Upgrade Notes
This section provides notes that customers should be aware of before upgrading to IP phone firmware release 1.3.1. Aastra Telecom recommends that customers read this section completely and thoroughly prior to the upgrade to avoid any known issues with the upgrade process. The recommended base IP Phone firmware to upgrade to this new firmware release is 1.2.2 or 1.3.0. Users who previously adjusted the audio transmit and receive gains for the Aastra IP Phones should reset the values to 0 and re-tune their phones again with release 1.3.1 if necessary. This is required to avoid high transmit levels heard by the far-end after upgrading to 1.3.1. To set audio transmit and receive gains in the 1.3.1 configuration files, see this release note, section 5.15 Manual Audio Transmit and Receive Gain Adjustments (optional) on page 36. Users upgrading from release 1.2.2 to 1.3.x may experience post-upgrade configuration issues IF they previously configured their phones solely using the telephone user interface or Aastra Web user interface. Users may need to reconfigure their settings again after the upgrade due to new file system enhancements. This issue does not affect customers who configure their phones using a TFTP/FTP/HTTP server. Users who wish to downgrade from release 1.3.1 should do so to release 1.2.2 to restore the 1.2.x file system structure. Failure to downgrade to version 1.2.2 may result in configuration parameters being ignored.

Bridged Line Appearance (BLA) (not supported on 9112i)
A SIP bridge line appearance (BLA) feature has been added to the IP phones. BLA allows multiple devices to share a single directory address (DA). For example, people working at a technical support department could be located in different places. If their desktop phones are configured for BLA DA, when customer calls come in, all the phones with the BLA DA would ring but the call can only be answered by one of them. Once the call is answered, the rest of the phones reflect the status of the call. If the call was put on hold by the original recipient, any one from the group can pick up the call. Notes: 1. This feature is dependent on the IP telephony system to which the IP phone is registered and according to draft-anil-sipping-bla-02.txt. 2. Interactive Intelligence and Sylantro servers support the single BLA group with single line appearance feature only. You can apply BLA on the IP phones as follows: As a single BLA group - One BLA DA is shared among multiple phones. Only one phone at a time can pick up an incoming call or initiate an outgoing call on the BLA DA. All phones reflect the usage of the BLA DA. If the call is put on hold, any one from the group can pick up the held call. As a multiple BLA group - On one single phone, multiple BLA DA can be associated with different line appearances. Every BLA DA is independent from each other and follows the same rules as a single BLA group. As multiple instances of a BLA DA - A x-line-id parameter was defined in draft-anilsipping-bla-02.txt to present the incoming call to or place an outgoing call on the specified line appearance instance. The parameter is carried in Alert-Info header field over the request-URI (INVITE e.g.) or in the NOTIFY messages to report the status of a dialog.
When configuring the BLA feature on a Sylantro server, the value set for the sip lineN bla number parameter shall be the same value set for the sip lineN user name parameter for all the phones in the group. For example, if sip lineN user name is 1010, you would configure BLA on a per-line basis for the Sylantro server as follows: sip line1 user name: 1010 sip line1 bla number: 1010 (# for all the phones)
For ININ Server: When configuring the BLA feature on an ININ server, the parameter to use is sip lineN bla numberN. The value set for the sip lineN bla numberN parameter shall be the same value set for the sip lineN user name parameter without the incremented phone #. For example, if the sip lineN user name for the first phone is 10101, and the sip lineN user name for the second phone is 10102, etc. you would configure BLA on a per-line basis for the ININ server as follows: sip line1 user name: 10101 sip line1 bla number: sip line1 user name: 10102 sip line1 bla number: 1010 sip line1 user name: 1010 sip line1 bla number: 1010 (# for phone 1 with appearance of phone 3) (# for phone 2 with appearance of phone 3) (# for phone 3)
Note: The original phone number which has the bridged line appearance on other phones, will have the sip lineN user name parameter the same as the sip lineN bla number (1010 in the above example on Phone 3).
Format Default Value Range Example Integer N/A N/A Sylantro Server: sip line1 bla number: 1010 ININ Server: sip line 1 bla number: 1010

Using the Hold Button with BLA Configuration
If you have either a global or per-line BLA configuration, and you want to share a call on the line with a BLA group, you need to press the Hold button before sharing the call with the group. For example, if line 1 is configured for BLA, and you pick up a call on line 1, you must press the Hold button to share the call with the BLA group. If you pick up a call on line 1 configured for BLA, and another call comes in on line 2, you can pick up line 2 without putting line 1 on hold. The line 1 call will be on hold automatically; however it is on hold locally only. The line 1 call cannot be shared with the BLA group. Note: The Hold button must be pressed for a call on a BLA line to be shared with the BLA group.

