PhotoStitch: Creating Panoramas and QuickTime 360 Views
Log onto the computer with the Canon PhotoStitch software. Map to your franklin drive so you may save your merged images there Click Start > Programs > Canon Utilities > PhotoStitch. Fig. 1

Fig. 2

Click on the Merge Images icon. Fig 2. The program will open on the Selection and Arrangement tab Click Open to add your images. Choose all the images that are to be merged by holding the Ctrl or Shift keys. Once the images are chose, click Open. Fig. 3 If you left anything out, you can always go back to Open and add more pictures.

Fig. 1

Now check your photos Are they in the correct order. Click and drag to Fig. 3 put them in the correct order - Left to Right (clockwise) NOTE: If you took your pictures right to left make sure the first picture at the left of your monitor is the image you saw at the left at your photo site. Do you have any duplicated images that need to be deleted - remember you only need 1/4 to 1/2 image overlap for this to work correctly Once everything is in the correct order and youve checked the overlap youre ready for the next step

Click on the Merge tab Click on the start icon Input the cameras focal length message appears > click OK. Fig. 4 When the merge settings menu appears you may just accept the default settings or fill in the info. Fig. 5 Your images will now be stitched together.

Fig. 5

Fig. 4
NOTE: If the resulting merged image doesnt look quite right enlarge it and check it carefully.

Fig. 6

You may turn on the seam marks to see where the images are overlapped and you may click and drag your images to line these up as you choose. Fig. 7 If things are way out of alignment, did you take your pictures counterclockwise? That is one of the major reasons for problems. Go back to the original images and drag them Fig. 7 into the correct order beginning from the left side of your scene. Did you use a tripod? If not, your pictures are not in a straight line which reduces the image area height as shown in Figure 8 below.
Once you have the picture configured to the best of your ability, it is time to save it.

Fig. 8

Click on the 3. Save tab Click on the Save folder icon
You may save the file in a variety of formats. Choose JPEG if you just want a long flat panoramic image. Choose QuickTime for the 360 tour. You may save the same merged file to multiple formats, but if you do not save all the files at this time you will have to recreate the merged photo before you may save it into additional formats. Be sure the images are saved to your franklin drive NOT your G drive. Remember too - no spaces in the name of the files You will have the option to view the images as they are saved. Fig. 10

Fig. 9

Fig. 10
To add the image to your web page or PowerPoint, insert it as you would any image. REMEMBER to save and name your web page before adding images or linking the movies. To add the 360 tour to your web page, youre going to link it to either an inserted image or to a line of text so the student will know what they will see after clicking. Click on the image or highlight the text, click the Link icon in Nvu, choose file, and remember to look for all files, click on the.mov file - make sure the URL is relative to page location option activates and remember this may not happen until you save the page.
If you took digital video clips as well they are linked the same way.
