Usage Notice


Follow all warnings, precautions and maintenance as recommended in this users guide to maximize the life of your unit. Warning- Warning- Warning- Warning- Warning- Do not look into the projectors lens when the lamp is on. The bright light may hurt your eyes. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this product to rain or moisture. Please do not open or disassemble the product as this may cause electric shock. When changing the lamp, please allow unit to cool down, and follow all changing instructions. This product will detect the life of the lamp itself. Please be sure to change the lamp when it shows warning messages. Reset the Lamp Hour Reset function from the On Screen Display Management menu after replacing the lamp module (refer to page 26) When switching the projector off, please ensure the projector completes its cooling cycle before disconnecting power. Turn on the projector first and then the signal sources. Do not use lens cap when projector is in operation. When the lamp reaches the end of its life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn back on until the lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures listed under Replacing the Lamp.

Turn off the product before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with mild detergent to clean the display housing.
Disconnect the power plug from AC outlet if the product is not
being used for a long period of time.
Block the slots and openings on the unit provided for ventilation.
Use abrasive cleaners, waxes or solvents to clean the unit. Use under the following conditions:
- - - - In extremely hot, cold or humid environments. In areas susceptible to excessive dust and dirt. Near any appliance that generates a strong magnetic field. Place in direct sunlight.

User Controls
Control Panel & Remote Control
There are two ways for you to control the functions: Remote Control and Control Panel.

Using the Control Panel

Refer to the Power On/Off the Projector section on pages 11, 12.

Resync Source Menu

Automatically synchronizes the projector to the input source. Press Source to choose RGB, Component-p, Component-i,
S-Video, Composite, DVI-D (Optional), Video and HDTV sources.
Press Menu to launch the on screen display (OSD) menu. To exit

OSD, press Menu again.

Confirm your selection of items.

Using the Remote Control

Aim the remote at the viewing screen, press and hold this button to activate the laser pointer. Automatically synchronizes the projector to the input source. Press Source to choose RGB, Component-p, Component-i,
S-Video, Composite Video, DVI-D (Optional) and HDTV sources.

Freeze Hide

Press Freeze to pause the screen image. Momentarily turns off the video. Press Hide to hide image,
press again to restore display of the image.

Aspect Ratio

Use this function to choose your desired aspect ratio.


Use this key to close the volume.

Empowering Key

Acer Empowering Key provides three Acer unique functions, they are "Acer eView Management", "Acer eTimer Management" and "Acer eOpening Management" respectively. Press "e" key for more than one second to launch the on screen display main menu to modify its function. Acer eView Management Press "e" to launch Acer eView Management submenu. Acer eView Management is for display mode selection. Please refer to On Screen Display Menus section for more detail. Acer eTimer Management Press "e" to launch Acer eTimer Management submenu. Acer eTimer Management provides the reminding function for presentation time control. Please refer to On Screen Display Menus section for more detail. Acer eOpening Management Press "e" to launch Acer eOpening Management submenu. Acer eOpening Management allows user to change the Startup screen to their personalized image. Please refer to On Screen Display section for details.

On Screen Display Menus
The Projector has multilingual On Screen Display menus that allow you to make image adjustments and change a variety of settings. The projector will automatically detect the source.

How to operate

1. To open the OSD menu, press Menu on the Remote Control

or Control Panel.

2. When OSD is displayed, use

Color (Computer / Video Mode)

Display Mode

There are many factory presets optimized for various types of images.
Bright : For brightness optimization. PC : For computer or notebook. Video : For playing video in a bright environment. Theater : For Home Theatre usage in a dark room. sRGB : For true-color optimization. User : Memorize users settings. Brightness

Frequencychanges the display data frequency to match the frequency of your computers graphic card. If you experience a vertical flickering bar, use this function to make an adjustment.


Tracking synchronizes the signal timing of the display with the graphic card. If you experience an unstable or flickering image, use this function to correct it.

Management (Computer / Video Mode)

ECO Mode

Choose On to dim the projector lamp which will lower power consumption, extend the lamp life and reduce noise. Choose Off to return normal mode.

Auto Shutdown(Minutes)

The projector will auto shutdown while there is no signal input after the setting time.

Source Lock

When source lock is turned off, the projector will search for other signals if the current input signal is lost. When source lock is turned on, it will Lock the current source channel before you press Source button on remote control for next channel.

Menu Location

Choose the Menu location on the display screen.

Startup Screen

Use this function to select your desired startup screen. If you change the setting from one to another, when you exit the OSD menu, the new setting will take effect.

loaded from PC to projector via the USB cable and Acer eOpening Management utility (refer to the description of below section).