5.13 Domain Name Support in the TFTP and Time Server Fields
Release 1.3.1 now supports an administrator entry of a domain name in the TFTP and Time Server parameters on the IP phones. These parameters are configurable using the Aastra Web UI and the configuration files. Note: The TFTP domain name resolves when the phone is restarted. The Time Server domain name resolves when it is saved and when the phone restarts.
Using the Aastra Web UI, you configure a primary TFTP Server at Advanced Settings->Configuration Server, and in the TFTP Server field, enter a domain name (for example, 123.ana.aastra.com). You can also enter a domain name for an alternate TFTP server in the Alternate TFTP Server field. You configure the Time Server at Advanced Settings->Network->Advanced Network Settings, and in the Timer Server 1, 2, or 3 fields, enter a domain name (for example, 123.ana.aastra.com).
You use the following parameters to configure the TFTP Server and the Time Server in the configuration files: tftp server: <domain name or IP address> alternative tftp server: <domain name or IP address> time server1: <domain name or IP address> time server2: <domain name or IP address> time server3: <domain name or IP address>

Additional Features for 480i and 480i CT 5.15 Incoming/Outgoing Intercom Feature with Auto-Answer
(480i/480i CT only) A new incoming and outgoing Intercom feature complemented by the auto-answer feature has been added to release 1.3.1 of the IP phones. The Intercom feature allows you to press the Icom button (]) and then enter the number you want to call to initiate an intercom call which is controlled either locally (phone-side) or by the SIP server (server-side). Note: Auto-answer is applicable to all IP phone models, but the Intercom feature is applicable to the 480i and 480i CT only. For outgoing intercom calls, an available unused line is found when the Icom button is pressed. Since this line has no configuration, the phone applies an existing configuration ("Outgoing Intercom Settings", Line, default is Line 1) to this line in preparation for placing the intercom call. For example, an outgoing intercom call can use the configuration of line 1 but places the actual intercom call using line 9. A phone-side Intercom call indicates the phone is responsible for telling the recipient that an intercom call is being placed, while a server-side intercom call means the SIP server is responsible for informing the recipient. Server-side calls require additional configuration of a prefix code. After pressing the Icom button and entering the number to call, the phone automatically adds the prefix to the called number and sends the outgoing call via the server. For incoming intercom calls, you can enable (turn ON) or disable (turn OFF) the microphone on the IP phone for intercom calls. You can also enable or disable auto-answer. If auto-answer is enabled on the IP phone, the phone plays a tone to alert the user before answering the intercom call. If auto-answer is disabled, the phone rejects the incoming intercom call and sends a busy signal to the caller. By default, the microphone is disabled and auto-answer is enabled. You can configure the Intercom feature using the Aastra Web UI or the configuration files (aastra.cfg and <mac>.cfg). Note: An administrator can configure the incoming and outgoing Intercom feature. A user can configure the incoming Intercom feature only.

5.19.2 Use of XML APIs on Custom Softkeys
Also, Release 1.3.1 now allows developers to customize softkeys on the 480i and 480i CT IP phones to use XML APIs to produce powerful XML applications. Developers can now link arbitrary URIs to keys in the XML screens and can invoke softkey behavior to each XML screen type. A new softkey XML element has been implemented that you can use in conjunction with all current XML objects (Text Menu, Text Screen, User Input, Directory) on the IP phones. This new element is as follows:
<SoftKey index = 1-6> <Label> Text (10 characters max will fit on the screen) </Label> <URI> http://someserver/somepage.pl OR SoftKey:someaction </URI> </Softkey>
You can define up to six softkeys before the closing tag of any object on the 480i and 480i CT. The following example illustrates the use of the new softkey XML element used with the Text Menu object, and the resulting screen output. Text Menu Object
<AastraIPPhoneTextMenu> <Title> New Directory </Title> <MenuItem> <Prompt> My 480i </Prompt> <URI>10.50.10.49 </URI> <MenuItem> <MenuItem> <Prompt> My 9112 </Prompt> <URI>10.50.10.75</URI> </MenuItem> <SoftKey index = 1 > <Label> Dial </Label> <URI>SoftKey:Dial</URI> </Softkey> <SoftKey index = 2> <Label> Back </Label> <URI>http://someserver/somepage.xml</URI> </Softkey> <SoftKey index = 5> <Label> More </Label> <URI>http://someserver/somepage.xml</URI> </Softkey> <SoftKey index = 6> <Label> Cancel </Label> <URI>SoftKey:Exit</URI> </Softkey> </AastraIPPhoneTextMenu>

