The Huz 5 KO DropStop does not waste a single drop
Made in Germany and its not just the design that makes it unmistakably an AEG appliance: the Huz 5 KO DropStop with its patented mechanics is one of the only vented below-basin storage water heater that does not drip during heating. Ideal for use in the kitchen and washbasins in the bathroom, it saves valuable drinking water and, over its long service life, signicantly reduces energy consumption and electricity costs.

Unmistakably an AEG appliance: The functional, harmonious design blends in perfectly with its surroundings.
DropStop: The expansion water which is produced during heating is collected in a cylinder with a exible plastic membrane (1). The next time water is drawn, the cylinder is emptied again via the nozzle (2) thereby providing space for the next heating cycle. This saves energy and water and reduces unsightly limescale on the tap ttings.

1) The specied mixed-water volume with 40 C service temperature is derived from mixing cold water with storage heater water (65 C) where the appliance is in its ready-to-operate state. 2) The standing loss indicates the amount of energy required over 24 hours in order to maintain a storage temperature of 65 C (without water being drawn). The standing loss is an indication of the energy efciency of the storage water heater.
Safety and optimum convenience
Above-basin or below-basin installation: the Huz 5 KO Comfort/Hoz 5 Comfort vented small storage water heaters feature outstanding functionality and excellent performance. The appliances have, for example, resettable overheat protection and an extremely low standing loss thanks to excellent thermal insulation: quality made in Germany.

Owing to the design of the unit, the cold-water and hot-water connections are physically connected on vented pillar mixers. During periods where no water is being drawn, gravity causes hot water to be circulated continuously to the tap tting where it is cooled.
ThermoStop consists of a small siphon (1) which collects the air bubbles that form when the heating element heats up. The resulting pocket of air interrupts heat circulation to the tap tting and the heat remains in the water storage heater tank.
Flexible installation: The vented small storage water heaters can be installed above or below the washbasin their performance characteristics, however, remain the same in both cases.

Hot water without fuss

Compact, fully automatic and, of course made in Germany: The STM 20-40 oor-standing storage water heaters from AEG are ideal as central hot-water supply units for multi-dwelling residential buildings. They function fully automatically in dual-circuit mode, are fully insulated and, with a storage capacity of between 200 and 400 litres, satisfy all hot-water requirements perfectly.

For the user and fitter

Operating and installation instructions
Keep these instructions in a safe place. Hand them over to the new owner if the appliance changes hands. Make them available to the fitter when any maintenance work or repairs are carried out.

Wall mounting

Fit the EWHComfort / ComfortN wall-mounted storage water heaters in a frost-proof room next to the connection point. The materials used to mount the appliance must be selected according to the strength of the wall. The combined weight of the storage water heaters and their water filling (see the table Technical specifications) must be taken into consideration. The position of the screws required for installation is shown in Figure 3. The mounting brackets for installation are an integral part of the storage water heater. The wall-mounted storage water heaters are suitable for vertical or horizontal wall mounting (see Fig. 3).

Water connection

The appliance must be connected to the water system by an authorised specialist technician, taking the applicable installation instructions and the relevant standards and regulations into consideration. The water connection is unvented (pressureproof ) to supply several drawing points. The wall-mounted storage water heater is suitable for connection to plastic pipe systems. Information on connecting to plastic pipe systems: In the event of malfunctions, temperatures of up to 95C (max. 0.6MPa) can occur. Any plastic pipes used must be designed for these conditions. If the water pressure is higher than 5bar, a pressure reducer must be fitted in the coldwater supply line. Before connecting the storage water heater to the water pipe, rinse out the pipe thoroughly to prevent any foreign objects from entering the storage water heater or the safety components. It is recommended to install the storage water heater in the way shown in Figure 4. The storage water heater must always be installed together with an approved diaphragm safety valve. The safety information given in the installation instructions for the diaphragm safety valve must be observed. The safety valve must be checked to ensure that it is functioning correctly. The safety valve protects the storage water heater from excessive increases in pressure. The EWHComfort wall-mounted storage water heaters are fitted with a safety valve without non-return valve as an accessory. The EWHComfortN wall-mounted storage water heaters are fitted with a safety valve with non-return valve as an accessory. The safety valve must be actuated at regular intervals to prevent it from jamming as a result of furring (lime deposits). The drippingwater outlet of the safety valve (for EWHComfortN appliances) must always remain open to the atmosphere. The drippingwater outlet must be connected to a downward-pointing drain pipe which ensures unobstructed drainage of the water. Filling: After connecting the storage water heater, open the stop valve. Then open the hotwater tap. The storage water heater is full when water is discharged from the hotwater tap. Then close the outlet tap and check the system for leaks. Never connect the storage water heater to the electrical power supply without first checking whether the storage water heater is actually filled with water.

The appliance must be connected to the power supply taking the applicable installation instructions and the relevant standards and regulations into consideration. It is particularly important to observe the Regulations for installing highvoltage systems with rated voltages up to 1000V and regulations from the local power supply company. The appliances are only designed for permanent connection to a 230V~ AC network. A contact gap of at least 3mm (e.g. fuse) along the supply cable must be provided for all poles at the installation location. Electrical connection should be carried out by an authorised fitter only. The storage water heater has a connecting cable (length approx. 1.00 m). When delivered, the EWHComfort / ComfortN wall-mounted storage water heaters are wired in the way shown in circuit diagram 2.

Putting into operation

The specialist technician must monitor the appliance when it is put into operation and heats water for the first time. The water temperature can be adjusted as required (see Figure 1). With low hotwater consumption or with very hard water, it is recommended to select the energysaving setting e (approx. 60C). The appliance reheats automatically at certain intervals or when hot water is drawn. It is only advisable to disconnect the storage water heater from the power supply if it is to remain unused for a relatively long period of time. Heat loss is minimised by the highquality heat-insulation material made of CFCfree polyurethane foam. If there is a risk of exposure to subzero temperatures, the stop valve must be closed and the storage water heater then drained via the drain valve at the safety valve.

Maintenance

The outside of the storage water heater does not require any special maintenance. To clean, wipe using a soft cloth or damp sponge only. Do not use any abrasive agents or aggressive detergents. Caution! Always fully disconnect the appliance from the power supply before carrying out any maintenance work. To ensure a long service life, it is recommended to have a specialist technician inspect the anticorrosion anode (magnesium anode) in the appliance once per year. This check may need to be carried out more frequently in areas with particularly aggressive water ask the fitter or your local water supply company for information. The appliance is protected against overheating by a safety temperature limiter which interrupts all phases. If the safety temperature limiter has been triggered, an authorised specialist technician is required to carry out the repair work. After triggering, the safety temperature limiter can be reset by pressing the red button under the switchbox cover.
