Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this camera. Everything you need to take quality digital photos and videos is included with your camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Note: Your camera needs an SD Memory card (up to 32GB) for normal use. SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital camera.

When powering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the initial camera setup.
Powering the Camera ON
1) Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. Use 3x AAA (1.5v) batteries. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use. 2) Make sure an SD card has been properly inserted into your camera (until a click sound is heard). Note: After the camera is powered on, an SD icon will appear on the LCD display. If you do not see the SD icon on the display, please check if the card was inserted properly. 3) Press the POWER button to turn on the camera.
Setting the Camera Language
1) You will first be prompted to select a language for the camera. The Language selection menu will appear. Select the language of your choice and press the SET button to confirm the selection. 2) After selecting a language, you will be asked if you would like to continue with the initial camera setup. A message will appear: Continue with Camera Setup? Select Yes to continue or No to exit the setup. Note: If you select No and decide to leave the camera setup, the camera will be set to its default settings. These settings can be adjusted at any time manually through the menus in the camera.
Setting the Date and Time
The next step in the initial camera setup is to set the date and time on the camera.
Set the Date and Time as Desired and press the SET button to confirm the selection and move to the next part of the camera setup.
Setting the ViviLink Default Option
Once the Date and Time have been set, you will be asked to set the default ViviLink destination for photos and videos taken with your camera. The ViviLink technology allows you to quickly and easily upload your cameras photos and videos to the social networks of your choice with the accompanying software application. 1) First you will be asked to choose the default ViviLink social network for Photos. Highlight the desired default social network and press the SET button to confirm the selection. 2) Next you will be asked to choose the default ViviLink social network for Videos. Highlight the desired default social network and press the SET button to confirm the selection. 3) After the ViviLink Video option is confirmed the camera is now ready to use.
Computer System Requirements Windows

Using Your Digital Camera
Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. If your camera comes with a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged before the first use.
Powering the camera ON
Press the Power button to start. to turn your camera ON. The camera will be in Photo Capture mode
Powering the camera OFF
While the camera is on, you can press the Power button again at any point to turn your
camera OFF. You will see a Goodbye splash screen and then the camera will power off completely. Note: Your digital camera also has an Auto Power Off feature that will automatically turn off
your camera after a specific period of time that your camera is left idle. The Auto Power Off settings can be set from the Auto Power Off settings menu.
Changing Camera Mode
Your camera has three main modes: 1) 2) 3) Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camera. Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camera. Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the photos and videos you have already taken with your camera.
When the camera is first powered ON, the Photo Capture Mode will be active. The icons that appear on the LCD screen are the best default settings so that you can begin to capture and enjoy clear quality photos.
To change the active camera mode, make sure the camera is powered ON and press the MODE button on the back of the camera.
When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Video Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Playback Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
Navigating the Menus
Each camera mode has a set of menus specific to that mode. 1) 2) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll between the various menus for the current mode. 3) 4) 5) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to highlight the desired menu selection. Press the SET button to confirm and select the highlighted menu option. If the selection can be remembered by the camera, a selection icon will appear to the
right of the selected menu option. Changes made to these options will remain as is until you decide to change them again at a later time. 6) Some menu options are single-use functions that are not remembered by the camera and do not display this icon when selected. 7) At any time you can press the MODE button to exit the menus and return to the previous screen.
Photo Capture Mode
The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital camera.
Taking a Picture
1) While in Photo Capture mode, use the LCD display on the back of the camera to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture. 2) Click the T/Zoom In and W/Zoom Out buttons to zoom in/out if desired. Note: The actual shape of these buttons may vary per camera model. 3) 4) Click the Shutter button on the top of the camera to take the picture. The picture will automatically be saved to the memory or SD card.
Taking a Self Portrait Picture
You can also capture your photos using the flip screen which opens to 180 degrees. 1) Before taking the photo, ensure that the Macro Switch on the side of the camera is up and in the ON position 2). The flower icon will appear on the LCD display.
When you would like to quickly include yourself in the photo, simply flip the LCD display out and hold the camera steady facing towards you at arms length (30~45cm).

