GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF KP600L
The KP600L is an EEPROM based Digital Arming Station with LCD display that will operate on any of the following SP series products: SP600, 650, 750 and the SP850. The KP600L has several locations that allow customizing of a system to indicate specific system status messages and zone descriptions. While the KP600L keypad is the preferred keypad for programming the SP850 control panel, you cannot program the SP600, 650 or 750 with this keypad. Please read and become familiar with the information contained in the Owner`s Manual before proceeding with the installation. Dimensions: 6 1/2" x 4 5/8" x 1" Current Consumption: 80 mA minimum, 100 mA maximum each unit The material in this publication is for informational purposes only and is subject to change without notice. Sentrol, Inc. assumes no responsibility for any error which may appear in this publication.
2) Insert the keypad wire through the opening in the center of the back housing and fasten the back to the wall using sheet metal screws and wall anchors. On solid walls use the side knock outs for wiring.

ELECTRICAL BOX MOUNTING

1) The KP600L may be mounted directly onto a double gang box using the four curved slotted holes and four #6 x 32 x 1" pan head screws. 2) Refer to the following table or the hook up diagram in the control panel for the correct wiring. CAUTION: ALL CONNECTIONS SHOULD BE WITH POWER REMOVED KP600L KPD +V KPD -V KPD Clk KPD Data KP600F Red Black Blue Yellow SP600-750 Term. 8 Term. 3 Term. 9 Term. 10 SP850/AV6500 Term. 5 or 6 Term. 7 or 8 Term. 9 Term. 10
PROGRAMMING THE SP850 CONTROL PANEL WITH THE KP600L KEYPAD
The SP850 control panels are programmed with a set of Factory Defaults that will work in a wide range of applications. If you need to change any of the programming values, or need to add data for Central Station reporting, the panel programming can be changed on all control panels with the P4000 Programmer, the keypad and with ScanPro Downloader software. The Default Values held within the KP600L can only be changed through keypad programming. (See the Panel Installation Manual for Programming work sheets.)

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

Remove the KP600L from the packing box. The front and rear covers snap together and can be easily separated for installation. Insert a small screwdriver into the slots located at the bottom of the keypad. Gently press in and lift the front cover away from the back plate.

SURFACE MOUNTING

1) Using the rear plastic housing cover as a template, mark the four mounting holes on the wall. There are several different sets of mounting holes to suit a variety of different situations. The recommended mounting height is between 48" and 54" from the floor to the top edge of the keypad, where the customer can easily view the LCD display. Optimum viewing angle for the customer is 20-30.

CHANGING SP850 PANEL DATA THROUGH THE KEYPAD
1) To activate panel programming mode, enter the following sequence:
[* & 0] [ I I I I ] * 8 * 9 [5]
[ I I I I ] = Installer's Access Code (Factory Default for the SP850 is 7777) 2) Entering the programming mode places the cursor at location 1 indicated by the display showing :001.
Press ( * ) to show the current data in that address. Programming Notes: As the "5" of the above sequence is entered, all tones are silenced for the duration of the programming. The (*) key is used to toggle between "Memory Location" and "Data". If any Data or Memory Location is entered incorrectly, simply press [1&3] simultaneously and reenter the correct entry. 3) To move to a memory location a) Ensure that a location is displayed on the right side and enter the three digit memory location, i.e. ("012" = 12). If data on the left side is showing simply press the [ * ] key. 4) To add or change data in a Memory Location: a) Ensure that the "Data" is displayed on the left side of the display. b) If blank, enter the desired value. You may overwrite any value by simply entering the data. c) Press the [ # ] key to enter the data, this will also move you to the next location of the program. d) It is recommended that you go back through the program when you are done to verify that the correct data is entered. 5) Refer to the programming work sheet (Figure 3 in the Installation Manual) for memory locations and contents, as well as the range of data each memory location can accept. 6) To exit the programming mode, make sure that the location number is indicated on the right. If not, press ( * ) and: Press
CHANGING KEYPAD DISPLAY DATA OR TEXT IN THE KP600L
The KP600L keypad must have its text messages programmed, so these are set to default values at the factory. The SP Series Control Panels will work well with these default values. Note: You MUST program "Keypad" Memory Location 001 if any 24 hour zones are programmed in the panel. SP600/650 Note: If the keypad is to function on a SP600 or 650 you must program Memory Location 002 with at least a "2". You can also customize the text messages. Keypad Display information can only be programmed through the keypad. The P4000 programmer and the ScanPro Downloading software will not change the Keypad Display information. Refer to the keypad configuration map (Figure 1) for programming Alpha-Numeric characters. Make the changes you need using the following instructions. 1) Enter the Panel Programming Mode1 and press the (#) key. The display will read 002. Press the (*) & (0) keys simultaneously to enter the Keypad Program Mode. The display now reads 001. 2) "Memory Locations" and "Data" are displayed the same as in panel programming mode, and the ( * ) key toggles between the two modes.

With the SP600, 650 or 750 use the particular panel's Installer code and standard "Enter Panel Programming" sequence.
3) The following commands control the various functions within Keypad Display programming:
[ 1 & 3 ] Pressed simultaneously clears the "data" [4&5] [1&2] [#]
or "memory location" Pressed simultaneously moves the cursor one character to the RIGHT Pressed simultaneously moves the cursor one character to the LEFT Saves the data and moves to the next location. (Also used to step to the next location when not making any data changes.)
[ * & # ] simultaneously.
You must use this order to exit either Panel or Keypad Display programming modes. If you are programming with the KP600F keypad on a system that also has a KP600L connected, the KP600L keypad will display erroneous messages during programming. The KP600L is the recommended keypad to use for the SP850 control panel programming.

[*] [0]

Toggles the "Memory Location" and its "Data" Pressed twice CLEARS the character where the cursor is positioned

Figure 1

Note: While in the keypad programming, locations 001 & 002 can be cleared by either simultaneously pressing the [ 1 & 3 ] keys or by pressing [ 0 ]. 4) When exiting the programming mode, make sure that the location number is indicated on the right. If not, press ( * ) and: Press [ * & # ] simultaneously.

[BLANK]

Character configuration map for programming Alpha-Numeric descriptions using the KP600L keypad. Each time a numeric key is pressed the associated character or letter shown above will be indicated on the display. As an example: The first time the 8 key is pressed an "8" is displayed, the second time a "V", the third a "W", and the fourth an "X". If this key were pressed again, the "8" would show, etc.
If both the LED and LCD keypads are installed on a SP850 system and the LED keypad is used for panel programming, the KP600L keypad will display erroneous status messages. Again, the LCD keypad is recommended for programming.