The following softkey functionality is available to the developer for the purpose of reordering or preserving the default functionality of the XML screens. The Dial function is available to screens that allow input. The dial string for the Dial function is taken from the menu items URI on the Menu Screen, and from the editor field input on the Input Screen.

Additional Enhancements Default Character Set Changed The default character set for the XML API is ISO-8859-1 (previously was UTF-8). Enhancements to the XML Objects Additional enhancements to this new XML API feature have been implemented for the Text Screen, Input Screen, and Menu Screen objects. Text Screen Custom URIs can now be added to the Text Screen object. The destroyOnExit attribute, currently used by the User Input Screen and Text Menu Screen objects, is now available for the Text Screen object as well.

User Input Screen A new parameter called editable has been added to the root tag of the User Input Screen. When set to no, the user cannot edit the input in the screen. For example:
<AastraIPPhoneInputScreen type="string" editable="no"> <Title> Dial Screen </Title> <Prompt> Number to dial </Prompt> <URL /> <Parameter /> <Default>5551234</Default> <SoftKey index = "1"><Label>Call</Label><URI>SoftKey:Dial</URI></SoftKey> </AastraIPPhoneInputScreen>
Text Menu Screen When a user accesses an arbitrary URI via a custom soft key, the menu screen sends a bit of information regarding the users currently selected option using a new XML tag called <Selection>. This new tag is optional and is appended to the URI of the custom soft key. The following example shows the use of the new XML tag <Selection>.
<AastraIPPhoneTextMenu defaultIndex = 1> <Title>Parameter Tester</Title> <MenuItem> <Prompt>First Selection</Prompt> <URI>http://someserver/somepage.xml</URI> <Selection>dataToAppend</Selection> </MenuItem> <SoftKey index = 1> <Label>Custom Key</Label> <URI>http://someotherserver/someotherpage.xml</URI> </SoftKey> </AastraIPPhoneTextMenu>
In the above XML API, when a user selects item 1 and presses soft key 1, the URI requested is http://someotherserver/someotherpage.xml?selection=dataToAppend. If a ? already exists in the URI, then a & is used to separate the parameters. Note: The parameter name selection is automatic. If the <Selection> tag is omitted, then nothing extra is appended to the URI. In addition to the new XML tag, the Text Menu screen now has a defaultIndex attribute available in the root tag (also shown in the above example). This attribute is an integer index that forces the cursor to the specified line when the screen is loaded.

Issues Resolved in this Release
Description The 480i UDP Port 17185 is left open. The phone only accepts incoming RTP stream from the IP address where it is sending. The pound (#) was added when repeatedly pressing speeddial key. The phone sends the last SDP instead of the offer SDP. The phone takes too long to failover on INVITE. The Shared Call App does not register call-info when alerting/active/held. The call waiting tone disables subsequent DTMF. MWI - IP phone requires optional Voice Message header before it displays icon. One-way speech with G.729 480i CT: Hangs at 80% Network during bootup using Static IP. Manual DNS entry requires both fields to be filled in. Incorrect functionality of Pickup softkey during SIP conference call. Doesn't load the XML application. The httpLoad (used by XML API) can't resolve some FQDN addresses. DTMF/INFO header line terminator characters are non-compliant. Web UI not usable across a NAT router. The 480i CT not listing all codecs in response to INVITE. Web UI: Truncates TFTP server IP address. "Missing Application attempting to restore" after upgrade from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1.