Acer eOpening Management is a PC utility for user to change the default startup screen of Acer projector to their desired image. You can install Acer eOpening Management from the bundled CD. Connect the projector to your PC with the bundled USB cable then execute Acer eOpening Management utility to download your desired image from your PC to projector. Before the download starts, the projector must enter Download Mode first. Please follow the instruction below to enter Download Mode. 1. If the projector was turned on, press power button twice to turn off the projector. 2. Unplug the AC power cord from the projector. 3. Press and hold Menu and buttons simultaneously then plug the AC power cord to the projector. 4. When Temp and Lamp LEDs are turned light, release both buttons, projector enters download mode. 5. Please make sure the USB cable has been connected to the projector from your PC.

Lamp Hour Elapse

Displays the lamps elapsed operating time (in hours).

Lamp Reminding

Choose this function to show or to hide warning message when the changing lamp message is displayed. The message will show up 30 hours before end of life. 25. English

Lamp Hour Reset

Press the button after choosing Yes to turn the lamp hour c ounter to 0 hours.


Press to start Security setting. If the Security function is enabled, your must enter Administrator Password first before Security setting.
This projector provides an excellent security function for the administrator to manage the usage of the projector. have to enter password depending on the " Security Mode". Please refer to "User Password" section for details. without password.

If administrator forgot Administrator Password, do the following to retrieve the Administrator Password:
1. Press MENU for more than 4 seconds when any of Enter Password or Enter Administrator Password dialogue is currently displayed.
2. Write down the Unlock ID and contact with Acer service center. They will give you new Administrator Password according to the Unlock ID. 3. Once the new Administrator Password retrieved from Acer has been logged into the projector, old Administrator Password will be replaced by the new password.

Press the button after choosing Yes to return the display parameters on all menus to the factory default settings.

Ensure all the cables and power connections are correctly and
securely connected as described in the Installation section.

4. Follow the above steps 1-2. Click on the Advanced Properties button. 5. Select the Change button under the Monitor tab. 6. Click on Show all devices. Then select Standard monitor types under the Manufacturers box ; choose the resolution mode you need under the Models box. 7. Verify that the resolution setting of the monitor display is less than or equal to 800 x 600.
If you are using a Notebook PC:
1. You are required to implement the above steps of resolution setting of the computer first. 2. Switch the Notebook PC display to the external display only or CRT only mode.
If you experience difficulty in changing resolutions or your monitor freezes, restart all the equipment and the projector.
Problem: The screen of the Notebook or PowerBook computer is not displaying your presentation.
Some Notebook PCs may deactivate their screens when a second display device is in use. Refer to your computers documentation for information on how to reactivate the monitor display.
If you are using an Apple PowerBook:
In Control Panels, open the PowerBook Display to select Video Mirroring On.
Problem: Image is unstable or flickering
Use Tracking to correct it. Refer to page 23. Change the monitor color setting from your computer.
Problem: Image has vertical flickering bar
Use Frequency to make an ad adjustment. Refer to page 23. Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphic card to
make it compatible with the product. Refer to page 25.
Problem: Image is out of focus
Adjusts the Focus Ring on the projector lens. Refer to page 14. Make sure the projection screen is between the required distance

Problem: The image is outstretched when displaying 16:9 DVD. The projector automatically detects 16:9 DVD and adjusts the aspect ratio by digitizing to full screen with 4:3 default setting.
If the image is still outstretched, you will also need to adjust the aspect ratio by referring to the following:
Please select 4:3 aspect ratio type on your DVD player if you are

playing a 16:9 DVD.

If you cant select 4:3 aspect ratio type on your DVD player, please
select 4:3 aspect ratio in the on screen menu.
Problem: Image is reversed.

Problem: Lamp burns out or makes a popping sound
When the lamp reaches its end of life, it will burn out and may
make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn on until the lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures in the Replacing the Lamp. See page 37.

Replacing the lamp
The projector will detect the lamp life itself. It will show you a warning message Lamp is approaching the end of its useful life in full power operation. Replacement Suggested! When you see this message, changing the lamp as soon as possible. Make sure the projector has been cooled down for at least 30 minutes before changing the lamp.
Warning: Lamp compartment is hot! Allow it to cool down before changing lamp!

Lamp Changing Procedure:

Warning: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not drop the lamp module or touch the lamp bulb. The bulb may shatter and cause injury if it is dropped.
1. Turn the power off the projector by pressing the Power button. 2. Allow the projector to cool down at least 30 minutes. 3. Disconnect the power cord. 4. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw from the cover. 5. Push up and remove the cover. 6. Remove the 2 screws from the lamp module. 7. Pull out the lamp module. To replace the lamp module, reverse the previous steps.
