Safety warnings

For the user
The cooker hood is designed to extract unpleasant odours from the kitchen, it will not extract steam. Always cover lighted elements, to prevent excess heat from damaging the appliance. In the case of oil, gas and coal fired cookers it is essential to avoid open flames. Also, when frying, keep the deep frying pan on the cooker top/ cooker under careful control. The hot oil in the frying pan might ignite due to overheating. The risk of self-ignition increases when the oil being used is dirty. It is extremely important to note that overheating can cause a fire. Never carry out any flamb cooking under the hood. Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before carrying out any work on the hood, including replacing the light bulb (take the cartridge fuse out of the fuse holder or switch off the automatic circuit breaker). It is very important to clean the hood and replace the filter at the recommended intervals. Failure to do so could cause grease deposits to build up, resulting in a fire hazard. The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. WARNING - Ensure that the appliance is switched off before replacing the lamp to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

For the installer

When used as an extractor unit, the hood must be fitted with a 150mm diameter hose. Should there already be a pipe of diameter 125 or 120 mm that ducts to the outside through the walls or roof, it is possible to use the 150/125-120 mm reduction flange provided. In this case the hood will be slightly noisier. When installing the hood, make sure you respect the following minimum distance from the top edge of the cooking hob/ring surfaces: electric hobs 500 mm gas hobs 650 mm coal and oil cookers 700 mm min. 63
The national Standard on fuel-burning systems specifies a maximum depression of 0.04 mbar in such rooms. The air outlet must not be connected to chimney flues or combustion gas ducts. The air outlet must under no circumstances be connected to ventilation ducts for rooms in which fuel-burning appliances are installed. The air outlet installation must comply with the regulations laid down by the relevant authorities. When the unit is used in its extractor version, a sufficiently large ventilation hole must be provided, with dimensions that are approximately the same as the outlet hole. National and regional building regulations impose a number of restrictions on using hoods and fuel-burning appliances connected to a chimney, such as coal or oil room-heaters and gas fires, in the same room. Hoods can only be used safely with appliances connected to a chimney if the room and/or flat (air/environment combination) is ventilated from outside using a suitable ventilation hole approximately 500-600 cm2 large to avoid the possibility of a depression being created during operation of the hood. If you have any doubts, contact the relevant controlling authority or building inspectors office. Since the rule for rooms with fuel burning appliances is outlet hole of the same size as the ventilation hole, a hole of 500-600 cm2, which is to say a larger hole, could reduce the performance of the extractor hood. If the hood is used in its filtering function, it will operate simply and safely in the above conditions without the need for any of the aforementioned measures. When the hood is used in its extractor function, the following rules must be followed to obtain optimal operation: short and straight outlet hose keep bends in outlet hose to a minimum never install the hoses with an acute angle, they must always follow a gentle curve. keep the hose as large as possible (preferably the same diameter as the outlet hole). Failure to observe these basic instructions will drastically reduce the performance and increase the noise levels of the extractor hood.

Description of the Appliance
The hood is supplied as an extractor unit and can also be used with a filtering function by fitting one charcoal filter. You will need an original AEG charcoal filter for this function (Available from your local AEG Service Force Centre).

Extractor version

In this version fumes are extracted to the outside via a hose connected to the coupling ring A. Fig. 1. Fig. 1 In order to obtain the best performance the hose should have a diameter equal to the outlet hole. Should there already be a pipe of diameter 125 mm that ducts to the outside through the walls or roof, it is possible to use the 150/ 125 mm reduction flange provided. In this case the hood will be slightly noisier.

Filter Version

The air is filtered through an charcoal filter and returned to the kitchen through the top grill of the outlet pipe. You will need an original AEG charcoal filter for the filtering function. (See Special Accessories). Fix the deflector using 2 screws 2,9x13 mm. Fig. 2. Optionally, the position of the chimney elements can be changed. When using the hood in the filter version the chimney must be fixed at the top, with the air outlet grill at the side.

In automatic function (ON) the hood enters into function (extraction) on the basis of the change in the normal environmental conditions that the hood notices through its sensors. The display shows the extraction speed (power) set. Attention! The hood is equipped with an automatic system that establishes what the normal environmental conditions are.

