Installations needed for different control devices

Wacom tablet

1. Install the drivers for the tablet (we have different 2 models; the one without documentation is a Wacom Volito) 2. Download wintablet.zip (http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pd/) 3. Install the wintablet app for Pd. This includes the external wintablet.dll (in the extra folder) and the executable wintable.exe (in the bin folder)

Joystick

1. You dont need any special driver. 2. Dowload pd_joystick.zip (http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pd/) 3. Unzip and copy joystick.dll in the extra folder NB. Remember that if you also want to install some help Pd patch for any of them (e.g. dllname.dll), the Pd patch should be named dllname-help.pd and be copied to the docs/5.reference folder

P5 Glove

1. Download P5 dll (p5dll.dll) (it can be downloaded from different places) and copy it to the same folder where you will install the P5 MIDI app (see next step) 2. Download the P5MIDI program (http://www.nicolasfournel.com), and unzip it to the same directory where you have installed the previous dll. 3. You will also need a MIDI virtual driver such as MIDI Yoke or LoopBe installed, in order to send MIDI information from the P5 to Pd (see the document PdAudioVSTs.pdf for more info).

GlovePIE

GlovePIE.exe (http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie_download) is a very flexible application which can receive data from any joystick, the P5 glove or the Wii Remote, and send MIDI or OSC messages to any other application such as Pd. It has also a scripting language, which makes it very flexible (you can write any type of mapping), but also less simple than the previous solutions.

3 SIGNificant Client v3.0.0.3

3.1 New Features

Stepping through signature fields: With the sq command within a sigstring it is possible to create numbered signature fields. If a document needs to be signed in a special order the user can press the Start Stepping button and one singing dialogue after the other is shown. Limit signing to a specific user: Enhanced using of Stepping through signature fields is to limit the signing to specific users or sigfields with specific sq numbers. This enforces the user to sign only the fields he has to. There is no possibility to sign any other signature field. Attachment Support: Significant Client supports the functionality to attach files or additional pages to a pdf document. Therefore a new dialogue can be found by pressing the Add Attachment button.
Additional pdf documents, images and other files can also be attached via an attachment string in documents to print by giving the filename and the type how to attach the file (as page or as file). Example:
Inline Signing: Comfortable Inline Signing can now be activated via the global configuration. With Inline Signing the users view is not disturbed by a singing dialogue. The user is able to view the whole document during signing due to a small transparent signing feature.
Enhanced Integration Invoke Client via Command Line: Most of the new features (e.g. limit signing to specific user, attachments ) can also be called when calling SIGNificant Client via command line. This makes a lot of integration scenarios easier. Enhanced Licensing: The licensing of production licenses is reworked. This does not effect the user in any way. Existing licenses will be updated with the new licensing.
Signing Information: Next to the usual signature information it is possible to activate a Remarks field for additional information. Also custom fields can be created now via options menu.
Enforce Biometric Authentication: A signer can now be enforced to always use biometric authentication when a biometric server is reachable. This can be configured in the global configuration by the administrator. PDF/a: Signing layout Simple is now conforming to the PDF/A standard.
3.2 Fixed bugs since last version
Proxy Settings: Connections to servers (biometric, license or verification) which have to be reached via a proxy server with windows authentication are not supported. Use a created proxyuser with own password instead. Configured in _global.xml in section proxySettings. Adobe Life Cycle Documents (#1975): Filled in forms of an Adobe Life Cycle Document are not shown in SIGNificant Offline Client. Signatures No warning when opening a document with a xyzmo Seal (#2155): When opening and signing a document signed with a xyzmo Seal, no warning is shown. When signing such a document with an Adobe PDF signature, the xyzmo Seal signature is broken. This will be fixed in the next version.

