NAVIGON 6350 Live and NAVIGON 6310: Always up to date with the latest high-end navigation products
NAVIGON has some new products up its sleeve for the high-end section at IFA this year, including the NAVIGON 6350 Live complete with impressive new NAVIGON Live Services. The NAVIGON Live module provides real-time information on the current traffic conditions, nearby available parking spaces and special points of interest via Google Local Search. In addition, there is also the new Professional Voice Command 2.0 system and a whole range of 3D features. The NAVIGON 6310 is ideal for those who can get by without NAVIGON Live but still want to take advantage of the other convenient features.
Hamburg, 3 September 2009 Until now, TMC Pro gave drivers the very latest traffic updates, whilst navigation devices with NAVIGON Clever Parking gave drivers details of parking facilities near their destination, directing them there on request. Now, NAVIGON Service Traffic Live provides real-time information about the current traffic conditions on the route. Moreover, thanks to NAVIGON Clever Parking Live, you can find out in real time how many parking spaces are currently available. These are just two examples of the many extra benefits that the new NAVIGON Live Services1 offer drivers. NAVIGON Live Services are available free of charge for three months. On signing a one-year contract, access to this real-time information is charged at a flat-rate of EUR 79.95, or EUR 139.95 with a two-year contract. Those who decide to take out a one- or two-year contract within 30 days of activating the Live Services will receive a 25 per cent discount. All NAVIGON Live modules are equipped with SIM cards from NAVIGONS strategic partner TMobile, this exempts users from avoid paying roaming charges or incurring any other costs whilst using the Live-services.

Maximum comfort and safety The NAVIGON 6350 Live and NAVIGON 6310 models are even better equipped than the previous premium devices. The new 63-series has the improved voice-command feature Professional Voice Command 2.0, which allows clear and concise communication with the device. Entries and commands can be phrased informally and not just by stating and activating special destinations. The NAVIGON 6350 Live and the NAVIGON 6310 are also impressive 3D guides: thanks to the package comprising the new and improved Panorama View3D, Landmark View3D and City View3D, landscapes, sights and city buildings are all displayed in three-dimensional, realistic images. With its 4.3", 16:9 format display, chrome edging around the glossy black casing as well as its designer mount, the 63-series has an elegant appearance. The new premium devices also include all the useful and safety-related NAVIGON features such as NAVIGON MyRoutes, NAVIGON Clever Parking, TMC Routing Info, Spoken TMC, POI Click and Real Road Sign Pro. Our new high-end models contain all the quality navigation features that frequent drivers expect from a NAVIGON device, says Jrn Watzke. Considering their range of features, the models of the 63-series are attractively priced. The NAVIGON 6350 Live costs EUR 349, including the NAVIGON Live module. The NAVIGON 6310 is available from just EUR 299, and is significantly less expensive than its predecessors in the high-end range. The Live module2 can be retrofitted to this device for EUR 99. The NAVIGON 6310 is available in shops from mid September; the NAVIGON 6350 Live is available from October 2009.

NAVIGON gives truckers clever assistants to help them: new special software guides lorries and motorhomes safely to their destination
With this new navigation solution, truckers and motorhome drivers can personalise their routes in over 20 European countries1, enabling them to avoid small villages and traffic obstructions from the outset. Hamburg, 5 November 2009 Goods traffic on the roads is continually increasing. In Germany alone, the Federal Ministry for Transport anticipates an increase of around 79 per cent by 20252. Increasing traffic density will also make it more and more challenging for lorry drivers to reach their destination in a reasonable amount of time. But truckers under pressure to meet deadlines are already repeatedly finding themselves manoeuvring in situations that take their toll both on their time and their nerves. NAVIGON is therefore providing lorry drivers with an assistant this year: special lorry navigation software for the new high-end and premium devices in the NAVIGON 6310 and NAVIGON 8410 will help them to avoid obstacles and bridges with a low height clearance. Personal profile for the ideal truck and caravan route To find their ideal route, the trucker or caravan driver sets up their personal profile before commencing their journey. To do this, they enter a total of seven different pieces of information into their navigation device. First, they enter the height, width and maximum axle load of their vehicle and vital information on whether the truck is carrying hazardous goods, which can mean that they are not allowed to travel on certain routes. They also enter the vehicle length, specifying whether it is towing a trailer and, if it is, the length of this trailer. They also enter details on the gross weight of the lorry and trailer. This information primarily comes into play if vehicles of a certain weight are not permitted to travel on certain routes. The software works out the ideal route based on all the information. From the outset it avoids roads that the vehicle cannot or is not permitted to travel on, such as narrow side streets or bridges with a low load allowance or low height clearance. finds an optimal, personalised route and guides drivers of larger vehicles via bypasses or suitable bridges. POIs for truckers As well as purely providing route information, the software also notifies truckers of over 24,000 points of interest3. This includes special information on petrol stations that are open 24 hrs, sanitary facilities and where to do a quick shop. Information on the location of petrol stations that supply special fuel such as HGV diesel, biodiesel mix, additives and HGV pumps (with hydraulically controlled valves) are very important for lorry drivers. The POI list even includes truck washes. Information on the clearance height at a rest stop with undercover filling pump areas or whether there is a pump offering cash-free payment by credit card is also of interest to both motorhome and lorry drivers. As you can imagine, collecting this kind of data is a very complex process, says Jrn Watzke, Executive Vice President of Product Line Management at NAVIGON. The quality of this data is now at such a level as to fulfil our launch standards. However, we are continuing to pull out all the stops to improve and expand these data sets. Software with feedback function Drivers themselves can also optimise their navigation further. The new software includes the NAVIGON MyReport feature. If, whilst on the road, anyone finds an error on a map; new or altered prohibitions, road signs or crossing regulations for trucks; a new route where vehicles transporting hazardous goods are not permitted; changes to maximum height or width clearances; or new regulations regarding the maximum weight for trucks on certain routes, they can enter all this information directly into their device and report it via the NAVIGON Fresh service portal. With this option, we are emphasising the drivers role as a feedback provider, which is crucial to us, stresses Watzke. Professional drivers in particular have a good eye for road traffic. This way, they can play an active role in continually improving the software data for both themselves and their colleagues. The lorry software will be available to download in December for the two new NAVIGON 6310 and 8410 devices from the NAVIGON Online Shop and retail market for 129 euros.
