Thank you for contacting a technical support representative to obtain information about returning your magicolor 2430 DL/magicolor 2450 for warranty exchange. Follow these instructions very carefully. If you need additional assistance, refer to the General Information Guide (included with the original printer) or printer.konicaminolta.com for worldwide sources of service and support.

Attention

Failure to follow these instructions could result in voiding your warranty.

Exchange Procedure

Each of these steps is explained in detail in this guide.
Unpack the exchange printer. Prepare the original printerturn it off, unplug the power cord, and remove the interface cables and dust cover.

Move the consumables (the four toner cartridges, the See page 6. drum cartridge, and the transfer belt unit) from the original printer to the exchange printer. Finish setting up the exchange printerplug it in, attach See page 12. the interface cables, turn it on, install the dust cover, and fill the tray with media. Repack the original printer, and call the shipper for pickup. See page 14.
Unpack the Exchange Printer
Use caution when unpacking the exchange printer, so the packaging (including the tape) can be used to repack the printer to be returned.
1 Unpack the exchange printer. WARNING!
The printer weighs approximately 40 lbs/18 kg without consumables. Be sure to have help when lifting and moving it.

2 Remove the tape from the

3 Open the input and exit trays

on the exchange printer.

4 Remove the fuser separators from the exchange printer.

Prepare the Original Printer
1 Turn off the original printer, unplug the power cord, and remove

the interface cable(s).

1 magicolor 2430 DL: At the control panel of the original printer,
access the ENGINE/SERVICE/REMOVE ALL TONER menu and choose YES. The toner cartridge carousel moves into removal position, and OPEN DOOR/REMOVE TONER C displays in the message window. magicolor 2450: At the control panel of the original printer, access the QUALITY MENU/REPLACE TONER/CYAN and choose YES. The toner cartridge carousel moves into removal position, and OPEN DOOR AND/REPLACE C TONER displays in the message window.
2 Remove the cyan toner cartridge.

3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 three more times to move the original
printers remaining toner cartridges into removal position and then remove them: black (K), yellow (Y), and then magenta (M).
4 magicolor 2430 DL: At the control panel of the exchange printer,
access the ENGINE/SERVICE/REPLACE TONER menu and choose CYAN. 5 Insert the cyan toner cartridge into the exchange printer.

carousel into position on the exchange printer, and insert the remaining toner cartridges: black (K), yellow (Y), and magenta (M).

1 Open the top cover of the original printer, and then carefully pull

out the drum cartridge.

1 With the top cover of the
original printer still open, disconnect the transfer belt unit connector.

2 Remove two screws

unit out of the original printer, and then close the top cover. Be careful not to scratch the transfer belt.

Close the top cover of the exchange printer.
8 Open the fuser tabs on the
original printer. It is important to release the pressure on the fuser roller before shipping the printer.
9 Close the top cover of the original printer.
Move the Power Cord, Interface Cables, and Dust Cover
1 Plug the power cord into the
exchange printer and into an electrical socket.
2 Plug the interface cable(s) into the exchange printer.
3 Turn on the exchange printer.

4 Install the dust cover (2 pieces), and fill the tray with paper.
Repack the Original Printer
1 Replace the packing tape
on the outside of the original printer.
2 Repack the original printer in the
carton in which the exchange printer was shipped.

Original 14 Original

3 Securely tape the top flaps of the shipping carton closed.
4 In the Americas, clearly write the RMA (Return Merchandise
Authorization) number you received from your customer support representative on the outside of the carton before calling the shipper for pickup. If the RMA number is not prominently visible on the outside of the return carton, we will not accept receipt.
5 Ship the printer, using the shipper and shipping label provided
with the exchange printer.