Disorted signature on TabletPC(#2195): Signatures may look distorted when user signs on a tablet pc and moves the pen outside the signature control during the signing process. Terminal Server Printing does not work (#2215): The SIGNificant Offline Client PDF Printer does not work in Windows Terminal Server environments. This is fixed in the next release. Setup Request License (#2345): The Request License checkbox in the last step of the setup does not work. Workaround: Start the license request via the Start menu entry or during the first startup. Signing in Realsize STU-500 (#2326): When signing on the STU-500 LCD tablet using real size, the size is not correctly calculated. Slow Real Time Rendering STU-500 (#2447): In rare cases signature capturing with Wacom STU-500 is not shown in real time in the signing dialogue. Ord-Strings original file not deleted (#2468): Printing with ord-strings keep the original file in the destination directory. In integration scenarios the main application has to be aware that these files get deleted. Sealing Troubles when No Tablet is chosen (#2516): When No Tablet is chosen at the installation the Instant Seal button throws an error message. Workaround: Set the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-WonderNet-client-INPUTMETHOD to value 7. Aspect Ratio of Signature is incorrect with STU500(#2525): Signing with a Wacom STU500 tablet the aspect ratio is calculated correctly at the real time rendering but is applied in a height shrunk format in the document. Printer installation problems in Vista 64bit (#2533): In some cases it might happen that the printer is not shown in the machines environment. If so it is necessary to run the setup again. The printer should then be installed correctly. SigThickness invalid value (Bug#2511): invalid value filled in SigThickness SIGNificant Offline Client crash. Disable EnrollUser (Bug#2776): if value set to 1, enrolling was a enabled Signature fileds are located on the wrong position (Bug#2596): when a PDf uses rotation, sig string parsing returns a wrong value Cancelling stepping (Bug#2678): after cancelling stepping and start the signature dialog again, start with the next signature filed. Add field Button always activated (Bug# 2774): for read only files

3.3 Known Issues

License Update: Old license update does not work on machines where old license did not work. It does not work on Vista 32bit Home Basic and all Vista 64bit environments too. Old SigControl on 64bit (#1786): The previous version of the signature control cannot be run on 64bit operating systems. Therefore Wacom STU500 is the only supported tablet in such environments.

4.5 Availability

This version is available via the download section of the Partnerweb by February 18th.
4.6 Installation Instructions
Note For detailed installation instructions refer to the Administrator Guide available via the Partnerweb. Administrative rights are required for installation and first startup.
Demo License SIGNificant Offline Client is delivered with a 90 day demo license. After that period you have to obtain a production license.
5 SIGNificant Offline Client v2.1.0.4 5.1 New Features
Integration - ORD Strings: For integrations using the PDF printer, the Client now provides an ORD String (similar to the SIG string) which enables the application to define the filename of your printed PDF for use in further processing steps. Example: ord,fn=123456.pdf Result: The printed document will be named 123456.pdf Integration Document Status Report: To enable the customer application which calls the Client to check if all necessary signatures were applied the client now writes a documentStatusReport.xml on your demand. The report contains the number of signature fields, number of unsigned signature fields and details to every signature field. This is available in two ways: o Custom Button: the additional argument %DocStatusReport% provides you the full path to the XML. o Always write report: via setting the global config parameter <writeDocStatusReport> to 1, the XML report is written after loading the document, at every save and on close of the document. With this feature the customer application can determine the status of the document at any time. Integration Guide: Typical integration scenarios are described in the new SIGNificant Offline Client Integration Guide available for download in the Partnerweb together with the Offline Client. Tablet Wacom STU-500 Background Image: A background image is now shown on the STU-500. You can use your custom image via replacing the file c:\layout.bmp (640x480 pixel, black & white):

