an often-overlooked application, which is easily uncovered by asking a prospect or client if they maintain a distribution list. Use four numbered originals (1 4).