In the case of abnormal operation, calibration can be carried out manually: Manual calibration Carry out manual calibration in the following cases: When the hood is installed for the first time. When power is cut off for many hours or days (e.g. during prolonged holidays). When a very rapid change in temperature and/or humidity in the kitchen takes place. Carry out calibration with the hob off, at normal ambient temperature and in the absence of an appreciable amount of steam: press push button A and set the hood OFF (A key OFF) press push buttons A and D simultaneously for 3 secs. The hood emits a sound signal to indicate calibration taking place. Sensors test When functioning in automatic, the system continuously tests the efficiency of the sensors. In case of damage, it signals the fault, making the D push button flash the word SENSOR. Contact technical assistance. In this situation the hood can, in any case, be used in the manual mode. Safety procedure Self-activation of automatic SAFETY functioning in particular conditions: if the sensors reveal an excessive increase in temperature, even if the hood is in manual functioning mode, the system self selects automatic functioning and the extraction motor starts. The hood can be turned off by pressing push button A. Control device for grease and charcoal filters DK 9660 - DK 9690 - DK 9960 - DK 9990 - HC 5690
This hood is fitted with a device that signals when it is necessary to clean the grease filter or the charcoal filter (if the hood is used in the recirculation version with a charcoal filter). On delivery, the hood is not supplied with a charcoal filter, so the saturation indicator will be disabled. If the hood is to be used with a charcoal filter, the saturation indicator light must be enabled as follows: Pressing keys B and D simultaneously for three seconds, LED F lights up and begins to flash the 1st speed led. After 1 second the 2nd speed led also flashes and the system emits a sound signal (-Beep-) to indicate setting taking place. To remove the charcoal filter signal press push buttons B and D simultaneously for 3 seconds. LED F lights up and begins to flash the 1st speed led (grease filter) and the 2nd speed led. After 1 second, only the 1st speed led continues to flash. The system emits a sound signal (-Beep-) to indicate setting taking place. Grease filter LED The 1st speed led (+ led F) flashes, when it is time to clean the grease filter. Always comply with the maintenance instructions for the grease filter. Charcoal filter LED The 2nd speed led (+ led F) flashes, when the charcoal filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. Resetting the saturation indicator After cleaning or replacing the filters, press button 1 for 3 seconds until the 1st speed led or the second speed led stops flashing. The F LED also turns off. Warning! The resetting of the saturation indicator MUST be done in stand-by, never disconnect the hood from the mains.

Maintenance and care

The hood must always be disconnected from the electricity supply before beginning any maintenance work.

Cleaning the hood

Clean the outside of the hood using a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Never use corrosive, abrasive or flammable cleaning products. Never insert pointed objects in the motors protective grid. Wash the outside surfaces using a delicate detergent solution. Never use caustic detergents or abrasive brushes or powders. Only ever clean the switch panel and filter grille using a damp cloth and delicate detergents. It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the filters at the recommended intervals. Failure to do so will cause grease deposits to build up that could constitute a fire hazard.

Metal grease filter

The purpose of the grease filters is to absorb grease particles which form during cooking and it must always be used, either in the external extraction or internal recycling function. Attention: the metal grease filters must be removed and washed, either by hand or in the dishwasher, every four weeks.
Removing the metal grease filter
First, push the metal grease filter stop backwards, then extract the filter, pulling downwards. Fig. 3. Hand washing Soak grease filters for about one hour in hot water with a little washing-up liquid, then rinse off thoroughly with hot water. Repeat the process if necessary. Refit the grease filters when they are dry. Dishwasher Place grease filters in the dishwasher. Select most powerful washing programme and highest temperature, at least 65C. Repeat the process. Refit Fig. 3 the grease filters when they are dry. When washing the metal grease filter in the dishwasher a slight discolouration of the filter can occur, this does not have any impact on its performance. Clean the inner housing using a hot detergent solution only (never use caustic detergents, abrasive powders or brushes).