Make sure you can see yourself on the LCD screen. Look at the camera lens. Click the Shutter button to take the picture. Its as easy as twist and shoot! Self Portrait photos taken without Macro mode ON may not be properly focused.
Photo Capture Mode Quick Function Buttons
Your digital camera has a four-directional pad that functions as Quick Function buttons:
Button Left

Up Right Down
Delete Last Photo Allows you to delete the last photo taken ViviLink Opens the ViviLink menu
Hide/Show the LCD Icons
The display of the icons on the LCD screen can be hidden or visible as desired. 1) 2) Hold the MODE button for 2 seconds to hide the display of the icons on the screen. Press the MODE button again to redisplay the icons on the screen.
Flash Options
There are several Flash options available on your camera. The options appear on the Photo Capture Mode LCD screen in the sequence. To change the Flash mode, press the Up Quick Function button until you arrive at your desired settings. Note: The Macro mode must be turned OFF when you want to use the Flash. Slide the Macro Switch to the mountain icon. The icon will appear on the LCD display.
Flash Type
Description No flash will appear. Use this when you do not want to activate Flash. When you want the camera to determine if Flash is needed, select Auto Flash. The flash will automatically turn on according to the lighting
Forced Off (Default) A Auto Flash
conditions. Note: An initial flash appears to test your lighting conditions. If flash is needed, a second flash will appear upon taking the photo. Forced On The flash is enabled for each photo. Note: If you use this option in a well lit environment, your photo may be appear too bright/light (overexposed). Red Eye Eliminates the red-eye effect in a photo caused by flash.
Macro Switch
Your camera contains a Macro Switch that allows you to manually enable or disable the Macro mode on your camera. While using the Macro mode, you can capture images at close range (30 ~ 45 cm). To turn the Macro mode ON, slide the Macro Switch up on the side of your camera to the flower icon. When enabled, the Macro mode will allow your camera to focus on an object will appear on the LCD and indicates that the Macro
that is close to the camera. The icon mode is on.
To turn Macro mode OFF, slide the Macro Switch down on the side of the camera to the mountain icon. The icon from 1.5m - infinity. will appear on the LCD. When Macro mode is off, images can be captured
Note: Using Flash, Face Detect and Smile Capture: The Macro mode must be turned OFF when you want to use the following features of your camera: Flash, Face Detect and Smile Capture.
Slide the Macro Switch to the mountain icon. The icon will appear on the LCD display. Using the Self Portrait feature: The Macro mode must be turned ON when you would like to take a Self Portrait photo using the flip screen LCD display. Slide the Macro Switch up to the flower icon. The icon will appear on the LCD display.

The following are the menus that appear in your cameras Photo Capture Mode:
Scene Menu
The Scene Menu allows you to choose scene settings that allow your camera to adapt properly to your current environment.

Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the SET button to select the desired option. A selected option icon will appear on the selected item.
Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item. Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to your previous mode. An icon reflecting your selection will display on the LCD screen. Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the cameras default factory settings.
Image Resolution Menu
The Image Resolution menu allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher resolution will also take up more of your cameras memory. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Image Quality Menu
The Image Quality menu allows you to select the desired quality level of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality level will also take up more memory on your camera.

Self-Timer Menu
The Self-Timer menu allows you to set a delay between the time that the cameras shutter button is pressed and the actual capture of the picture. This is an optimal feature if you dont just want to take the picture but would also like to be in the picture yourself. Just set the desired self-timer delay, press the shutter button on your camera and position yourself in front of the camera as desired.

Anti-Shake Menu
The Anti-Shake feature reduces image distortion that can be caused by movement of the camera while capturing the image.
Face Detect Menu
The Face Detect feature when set to On allows the camera to use a subjects face as the basis for balancing the other colors and focus in the cameras display. This feature is meant to ensure that the color and focus of your pictures will be consistently sharp and high-quality.
Note: To properly use the Face Detect option, please ensure the following: Macro mode off - Face Detect will not work if the camera is in Macro mode. Push the Macro Switch on the side of the camera for the mountain icon to appear on the LCD.
Anti-Shake - Ensure that the Anti-Shake option is set to On. The Anti-Shake option is On by default when you start using your camera and assists you in properly focusing the image.
Distance from the camera The subjects face must be no further than 8 to 9 feet (3.5 meters) from the camera and the face must cover at least 20% (1 / 5th) of the picture as seen on the LCD screen.
Facing the camera - The face of the subject(s) you are photographing must be facing the camera and must hold the pose for at least 4 to 5 seconds until the green square(s) appears around the subject`s face. Face Detect will not work with a side shot of the subject`s head.
Smile Capture Menu
The Smile Capture feature when set to On allows the camera to automatically take a picture when it detects that a subject in the picture is smiling.
Note: To properly use the Smile Capture feature, please ensure the following: Macro mode off Smile Capture will not work if the camera is in Macro mode. Push the Macro Switch on the side of the camera for the mountain icon to appear on the LCD.
Distance from the camera The subjects face must cover a majority of the picture as seen on the LCD screen.
Facing the camera - The face of the subject(s) you are photographing must be facing the camera and must hold the pose for at least 4 to 5 seconds until the green square(s) appears around the subject`s face. Once a smile is detected the camera will automatically take the picture. Smile Capture will not work with a side shot of the subject`s head.
White Balance Menu
The White Balance feature allows your camera to adjust the coloring of the captured images depending on the type of light source in the current environment. Properly adjusting the White Balance setting to match your current environment will allow the camera to properly balance the colors in the images that are taken with your camera.
An icon reflecting your selection will display on the LCD screen Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the cameras default factory settings.
Color Effect Menu
You can choose to add a color effect to the images taken with your camera.

