Slim built-in Combo Drive
Slim enough to fit within the compact dimensions of the VAIO V505, the versatile Combo Drive lets you watch DVDs, read CDs (24x), write CD-R discs (8x) and write CD-RW discs (4x) wherever you go without using a dock. Extremely reliable and efficient, the Combo Drive also features Buffer Under-run Error protection that helps ensure fast, error-free CD recording every time.

User-friendly controls

The keyboard is designed for serious typing. Its two-tone colour scheme simplifies recognition of individual keys, and all keys are slightly curved to ergonomically fit your fingertips. Flush surfaced and refined, without beveled edges, the newly designed touch pad also contributes to streamlined operation. Both click buttons are curved and the right click button is ribbed for easy tactile recognition.

Long-lasting batteries

Up to 5 continuous hours of operation are supplied by the standard (48.84Wh) battery a nearly 30% improvement in capacity. Using Sonys SonicStage software, you can also transfer recorded music to a MagicGate Memory Stick for playback on a Memory Stick Walkman* or CLI handheld*. MagicGate technology is copyright protected and makes the process smooth and speedy.

When using VAIO V505 at your office or home, the optional Port Replicator lets you quickly connect with peripherals. Simply attach VAIO V505 to connect, or detach it to go mobile. The new user-friendly design maintains a low keyboard angle for easy typing. Expanded connections include a DVI-D port for crystal-clear output to digital monitors, 3 USB 2.0 ports (making a total of 5) and VGA out, LAN, Printer, and DC-IN terminals.

COMMUNICATION Network Smart Capture
Sonys original Network Smart Capture is a handy tool for visual communication. It allows you to capture still and moving images from a Digital Handycam connected via i.LINK cable or optional Visual Communication Camera (PEGA-UVC10). From there, your images can be easily attached to e-mail. Network Smart Capture also features Fixed Point Observation mode, which enables you to take images automatically at intervals with a Web camera. The images can be uploaded in real time to your own Web site.

MOVIES DVgate

Connect a Sony Digital Handycam to your VAIO via i.LINK and DVgate software provides an editing suite of three easy to use creative tools. DVgate Motion controls the attached DV device for two-way image transfer. DVgate Assemble finds the in/out points of each shot, lets you snip off the parts you dont need, and edit (assemble) them into a desired sequence. DVgate Still captures still images from a DV camera and even automatically extracts a sequence of stills from a video clip.

Sonys original PictureGear Studio is a comprehensive image file management, viewing, editing and printing program. You can import digital images from various sources. MUSIC SonicStage

Personalise your music with Sony's original music software. Download music easily from the Internet, and record/store music freely on your HD for play like a jukebox. When you want music to go, just "check out" tracks onto a Memory Stick for a portable audio device. The Net MD standard support rapid data transfer to MiniDisks. Also create original CDs, and even make MP3 CDs by collecting MP3 files registered as a play list to record approximately 15 hours of music in a single CD-R disc.
