Sharps AL2040CS laser copier/printer/scanner is the perfect addition to any home or small business setting. This multifunction device has two, 250-sheet paper trays, a 50-sheet automatic document feeder and makes 2-sided copies (one-sided originals only). The AL2040 CS outputs 16 copies per minute and prints 16 pages per minute. In addition to the USB 2.0 connection, the built-in network card allows the user to easily share the printing capabilities of this device with others on their network.

Classification B&W MFPs From $500 To $750 At $549, Sharp's AL2040CS Multifunctional Printer will likely attract home users and small offices and workgroups that tend to have limited budgets. Unlike most B&W systems in this class, there is no walk-up fax or network scanning (only direct B&W or color scanning to a single computer workstation). Strengths Sharpdesk 2.7 software for managing scanned files and for OCR. TWAIN driver for pull scanning. Relatively low B&W Cost Per Page and Total Cost of Ownership. Note: Sharp rates this system at up to 20 ppm in copy mode and at up 10 ppm in print mode. Limitations Microsoft Windows GDI printing only (no PCL or PostScript print drivers). No duplexing document feeder (ADF cannot automatically scan both sides of an original). Direct scanning to a single PC and TWAIN "pull scanning" only (no network scanning). No fax.
Best Use Small-businesses and workgroups, as well as home users, that have B&W network print and copy applications on letter- and legal-size media, with direct-to-PC scanning, and no fax applications.