Multi SnapsShots Menu
When enabled, the Multi SnapShots feature allows you to take five rapid snapshots in a row with a single click of the shutter button. This feature can be effective when trying to capture a particular moment in a sporting event or other scenes with quick movements.

Image Sharpness Menu
You can set the level of sharpness in the images taken with your camera. The sharpness level dictates if the edges of objects in the image are more or less distinct.
Center Averages the light metered from the entire frame, but giving greater weight to the subject in the center Multi Used in standard conditions the camera divides and adjusts the settings of the image into several zones for light metering such as complex light conditions, position of subject, brightness, background, direct light and scenes Spot Meters the area within the spot point frame at the center of the LCD to set the exposure on the subject in the center of the monitor.
Language Menu
You can select your cameras language setting by selecting the desired language from the Language menu.

Date/Time Menu
When you capture an image with your camera, the image will include a time stamp with the date and time that the image was taken. The Date/Time menu allows you to set your cameras date and time as desired. You can also disable the timestamp for future images that will be taken with your camera. To Enable/Disable the Timestamp: 1) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode.

For each field in the menu, use the UP and DOWN navigation buttons to set the time and date. 8) Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to your previous screen.
Silent Mode Menu
You have the option of activating the cameras silent mode to disable all of the sound effects that the camera emits when performing camera functions. Note: In some versions of this camera the Selftimer countdown will emit sounds even when the Silent mode is on. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 10) If you selected to save, the cropped picture will now be saved as a new picture to your memory card.
Protect/Lock Menu
Pictures and Videos taken with your camera can be protected or locked to prevent any deletion or alteration being made to the files.
Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the SET button to select the desired option. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item. Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to your previous mode. Any image that is locked will display a lock symbol on the LCD screen when viewing that image in the playback mode. Photos that are not locked will not display the lock symbol.
Remember that you cannot delete or edit photos while they are locked.
Print Photos Menu
You can use the Print Photos menu to print the photos that are on your camera directly to a Pictbridge compatible printer.
Scroll through your pictures and find the one you would like to print. Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the SET button when highlighting the Print This Photo option to print the selected photo.
You will be asked to connect the camera to the Pictbridge printer. Connect the USB cable provided in the package form the camera to the Pictbridge port of the printer.
Once connected, follow the instructions on the printer to proceed with the printing process. Select the Cancel option to exit the menu and return to the previous mode.
Slide Show Menu
You can view a slideshow of all the pictures taken with your camera by pressing the Up Quick Function button while in Playback mode. The Slideshow menu allows you to set the interval length of time that each picture will display during the slideshow. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item. Press the MODE button to exit the menu and return to your previous mode. While in Playback mode, press the Up Quick Function button to initiate the slideshow. Press any button to exit the slideshow and return to the previous mode.
The Light Exposure setting helps you control the amount of light that enters your cameras lens. This setting should be adjusted when the environment is lighter or darker than normal.
When the environment has more light than is needed, reduce the exposure setting (by using the negative - count) to reduce the amount of light allowed into the lens by your camera.
If the environment has less light (darker) than is needed, increase the exposure setting (by using the positive + count) to increase the amount of light allowed into the lens by your camera.
Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the SET button to select the desired option.

