The Sony CMT-U1BT is usable with other mp3s other than Sony. I use even with flash discs. Bluetooth very clear, almost CD quality.

Store a music collection on 1 device. Small and low standby power. Navigation is not good. Stores a lot of music in one place.

This manual explains the basic connections and operations that will allow you to enjoy music on your GIGA JUKE. For a fuller explanation of the various operations, refer to the supplied Operating Instructions.

Connections

UK model only

Connect the speaker cords to the speakers.
Insert the cords into the speaker terminals on the speakers. Pull on the cord lightly afterwards to confirm that the cords are firmly connected.

Black Red

Connect the speakers to the unit.
Connect the cords to the SPEAKER terminals on the unit. After connecting the speaker cords and while facing the front of the unit, place the speaker connected to the R terminal to the right and the speaker connected to the L terminal to the left.

Make sure the metal leads (not the part covered with vinyl insulation) are securely inserted into the speaker terminals.
Make sure to keep the speaker cords away from the antennas as they may produce noise in the radio reception.
Connect the AM loop antenna.
Connect the AM loop antenna to the AM antenna terminals on the unit. Pull on the cord lightly afterwards to confirm that the antenna is firmly connected.
Connect the DAB wire antenna (UK model only).
With a DAB external antenna, you can obtain a higher DAB broadcast sound quality. We recommend that you use the supplied DAB wire antenna only temporarily until you install a DAB external antenna. Connect the supplied DAB wire antenna to the DAB jack on the unit.

Make sure to keep the AM loop antenna away from the unit or other AV equipment as this may produce noise in the radio reception. Make sure the metal leads (not the part covered with vinyl insulation) are securely inserted into the antenna terminals.
Connect the FM wire antenna.
Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM antenna jack on the unit.

To install the DAB external antenna (optional), 75 coaxial cable with F male type connector (optional) will be needed.
Connect the unit to a network.
If you have a network environment, you can easily connect the unit to the Internet as shown in the figure below. Disconnect the network cable from your computer.
Make sure not to wind the FM wire antenna up during use. After connecting the FM wire antenna, lay it out so that it is as parallel to the floor as possible.
Connect the network cable to the unit.

This method of accessing the Internet may not be possible for some Internet service provider. While the network cable is connected to the unit as described above, you will not be able to access the Internet on the computer. If you want to connect to the Internet from the unit and the computer at the same time, you must use a separate network cable to connect the computer to the network. For details on connections, refer to the page 85 of the Operating Instructions or the customer support site of Sony Europe, http:// support.sony-europe.com/ (for the customers in Europe only).

Connect the power cord to a wall outlet after all other connections have been made. The unit turns on automatically and starts making the initial settings. Wait until the unit turns off again. The initial settings may take a few minutes depending on the units condition.

WARNING

Do not disconnect the power cord while the initial setup is in progress. Doing so may cause the unit to malfunction.
Inserting the batteries into the remote control
Insert two size-AA (R6) batteries (supplied) into the remote control with the and terminals matching the polarity markings. When the remote control is no longer able to operate the unit, replace both batteries with new ones.

Press CD.

The disc tray slides out.
Place an audio CD into the disc tray.
Load a CD with the label side up.
The disc tray closes and playback starts. When an audio CD is loaded, the unit automatically starts searching for title information within its database or over the Web (when connected to the Internet).

To stop playback

Press FM/AM.
Press the button repeatedly to select FM or AM.
Press TUNING + or TUNING on the remote control to tune in a station.

Press DAB.

DAB Auto Scan starts automatically. When scanning is completed, the DAB service that was first received starts.

Press CD and place an audio CD into the disc tray.
The unit automatically starts searching for title information within its database or over the Web (when connected to the Internet).
Press CD and start playback.

Press HDD REC.

The unit starts recording from the first track and adds title information to the recorded tracks.

Press FUNCTION to display the Function menu.

Press /// to select [HDD JUKEBOX].

Press ENTER.

Connect the USB storage device to the USB connecting jack of the unit.
Refer to the operation manual of the USB storage device as well.

Press // to select [Import] [USB storage] and press ENTER.

If the drive selection display appears, select the drive.
If the connected USB storage device has only one drive, the drive selection display does not appear.
Press / to select the album you want to import and press ENTER.
The selected album is checked. You can remove a check mark by pressing ENTER again.

Press / to select [Import] and press ENTER.

To cancel importing

Press ENTER. Notes
You can import a maximum of 10,000 tracks at a time. If two USB storage devices are connected to both jacks (front and rear) at the same time, the device connected to the front jack takes priority.
To record from an external component
Refer to page 35 of the supplied Operating Instructions for details on connections and operations.
Listening ~ Playing tracks in the HDD Jukebox ~ 1

Press HDD.

The unit starts playing the audio data in the HDD Jukebox.

To stop playback Press.

Playing audio data by album, artist, genre, etc.

In addition to album mode, artist mode and genre mode, the unit has the following listing modes.
Listing mode Album Artist Genre Recording source Folder Playlist Description Plays tracks of the selected album. Plays tracks of the selected artist. Plays tracks of a selected genre, such as classics or jazz. Plays tracks recorded from a selected recording source, such as a CD or the radio. Plays tracks in a selected folder, such as My library or a newly created folder. Plays a selected playlist of your favorite tracks.
Press repeatedly until Mode directory (a list of listing modes) appears.
Press / to select the listing mode.
Press ENTER to enter the listing mode.
E.g., When you select the album mode
Press // to select the desired album or track.
The unit starts playing in the selected listing mode.
Transferring ~ Transferring tracks to a WALKMAN ~
With the procedure below, you may not be able to transfer tracks in the case of some WALKMAN models. In this case, select USB storage device as the transfer destination. Refer to page 51 of the Operating Instructions for details. Refer to http://support.sony-europe.com/ (for the customers in Europe only) for the compatible WALKMAN models.
Connect the WALKMAN to the USB connecting jack of the unit.
Make sure that the unit is in the HDD JUKEBOX function.

Press TRANSFER.

Up to 30 of the most recently recorded or imported groups (albums) are automatically selected.

TRANSFER

The selected groups are transferred to the WALKMAN.
When transferring audio data the next time
Groups that were recorded or imported to the HDD Jukebox following the last transfer are selected (except for the groups that had been previously transferred).
To transfer audio data to other devices
You can transfer tracks to another device by assigning the device to the TRANSFER button or selecting it as the destination from the menu. Refer to page 49 of the Operating Instructions for details.

Using the Internet

O Obtaining title information
Through an Internet connection, you can obtain title information to albums that were not labeled when you recorded or imported them.
Albums saved to the HDD Jukebox can be automatically labeled.

stored in the HDD Jukebox ~
This section explains how title information (album name, artist name, etc.) is obtained for albums in the HDD Jukebox.
Select the album whose information you are looking for. Press OPTIONS to display the Option menu.
Press // / to select [Obtain title info] [Album] and press ENTER.
The search starts. When the search is completed, the results are displayed. The search results may include multiple matches for an album.

Press ENTER to obtain title information.
To obtain title information to an individual track or multiple tracks
You can obtain title information to an individual track or to multiple tracks in a single operation. Refer to page 56 of the Operating Instructions for details.

Troubleshooting

If a problem occurs while operating the unit, follow the steps described below before consulting the nearest Sony dealer. If an error message appears, it is recommended that you make a note of its contents for reference.
Step 1: Check the supplied Operating Instructions.
Check the Troubleshooting section in the supplied Operating Instructions to see if the problem is listed.
Step 2: Check the customer support site.

Step 3: If after steps 1 and 2 you still cannot solve the problem
