Sony's PS2 Is the Undisputed Winner, Again
A console that has lasted for more than 6 years and still beats the crap out of its rivals
It shouldn't come to you as a surprise that neither the Xbox 360 nor the Wii make better gaming consoles than Sony's PS2. Even after more than six years of usage, the world still loves it, keeping it way above any other system out there. So everyone can better understand the reasons why the PS2 is still holding tight to its title, Wired's Chris Baker posted an article about this over at Slate. Here's a piece of it:"Luckily for Sony, their old console is so popular - more than 100 million have been sold worldwide - that they can offset some of the money they're hemorrhaging with the PS3. By continuing to manufacture and support the PS2, Sony is keeping its old customers happy and offering a cheaper alternative for people who can't afford a next-generation machine. Sony did the same thing last time around and managed to sell more than 20 million of the original PSone consoles between 2000 and 2004 - after the appearance of the PlayStation 2."The question is if Sony's PS2 hadn't launched in 2000, the PSone could have easily had the same success the PS2 is having at the moment, if not even greater success. When it was released, the PSone had no "natural" enemies. The story is a little different now that consoles have something great to offer. Whether it is Nintendo's motion-sensitive controller or Microsoft's stunning visuals, all big companies have something to show off. But Sony's second-generation console is still on top. Does anyone have any doubt that it's a total winner?