The Metering setting will affect how your camera focuses when capturing an image. Depending on your selection, the camera will be more sensitive to focusing on particular areas in the display and adjust the image color and lighting accordingly. Audio Menu
The Audio menu allows you to control the cameras ability to record audio in the video clips recorded with your camera in addition to the video record. Auto Power off Menu
You can use the Auto Power Off feature in order to conserve you cameras battery life. The designated time represents when your camera will automatically power off. When the camera sits idle for the designated period of time, the camera will shut off completely and will need to be turned on again with the power button before the next use.
Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. Press the SET (OK) button to select the desired option.

The options in the Frequency menu represent the frequency of the electrical current in fluorescent lighting sources in your locale. If your camera is set to a frequency that does not match your countrys electric current, you may see flickering or waves on the images taken by your camera. 50Hz UK, Europe and Australia 60Hz US, Canada and South America
Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. Transfer media from my camera to my computer manually (Using Macintosh)
1) 2) 3) 4) Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer. MSDC appears on the LCD. The cameras device icon appears on the desktop. Click on the device icon and open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files. 5) Select the files and drag them into your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose Copy from the Finders Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu. 6) We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures folder and the videos into the Movies folder. 7) Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer.

The digital camera is a delicate device. Please handle your camera with care to avoid damaging it. Do not expose your camera to heat sources. Do not use you camera in wet or moist conditions.

Troubleshooting
Q: I have taken photos and selected the Get Images button. I get a message that the images were successfully transferred but the photos do not appear on my computer. What do I do? First ensure that you have in fact taken photos. Press the Shutter button to take some sample photos and then try downloading them again. With test photos if the camera powers off before you upload them to the computer the photos are not stored in the camera`s memory. These photos should be uploaded quickly before the camera powers off. If the photos are saved to the SD memory card then all the photos should appear.
Q: How do I make sure I don't lose important pictures? This camera requires an SD card for normal use. If the camera powers off nothing will happen to the images stored on the SD memory card. We recommend always downloading your photos to your computer as soon as possible to prevent unintentional data loss.
Q: I deleted images using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager. The images were also deleted from my computer. How do I recover images that I accidently deleted? All images deleted using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager are sent to your computer`s Recycle or Trash Bin and can be retrieved from there.

Preparing Your Camera for Use
Install lithium battery Your digital camera needs a lithium battery in order to operate. The battery is found separately in the packaging. To install it correctly see the diagram below: 1. Slide and open the battery door.
Insert the battery correctly with the correct polarity facing up. Close the battery door.
Note: 1. A Low battery message will appear on the LCD when the battery power is insufficient. Shortly thereafter your camera will power off. 2. 3. Please remove your battery when you dont intend to use your camera for a long time. Test photos taken with the camera should be downloaded otherwise they will be lost when the camera
loses power and turns off or when the battery door is opened to replace the battery.
Charge lithium battery Please charge the battery as below 2 methods: A. Charge with USB cable Insert the lithium battery into your camera correctly, and connect your camera to computer with USB cable. The red LED of camera will be light on indicating that your camera is in charging status, the LED will be off when charge full. B. Charge with supplied charger Your camera is supplied a compatible charger for you, you are only required to put the battery into charger and charge the lithium battery directly from electrical outlet
Installing SD Memory Card
Your camera has a memory card slot that enables you to insert any SD compatible memory card up to 8BG. Adding a memory card will allow you to increase the capacity of your camera before you have to transfer photos and videos to your PC. Install the SD memory card as below: 1. 2. Locate the Memory Card slot within the battery compartment. Insert the Memory card into the slot in the correct direction. (see the sketch below)
Push the card in until you feel it click into position. The top of the card should be flushed with the surface of the camera. An icon will appear on the LCD screen after you turn on your camera.
Once the external memory card is inserted into the camera all the images taken with the camera will be stored on the card.
Note: 1. 2. Limited internal memory is provided for test images. The image will be deleted when camera power is turned off. Please download the images before power off.SD memory card is required for normal use. An external memory card is required for normal use. Your camera supports any compatible SD memory card (up to 8GB). 3. If there is a photo in the internal memory when you insert the card into your camera, a Copy to card message will appear on the LCD with Yes or No options. On selecting Yes the photo will now be copied to your card. 4. Formatting will delete all data on the SD memory card including protected data.
Dont remove the SD card during formatting as this may damage the card and render it unusable. When your card is full, download the media on the SD card to your PC and delete the photos and videos from it in order to continue using your camera
Starting Your Digital Camera
Power on Press the Power button on the top of the camera once to turn on your camera. The LCD will light up, this indicates your camera is turned on and ready for use. Power off Press the Power button once to turn off your camera. When there is insufficient battery power and icon will appear on the LCD screen. Your camera will automatically power off after a few seconds.
Finger Touch Screen feature Your digital camera supports a touch screen feature for convenient and quick operation. Merely use your finger to touch the relevant parts of the screen in order to activate the corresponding functions. The touch areas on the LCD screen are displayed below:
Mode selection Your digital touch screen camera has 4 main modes Still Image mode, Video mode, Playback mode and Set up mode. The Still Image mode is for you to take still photos. You can shoot video files while in Video mode. In Playback mode you can preview photos and videos as well as being able to delete, rotate, protect, crop and print your photos. You can set Exposure, ISO, White Balance, Quality, Auto Power off, Date, Format and Default settings in Set up mode.

