An electrostatic type of transducer in which a transparent polymer film less than 2 microns thick is driven by the power of static electricity. Astounding quality obtained by an incredibly light diaphragm almost as light as air. As the world's only manufacturer of electrostatic ear speakers, STAX has pursued the ideal of quality for many years. Electrostatic speakers require dedicated driver units different from speakers of the dynamic type, and STAX has built up a store of unique electronic technology that has resulted in many achievements such as the release of Japan's first ever DC amplifiers. Increasingly wide ranges capable of responding to new-generation media such as SACD and DVD-Audio are being called for in many different fields. SRM-252II is a new product that responds to this demand while at the same time raising the quality of each of the individual parts. Also, the reproduction frequency band has been increased to 35,000Hz. The body is made from a plentiful quantity of extruded aluminum, which equips it with strength and resilience. Parallel out terminals have been newly incorporated for greater ease of use. It's now possible to connect the input directly to a power amplifier or other device. The electrostatic transducer is in principle balance-driven, but all models of ear-speaker make it possible to enjoy original sound quality based on the balance method which is generally adopted for use with topend audio equipment. Basic System II (SR-202 Basic + SRM-212)
The SR series Earspeaker is the fruit of the most up-to-date technology and 40-year's experience of STAX that first developed and manufactured the electrostatic headphone, that is the first "Earspeaker", in the world. Differently from ordinary headphones, this Earspeaker is equipped with neither magnet nor coil, but utilizes electrostatic force to generate sophisticated sound. In detail, the core of an Earspeaker is composed of a thin diaphragm (oscillatory film) to which a DC voltage of 580V is supplied. When audio signal is supplied to the electrodes, electrostatic force generates and drives the diaphragm to reproduce the sound. Thanks to this operation principle, the Earspeaker reproduces sound very naturally and delicately in all nuances.