Charcoal filter

The charcoal filter should only be used if you want to use the hood in the recirculation function. To do this you will need an original AEG charcoal filter (available from your local Service Force Centre). Cleaning/replacing the charcoal filter Unlike other carbon filters, the LONGLIFE carbon filter can be cleaned and reactivated. At normal use the filter should be cleaned every second month (when using the hood 2,5 hours per day, in avarage). The best way to clean the filter is in the dishwasher. Use normal detergent and choose the highest temperature (65 C). Wash the filter separately so that no food parts gets stuck on the filter and later causes bad odours. To reactivate the charcoal, the filter should be dried in an oven for 10 minutes with a temperature of maximum 100 C. After approximately three years of use, the charcoal filter should be replaced with a new, as the odour reduction capacity will be reduced. Mounting - Fig. 4 Put the charcoal filter frame in place and fix it with 5 screws. Fit the charcoal filter first from the rear side and fix it frontwards using the two red keys A.
Fig. 4 To remove proceed in the reverse order. Always specify the hood model code number and serial number when ordering replacement filters. This information is shown on the registration plate located on the inside of the unit. The charcoal filter can be ordered from your local AEG Service Force Centre. 72

Warning

Failure to observe the instructions on cleaning the unit and changing the filters will cause a fire hazard. You are therefore strongly recommended to follow these instructions. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for any damage to the motor or any fire damage linked to inappropriate maintenance or failure to observe the above safety recommendations.

What to do if
If your appliance fails to work properly please carry out the following checks. Symptom The cooker hood will not start. Solution Check that: The hood is connected to the electricity supply. Check that a fan speed has been selected Check that: The fan speed is set high enough for the task. The grease filters are clean. The kitchen is adequately vented to allow the entry of fresh air. If set up for recirculation, check that the charcoal filter is still effective. If set up for extraction, check that the ducting and outlets are not blocked. The safety cut-out device has been tripped. Turn off the hob and then wait for the device to reset. If the hood has been installed below the heights indicated in the installation instructions the motor will cut-out frequently which will damage the hood.

The cooker hood is not working effectively.
The cooker hood has switched off during operation.

Features

Multifunction.

AEG-Electrolux multifunction ovens combine fan cooking with conventional cooking, giving up to 10 oven tailored functions for exceptional cooking versatility.

Slow cook.

Uses low temperatures to gently tenderise and cook foods through. This is ideal for casseroles and joints.

True fan - Ventitherm.

The True fan Ventitherm cooking system gently circulates hot air evenly throughout the oven cavity, keeping food moist and achieving perfect cooking results. This function is very economical and quicker, as the oven heats up faster, eliminating the need to pre-heat for most dishes and reducing temperatures by 20%, saving both time and energy. The precise true fan cooking system ensures no transfer of avours, so sweet and savoury dishes can be cooked together. True fan Ventitherm allows a greater range of cooking temperatures from 30C-300C, ideal for bread proving to meringues, to the traditional Christmas turkey dinner.

Meat probe.

Simply place the probe into the meat and use the manual to select the correct internal temperature for your preferred taste. When the tip of the probe reaches this temperature the oven switches off. It takes the guesswork out of cooking and ensures your food is never under or over cooked. Ideal for joints, encroute dishes and even a nut roast.

Keep warm.

Heat from the top and bottom elements are used to maintain a set temperature of 80C, ideal for keeping food warm until ready to serve without drying the food out.
Fan controlled defrosting.
A hygienic and gentle way to defrost food. Suitable for even the most delicate items such as cream cakes, this defrost function slowly circulates room temperature air around the food, defrosting it in less than half the usual time.

Heat and hold.

This setting enables you to programme the oven to automatically switch to the Keep warm setting after completion of baking or roasting. This option runs at 80C for 30 minutes, after which the oven automatically switches itself off.

Speedcook function. Conventional cooking.
Heat from the top and bottom elements provide traditional cooking, ideal for baking breads and cakes on one level. This function creates zoned areas of heat, hotter at the top cooler at the bottom, suitable for cooking foods of a similar avour that require slightly different oven temperatures. This function may be used with True fan Ventitherm, fan baking, conventional and Rotitherm roasting. The oven reaches the required temperature almost immediately, eliminating the need to preheat the oven. This efcient feature is ideal for cooking convenience foods or recipes such as biscuits that may quickly spread into one another.

Rotitherm roasting.

Heat produced by the top elements is circulated around the food by the fan. This clever setting gives the perfect authentic spit roast effect for meat, poultry and roasting potatoes; all the benets of a rotisserie without the mess.
Dual circuit variable grill.
Uses the inner and outer parts of the grill element to provide full width even grilling, ideal for larger portions. The heat is controllable.
Single circuit variable grill. Fan baking.
The True fan Ventitherm and base element combine together to give direct heat to the base of foods making this setting the perfect environment for baking. It is ideal for crisping the base of pizzas, quiches and cooking in dense cookware. Uses only the inner part of the grill element, ideal for smaller portions such as 2 pieces of toast. The heat is controllable and using one element is more energy efcient.