Note: If you are in the Playback or Video mode, pressing the Home button will exit these modes and open the Still Image mode.
Still Image mode This is the default mode when you power on your camera.
Taking Photos 1. 2. 3. Compose your shot using the LCD screen. Hold the camera steady and press the shutter button to take the photo. There will be a short delay while the camera saves the photo to memory.
After each photo is shot (when the camera returns to icon mode) the numbers of photos left to shoot at the selected resolution is displayed on the LCD screen. When the camera's memory (photo capacity) is full, the LCD screen will display a message - Memory Full, Insert a SD memory card to Transfer and Take More Photos! Either download the photo to your computer using the Photags Express software as described below in the section Download photos and videos to your PC or insert another SD card to continue taking more photos.
Digital Zoom function You can magnify your subject using the digital zoom by touching the icon and function area.

Press the Shutter button to start the self-timer. Your camera will count down 2, 5 or 10 seconds as per your choice and then automatically take the photo.
Scene Your camera supplies many scenes for you to take photos in almost any environment. Scene included with your camera are Auto, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Portrait, Scenery, Sport, Party, Beach or High Sensitivity. You can choose your best scenery according to your light and environmental conditions. 1. Press the Menu/OK button.

Image Size The image size and quality settings determine the number of photos that can be saved and the amount of memory required for each photo. The higher the photo quality the more memory it will take. The image size and quality will also affect the maximum size you can effectively print your photo. To set the Image size:

Anti-Shake Your Digital Camera has a function that prevents photos coming out blurry as a result of trembling or shaking when taking the photo. You are not required to use a tripod in order to take good quality photos. 1. Press the Menu/OK button.

Face Detection Your camera supports face detecting that allows you to take better portrait photos. 1. Press the Menu/OK button.

Note: The Face Detection icon will appear on the LCD screen.
Setup Menu You can set the Exposure, White Balance, Sharpness, Quality, ISO, Date, Auto Power Off, Language, Frequency, Format and Default Setting.
Press the Home button for the main menu to appear on the LCD.

ISO This is a special function that allows you to compensate the light conditions when the light source is not good and you also specifically do not wish to use a flash or tripod. When using ISO sensitization, please choose the low value ISO to prevent spots or blotches appearing on your photo.

White Balance This setting allows the camera to adjust the color of your photos according to the color of your light source. 1. 2. 3. 4. Sharpness This setting allows you to adjust the sharpness of your images, making edges more or less distinct. 1. Touch the icon function area until you see the Sharpness option.

Quality The quality of your photos also affects the number of shots you can take. A HIGH setting means you can take fewer photos, but they will be of better quality. The default value is STANDARD.

Format This function will format the memory card and will erase all files in memory including files that have been protected. Important: Please use this function with caution. Once formatted all the images stored in the memory will be erase. This process is irreversible. Please download all images to the PC before formatting the card.

White Balance You can select different White Balance for shooting videos. 1. Press the Menu/OK button.
Touch the WB area to enter the White Balance menu. Touch the icon function area to select the best white balance for shooting.
Press the Menu/OK button to confirm, save and exit to the video standby mode.
Image Size Your camera supports 2 video resolutions- 640x480 (VGA) pixels, 320x240 (QVGA) pixels. 1. Press the Menu/OK button.
Touch the MP function area to enter Image Size menu. Touch the icon function area to select VGA or QVGA.
Playback Mode Set your camera to Playback mode (please refer to Mode Selection). Here you can preview the photos and videos you have captured and recorded. In Playback mode you can rotate, protect, delete and crop your photos and you can protect and delete video clips. You can also print photos directly from your camera using
PictBridge.
Note: The message, No File Exist will be displayed on the LCD screen if there are no photos or videos in your camera. Press the Home button to return to the Still Image mode and begin to take photos.
Full screen to Thumbnail display
When the camera is in the Playback Mode and an image appears on the LCD screen: 1. 2. 3. 4. Touch the icon function area.

