Sony Clie MagicGate Model PEG-UX50 Battery Replacement Instructions
1. Remove 4 screws on back housing (a). If you do not have access to a 5-prong screwdriver, use a flathead precision screwdriver* carefully. You will also need to remove the screw beside the hinge (b). 2. Gently pry off back housing. Speaker wire will still be attached. It is not necessary to unplug speaker wire to replace the battery.
3. Lift battery out using black pull tab. Battery will be stuck down with double-sided tape. 4. Unplug battery cable.
To reassemble, follow instructions in reverse order. *Precision screwdrivers are often sold in sets as jewelry or eyeglass repair tools.

The Sony Clie PEG-UX50 has a separate tilt screen mechanism that does not require the user to dismantle the battery plate in order to get to the display.

Step 1 - Removing the tilt screen
Take off the screws located on the 2 sides of the tilt screen. Unscrew the screw located at the tilt base of the screen

Gently remove back plate of tilt screen by sliding upward. With caution, lift wires from the track in the back plate

Disconnect the thin bus cable attached to the Integrated Circuit

Step 4

Detach the plastic black frame from in between the plate and lcd. Do not disconnect the display from the board yet.

Disconnect the thin connector from the face plate using the tweezer

Step 6

With your hands, quick-release and disconnect the thick cable
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
