Laser Troubleshooting Tips
A step-by-step guide to solving common laser printing problems
Sometimes, simple machine maintenance tips can help correct a print problem that may be interpreted as cartridge problems in error. To save you time, here are a few of the most common printer problems and the solution to them. If one of these maintenance tips does not solve your printer problem, move to step2 listed below.
Extended cartridge print life*
When LOW TONER message is displayed, remove the cartridge from the printer and gently rock it from side to side several times to redistribute the toner. Reinstall the cartridge to continue printing. Note: Never turn the cartridge upside down.
Print density adjustments*
You can select the lightness or darkness of a print by using the print density adjustment. Lighter print density setting will yield a greater number of printed pages. High print density settings will yield a lower number of printed pages. For selecting the print density, see the printers manual.

To ensure good print *

Each time you install a newly purchased toner cartridge, you should use the printer-generated cleaning paper to clean the internal parts of the printer. Follow the steps below to generate and use a page of cleaning paper to clean the inside of your printer. 1. Press the Menu key untilPRINT QUALITY MENU appears. 2. Press the Item key until CREATE CLEANING PAGE appears. 3. Press the Select key to create the cleaning page. 4. Follow the instructions printed on the cleaning page to complete the cleaning process.
Note: In order for the cleaning page to work properly, print on copier grade paper (not bond or rough paper). *All printers will vary. Please see your manual for further instructions.

We are just a phone call away! If we are not able to correct the problem over the phone, we will send you a replacement cartridge. If your problem resulted in a service call, you will be requested to return the cartridge and/or copy of the receipt for the cartridge. You will also need to submit a copy of the repair invoice signed by the certied technician stating the cause of damage was the result of the cartridge. Once returned, we will quickly review and process your claim.

Inkjet Troubleshooting Tips
Some ink jet users may experience a few minor problems when inserting a new cartridge. These issues are usually solved with ease.
Cartridge recognition Unplug printer and wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in to reset printer. Printers sometimes need to be reset once a new cartridge is inserted. Remove all cartridges and conrm that the correct cartridge has been inserted. Never force a cartridge into your printer if it does not t. Reinsert cartridges in the correct locations and reset printer (above). Remove all cartridges and inspect cartridges for damage to the electrical contacts. If necessary, gently clean the electrical contacts with a coffee lter or clean dry cloth to enhance communication with the printer. Reinsert the cartridges and reset the printer (above). Print Quality Refer to your printers User Guide to perform the cartridge cleaning procedure (usually located in the printer driver). All cartridges have the tendency for ink to dry on the nozzles and this is the cleaning procedure recommended by the printers manufacturer. Remove the cartridges and gently clean the nozzles by holding the cartridge (nozzle down) on a lint-free cloth moistened with bottled and distilled water. As the last resort, use a water moistened paper towel. Remove any dried link on the surface of the print head or nozzles. Reinsert the cartridges and reset the printer (above).
