FABRIC: Woven Medium chino, Stretch Light tricot, and Woven Heavy denim SELECT: Center needle straight stitch USE: General Purpose Presser Foot SEW: Fold all fabrics in half, right sides together. Lining up fold with 5/8 seam guide on stitch plate, sew each fabric, one right after the other.

PERFECT REPEATING BUTTONHOLES

SHOW: Buttonhole Sample

FABRIC: Woven Medium chino and stabilizer SELECT: Buttonhole stitch; Stitch Length on Buttonhole; and Stitch Width at the widest setting. USE: Buttonhole Foot SEW: Fold fabric in half with a piece of stabilizer between the layers. Slide the buttonhole foot to the back. Place the button in the adjustable measuring guide on the back of the foot. Push the button holder back against the button to hold it tight. Position the fabric under the presser foot. Lower the buttonhole lever, and push it away from you. Hold the end of the upper thread and start sewing. The front bartack will sew first, then the right side, the back bartack, and

PERFECT FABRIC FEEDING

The special feeding system is shown in the kite-tail demonstration.
The specially designed feed dogs ensure that the fabric is picked up and supported from the front of the presser foot to the rear. This makes for much more accurate feeding. Sew the seam and overcast the edges at the same time. The Overedge stitch prevents raveling of the seam allowance on a woven fabric and creates a seam that will stretch on knit fabrics.
SERGING / OVERCAST STITCHES
FABRIC: Stretch Medium sweatshirt fleece and ribbing SELECT: Overedge (shell) stitch; Stitch Width: wide; Stitch Length: 1-2. USE: General Purpose Presser Foot SEW: Cut a small neckline in a piece of sweatshirt fleece (fold in half and cut a small curve). Fold ribbing in half lengthwise, and stretch to fit curve of fabric. Sew near fabric edge creating a neckline. SHOW: The Singer Inspiration 4210 and 4212 both have more stretch stitches.

EASY BLIND HEM

FABRIC: Woven Medium wool SELECT: Blind Hem stitch; Stitch Length: 1.5 2.5, and Stitch Width: wide. USE: Blind Hem Foot SEW: Fold up a hem in fabric. Sew the hem with the fold riding along the guide of the foot, just catching the fold with the left swing of the needle as you stitch. Adjust the width on the stitch width dial as needed to catch just a thread from the fold.
You can "fine tune" the blind hem by adjusting the stitch width of the blind hem for different types of fabric.
MULTIPLE NEEDLE POSITIONS