Press the Menu/OK button to display the photo or video in full screen.

Delete Delete unwanted photos and videos at any time in order to free up memory. Note: you cannot delete the file which is locked.
Crop Image Crop your photos to show and save a specific portion of an image or to highlight certain focal points. The Crop feature lets you zoom in on an image and then save that part of the image as a new photo.

Pictbridge Your camera allows you to print the photos with a Pictbridge compatible printer.

Installing PhoTags Express Software
NOTE: Before attempting to install the software, make sure that you do not have the cameras USB cable attached to your computer. This will affect the install process and can cause a failed installation of the camera software and drivers. In order to install the Software and drivers to download and edit the photos and videos captured using this camera, you need to install the CD installation disk. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation screen should automatically open.
Warning: DO NOT PLUG YOUR CAMERA INTO THE USB PORT UNTIL THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION HAS BEEN COMPLETELY INSTALLED. 1. On the Install your camera software screen, select your Still Image model from the drop down list and click the Install button to install the PhoTags Express software. For more installation information click the Read Me First! button.
On the PhoTags Express" screen, click the Next button.
Please review the license terms and click the I Agree button to continue.
Let the PhoTags Express installer create the folder where the program will be installed to, and then click Install.
Please wait while the application is being installed on your computer.
Once the application has been installed on your computer, click the Finish button to let the PhoTags Express installer finish the installation program.
If you selected the option for the application to start after pressing the Finish button, the application will automatically launch.
If not, then in order to open the application you need to double click on the Photags Express icon on the desktop.
The Welcome to Photags Express Product Registration screen will open. This screen will appear each time you open the application until you register. To register your product please click the Register Online button and fill out the online registration form (This requires an internet connection). Note: In order to complete the installation process you are required to register. Registering your product entitles you to discounts on upgrades as well as Free Customer Support.
If you choose to register at a later time click the Continue button to open the Photags Express application.
Everything you need to get the most from your photos
The PhoTags Express software that is installed on your computer allows you to edit existing photos that you have on your computer as well as the photos that you have captured with your camera. 1. 2. 3. Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port of the camera. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer. Wait for your computer to recognize that new hardware has been installed and the ready to use message pops up on the task bar.
If the Camera is off it will automatically be turned on when the USB cable is properly connected.
If you have not already opened your application then click the PhoTags Express icon that appears on your desktop to open the PhoTags Express Software.
From the Main Menu screen that appears, select the Select Photos, Enhance Photos or Add Captions buttons. You can use these features to edit your photos:
Manage your photos by creating countless unique photo collections without duplicating any photos. Burn CDs of any folders for backup and storage. Enhance your photos; Auto Enhance, Crop, Correct Red Eye, Manually Adjust and add Special Effects. Add Active Captions- add Text Captions, Frames, Shapes, Keywords and more that can be viewed or hidden any time. Locate and Organize your photos and collections- Search by Captions, Category, Keyword or Date directly from the operating system of your computer. Share your photos via E-mail, Local Printing and Create HTML web pages for uploading online. Workshops feature allows you to Create Calendars, two-sided Greeting Cards and Postcards on standard photo paper. Create Photo Albums and Slide Shows on CDs that can be viewed on your PC and VCDs for viewing on
your TV using your DVD player. Add background music to your slideshow.

