THE SOUND OF MAGIC What is the magic that makes one amplier sound so much better than another? It all comes down to the experience of the design team and designing the amplier for its intended use; no more, no less. An amplier with Dynamic Headroom sounds open, effortless and smooth. The machine magically disappears and the music emerges recreating the atmosphere of the original musical performance. An amplier with high Peak Current Capability has the rhythmic punch that gets your toe tapping and your heart pounding. It recreates the soul of the music. If an amplier cannot produce enough current to cope with a real loudspeaker the sound becomes thin and at lacking the third dimension of live music. THE SCIENCE OF MAGIC NAD has developed several patented amplier innovations under the direction of Bjorn Erik Edvardsen (aka BEE). PowerDrive technology adds huge reserves of Dynamic Headroom without adding cost by ingeniously matching the amplier to the speaker load. This is fully automatic in operation and adjusts the power supply parameters of the amplier to best cope with the actual musical signal and specic speaker loading characteristics. Soft Clipping eliminates the harsh sound that occurs when an amplier is overdriven. This feature also protects sensitive loudspeaker tweeters that can be easily damaged by the high frequency distortion caused by clipping (clipping describes the distorted shape of a musical sine wave when an amplier is driven beyond its power rating). BEE Clamp is a new answer to an old problem endemic to all transistor amplier designs. When the output transistors produce heat faster than it can be dissipated, the amplier becomes momentarily unstable. This happens when the music has rich high frequency
THE PEDIGREE OF PERFORMANCE The C325BEE is the latest in a long and distinguished lineage of ampliers from NAD. This pedigree assures you of an amplier that is technically outstanding and yet affordably priced. HISTORICALLY SPEAKING The C325BEE traces its lineage all the way back to the NAD 3020 which was introduced some 30 years ago. The 3020 was a revelation at the time, setting a technical standard that astonishingly few amps, regardless of price, could even match, much less better. Like all great inventions, the premise of the 3020 seems obvious in retrospect. Make an amplier that is optimised for musical signals (not just laboratory test tones) and able to cope with the complex requirements of real loudspeakers (not just laboratory loading resistors). This led to NADs redenition of how an amplier should be designed and exactly how much it needed to cost to exceed
content and the speaker has low or difcult impedance. The BEE Clamp employs sophisticated real time monitoring of the output transistors load and drive and clamps the base drive to prevent saturation when necessary, thus improving amplier stability and waveform delity. The C325BEE can instantly recover from overload, reducing both the amount and the duration of distortion, regardless of load impedance. NAD has a deeper understanding of the nature of musical sounds and has devised innovative circuits that overcome the limitations of semiconductors, capacitors, and the other electronic components that make up an amplier. This innovation has resulted in a product that truly excels in the reproduction of music. New DC Servo eliminates sound colouring capacitors in the signal path. This improves musical detail and eliminates harmful loudspeaker offset. 10 July 2006 NAD, a world leader in audio-video product development, has origins that go back over 30 years to when the company first announced the 3020 amplifier. An integrated amplifier design that sets a new standard that few amplifiers, regardless of price, could ever match. Now the company announces the latest in a long and distinguished lineage, the C325BEE, 50-watt per channel integrated amplifier.
The NAD 3020 Series has continued to win almost every HiFi industry award over the last 30 years, and improving upon this benchmark has been an ongoing task. Now state-of-the-art improvements have resulted in an amplifier that produces even lower distortion, less noise and more detailed rendition than any of its predecessors.
Although it may be obvious in retrospect, NADs engineering philosophy has been to make an amplifier that is optimised for musical signals (not just laboratory test tones) and is able to cope with the complex requirements of real loudspeakers. This led NAD to redefine how an amplifier should be designed and how much it needed to cost to exceed the expectations of music lovers. The C325BEE is an embodiment of that philosophy.
Utilising new technology developed in its top of the range Masters Series components, the C325BEE is the creation of head designer Bjorn Erik Edvardsen. It offers many advanced features, including the latest adaptation of the companys Power Drive
2 Technology, a technology that affords huge reserves of Dynamic Headroom by ingeniously matching the amplifier to the speaker load.
This fully automatic operation adjusts power supply parameters of the amplifier to best cope with the actual musical signal and specific speaker loading characteristics. The end result is an open, effortless and smooth musical presentation that allows the music to emerge, recreating the atmosphere of the original musical performance. NAD also features their renowned soft clipping technology that eliminates the harsh sound that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven, similar to the sound of valve amplifiers.
NAD feature their BEE Clamp circuitry that addresses an old problem endemic to all transistor amplifier designs: when output transistors produce heat faster than it can be dissipated, the amplifier becomes momentarily unstable. This happens when the music is rich in high frequency content and the speaker has low or difficult impedance. The BEE Clamp circuitry employs real time monitoring of the output transistors load and clamps the base to prevent saturation where necessary. The end result is that the C325BEE can instantly recover from any overload condition and can reduce both the amount and duration of distortion.
NAD have a deep understanding of the nature of music sounds and consequently combine the best of practical engineering to extract the best musicality from their circuit designs. They extend this philosophy down to component level, whereby innovative circuit design overcomes the limitations of semiconductors, capacitors and other electronic components that make up the amplifier. DC Servo technology also
3 eliminates sound colouring capacitors in the signal path and apart from improving musical detail, it also eliminates harmful loudspeaker off-set.
Boasting 05-watts per channel, the NAD C325BEE offers inputs for: tuner, CD, cassette deck and other line input A/V components. It also features MP input for iPod, MP3 and other media players employing 3.5mm headphone sockets.