Signatures - Rotating Signatures: The captured signature can now be rotated via a button in the signature dialog. This is necessary in scenarios where the signing parties are sitting across from each other and the signing tablet itself cannot be rotated.
Signatures Signature Thickness and Color: The thickness and color of the drawn signature graphics can now be adopted via the parameter <SigThickness> and <Sigcolor> in the config file signatureLayouts.xml. Use this to adopt the look and feel of your signatures, especially when using an inking pen with one of the tablets. Signatures - Real Size: The signatures can now be sized in their real physical size. Therefore the client provides a tablet.xml configuration which provides calibration info for the supported tablet devices: Wacom STU-500, Volito, Pen Partner 2. Notes: o Enable this via the user menu options by selecting the Signature Layout SignatureOverlayRealSize
or directly via the parameter <sealLayout> in the config file signatureLayouts.xml. Enable the use of a certain tablet configuration via the parameter <tabletConfig> in the global configuration. The real physical position on the tablet is not considered.
Signature Fields Configurable Default Size: The default size of the signature fields can now be configured via the parameters <sigWidth> and <sigHeight> in the config file signatureLayouts.xml. The value can either be defined in millimeters or inch (parameter <positionUnits>). Signature Fields Empty Signer Name: When creating signature fields without a given signer name (=uid), the name can now be entered during the signing process. This enables you to use sig-strings for defining signature field positions where you dont know the signers name in advance. Example: sig => results in a signature field where you still can enter the signers name. User Interface - Startup: The demo license message during the first startup can now be disabled by the administrator in the global configuration via setting the parameter <DisableDemoLicenseMessage> to 1.
User Interface Welcome Message: A Welcome message is now shown during the first startup. This replaces the previous Demo License Warning.
User Interface - Disable entering of Reason and Location: The entering of reason and location can now be deactivated via the config file parameters <useReason> and <useLocation> in the file signatureLayouts.xml. The signature dialog will the look like this:
User Interface Free Description is now shown in all signing dialogs: The free description (fd) of a signature field is now shown in all signing dialogs. This enables you to show a dedicated message to the signer; e.g. Please sign here to confirm the general conditions and terms.

User Interface Dedicated POS Signature Dialog: This dialog is optimized for POS usage reason, location and method are hidden, the sign method is set to Sign and the signing process is immediately active (no need to click on sign within the dialog.
User Interface - Hide Top Panel, Menu and Design Panel: The top panel (containing the large instant sign/seal buttons), the menu (Menu link and xyzmo logo) and the design panel (tree view of the signatures on the left side) can now be hidden via the global config parameters < hideTopPanel >, <hideMenu> and <hideDesignPanel>.
5.2 Fixed bugs since last version
Filenames with special characters (#2138): Filenames containing special characters are now supported. User Interface Resize Window (#2129): When resizing the window, the buttons on the bottom (previous/next page, zoom) are now correctly displayed. Printer Crashes (#2141): Redmonnt.dll crashed the Windows spooler on some systems. This is now fixed. Printer Problem (#2123): Printing failed on some Windows XP system (the client does not open after printing). Signature Scaling (#2171): The signature is now better scaled to the height of the signature field. Demo License (#2096): When using the included demo license the Administrator had to start the Client once to enable writing a key to the registry. This is now fixed. Verification Display Name (#2112): The display name of the signer (the name which is entered and not taken from a certificate) is now shown in the verification report. Document Status Report Log: A log entry is now written when a Document Status Report XML is written.

5.3 Known Issues

ORD Strings are not deleted: ORD strings are not deleted from the document. Workaround: Use the same color as the background to make it invisible. SIG strings are sometimes not deleted (#2133, 2084): sig-strings written in another font than Arial or containing special characters are not deleted from the document. Workaround: Use the same color as the background to make it invisible. Disable SIG/ORD string parsing (#2132): Sig-string and Ord-String parsing cannot be disabled separately. Disable both to disable parsing for Sig and Ord-strings. Tablet Wacom STU-500 LCD clearing (#2153): The clearing of the tablet is automatically done after a signature. This will be changed in future version to have the user click OK for confirmation. Tablet Wacom STU-500 instabilities (#2160): The STU-500 integration together with the background picture causes crashes on some machines. Workaround: remove the layout.bmp on these machines. Sealing with Certificate does not work (#2180): The user selected certificate is ignored and the client always signs with the default certificate. Windows 64bit (#1786): 64bit operating systems are not supported yet. Sealing will cause the error message "Signing of the document failed for non cryptographic reason". Signatures No warning when opening a document with a xyzmo Seal (#2155): When opening and signing a document signed with a xyzmo Seal, no warning is shown. When signing such a document with an Adobe PDF signature, the xyzmo Seal signature is broken. This will be fixed in the next version.