Transfer Photos and video images from your camera to your PC using PhoTags Express. Select the Get Photos button from the top of the PhoTags Express Main Menu screen. The Get Photos Wizard opens.
Select the device (removable disk) option in the Active Devices window on the left and then select either the Custom or Express copy radial button in the Copy methods box.
CUSTOM COPY METHOD Select the Custom copy radial button. Click the Next button. Add Active Captions to your pictures. You can add a date, keywords, categories and more. Click Next to continue.
Choose where to place your photos and videos. The default is to place all photos and videos into a folder under the C:\My Documents\ My Pictures folder with the date when the photos were taken as the folder name.
Click the Finish button to start the download process.
A photos download progress bar appears showing the number of media (videos included) downloading to your computer.
All the media Photos and Videos on your camera are now downloaded to your computer to the selected folder. Open the Select Photos mode of Photags Express to view the thumbnails for all the media. You may now use PhoTags Express to edit your photos, create collections and Burn CD`s. To learn more of how to get the most out of your PhoTags application select the Show Me How or the ? Help Guide button found on the top right of the screen.
EXPRESS COPY METHOD
Select the Express copy radial button if you want to have all the images transferred to the PC without the option to select which photos you want to transfer. In this mode you will not see a preview of the images transferred. For more information please refer to the Help Guide in PhoTags Express.
Viewing Videos
Make sure that your camera is connected to your computer with the USB cable. Open any application that will enable you to view video files (for example Windows Media Player).
Videos created and downloaded should be sitting in the C:\My Documents\My Pictures\{date} folder. Videos are saved in AVI format. Double click on a video with the avi extension.
The video will begin to play automatically. To replay the video, use the media controls. Once all the Photos and Videos have been downloaded to the computer it is recommended that you delete them from the camera thereby preparing your camera to take more photos and videos.
Transferring photos and videos to your PC manually
Turn on your camera, Change your Still Image mode to Playback and connect your camera to the computer correctly with USB cable, the screen will be shown a window (Removable Disk F:) as below:

Download photos directly from windows
Choose copy pictures to a folder on my computer on the Removable Disk (F:) window.
After you
click OK, step by step instructions will appear. Follow the description and click the buttons that are defaulted by the system to finish transferring. Alternatively you can: 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on the START button in Windows. Click on the MY COMPUTER Icon on the desktop. Your memory card will appear as a REMOVABLE STORAGE DEVICE. Click on the REMOVABLE STORAGE DEVICE to view the images. The images are stored in the subfolder called DCM100. 5. You can now copy and paste the images to any directory you choose.
Transferring photos and videos to your MAC manually
The Photags Express software is not compatible and will not install on a Mac. In order to transfer photos and videos from your camera to your computer:
Plug the camera into an available USB port A new drive should mount on the desktop which stores any photos or videos that have been taken.
Maintenance of Your Digital Camera
The digital camera is a delicate device. Please handle your camera with care to avoid damaging it.

Appendix B: Troubleshooting
Q: I have taken photos but my computer says, No photos in camera. What do I do? A: First ensure that you have in fact taken photos. Press the Shutter/OK button a few times to take some sample photos and then try downloading them again. If you still get a no photos error this may mean that your computer may not meet the minimum system requirements. System Requirements: At least a Pentium III 300Mhz, AMD Athlon 300Mhz or a Celeron 400MHz or higher as well as at least 128 MB ram. Please note that the older AMD K6 processors will not work. More information about determining your computers specifications can be found in the General Computer Information section. If you have determined that your computer meets the minimum system requirements and that you do have pictures in your camera, follow the steps below to reinstall the software. Software Re-installation 1. First install the software. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel and Add/Remove programs. There is one programs you will need to remove PhoTags Express. After removing, restart your computer. If your camera is connected, disconnect it. 2. Now reinstall the software. Insert the CD that came with your camera. It should automatically run the installation. 3. 4. 5. Restart the computer. Once your computer is back up, plug the camera into your computers USB port. Right-click on the My Computer icon. Select properties.
If you are running XP: click on hardware and then Device Manager. If the camera is installed correctly, there will be a category listed for Imaging Devices and clicking on the + next to it should reveal your camera. If not, you will likely see Digital Still Camera under Other Device with a brightly colored marking next to it indicating it is not functioning correctly. If you are running Windows XP: Right click on the non functioning device and select uninstall. If a warning pops up, press OK. 6. Restart your computer again. Your camera is now successfully installed.
Q: How do I make sure I don't lose important pictures? In order to use your camera properly you will need to insert a SD card of up to 8GB. All your images will be stored on this card. It is recommended to download the images from the card as often as possible, so as to free up space on the card. This also is a backup if your card gets lost or damaged. The test photos are saved in limited SDRAM, which requires a constant electric current to store your photos. Should your camera lose power (for instance if the battery dies or run out of power) the test pictures will be lost. We recommend always downloading your photos to your computer as soon as possible to prevent unintentional data loss.