Moist fan baking.

This clever function uses the True fan Ventitherm setting whilst closing the ventilation valve therefore retaining more moisture in the oven cavity. This function is excellent for baking foods that require a moister cooking environment e.g. light uffy fatless sponges and baked soufs.

Base heat nishing.

Heat from the bottom element only. Perfect for reheating pies and pastries as it keeps the pastry crisp. It can also be used to warm plates.

Top heat browning.

A gentle heat from the top element only, ideal for browning lasagne or shepherds pie.

The healthier way to cook.
The AEG-Electrolux combination oven is the only full size multifunction single oven with steam. Steam is the chefs secret that helps them to create food that is crisp and golden while at the same time being delicious and succulent. Steam settings

Vigorous steam.

The steam generator works with a xed temperature at 96C, to deliver a constant ow of steam. Ideal for vegetables, rice and sh, it ensures that all the vitamins and nutrients are retained within the food.
Multifunction oven with steam.
Hot air and steam combine to deliver fantastic results with excellent health benets, in both taste and preservation. Restaurants have had this advantage for years and the AEG-Electrolux B98205M is the only full size oven on the market that offers multifunction cooking with three fully integrated steam functions. Food can be cooked to perfection with all the texture, colour and avour preserved. Food is crisp on the outside whilst moist and succulent on the inside, so it looks and tastes better. The steam also isolates the food cooking, so that avours do not mingle, meaning you can cook sweet and savoury at the same time. Cooking with steam is also a healthier option retaining a far higher level of nutrients, vitamins and minerals in the food reducing the need for fat and salt with the ability to give golden crispy results. The AEG-Electrolux oven evens steam cleans itself when the cooking is done.

Precise control

Gas hobs give instant heat, economy and controllability. In addition, AEG-Electroluxs special burner design produces a clean and perfect flame, giving total cooking flexibility and precise results. Our gas hobs offer a range of burner sizes to complement all cooking styles. 95852GM 75852GM

Extraction mode.

Extraction is the most efcient method of installation if you are positioning the hood on or near to an external wall and requires a ducting kit to extract the cooking vapours externally, giving a pleasant kitchen environment, which is free from cooking odours. AEG-Electrolux recommends for each cooker hood the ideal size ducting kit to ensure optimum performance. Ducting kits are available as an optional accessory.

Recirculation mode.

Precise control.
AEG-Electroluxs powerful range of cooker hoods have a wide choice of different controls so you can adjust your extraction speed to suit every kitchen need, ensuring it is a fresher, more peaceful place to cook or relax. The electronic touch controls are stylish, simple with precise settings to adjust speed levels and hood lights. The LED display indicates the extraction rate and when the lters need changing or cleaning.
The hood draws in the cooking vapours, lters the air through the charcoal lter and then re-circulates the cleaned air back into the kitchen, leaving it free from cooking odours. The majority of AEG-Electrolux cooker hoods are supplied with a long-life charcoal lter that may be washed in the dishwasher and dried in the oven. Standard charcoal lters will need replacing when indicated on the display. For those hoods that do not come with a charcoal lter, it is available as an optional accessory.

Metal grease lters.

The metal lter attracts the grease from cooking vapours, reducing odours, purifying the air and optimising performance. The lter is dishwasher-safe and never needs replacing.

Automatic sensor.

This ingenious sensor system takes away the guesswork involved in selecting an extraction level. The sensor controls the intensity of the extraction, always working at the optimum level. They detect hob heat, ambient temperature and humidity levels and ensure that the hood works at exactly the right level to rid your kitchen of odours.

Variable speed control.

Precisely controls the rate of extraction, which can be varied to suit different types of cooking, providing optimum efciency at minimal costs.
To optimise efciency and performance of the cooker hood it is important to select the correct hood with an appropriate extraction rate for your kitchen environment. To help ensure you select the correct cooker hood, the measurements in each of these boxes relates to the oor space of the kitchen.

Extraction rates.

This is the level at which the cooker hood clears cooking vapours from the kitchen environment. AEG-Electrolux cooker hoods are measured in cubic metres per hour and are in accordance with IEC standards.

For optimum wash results, AEG-Electrolux washing machines offer an outstanding range of programmes. The wool plus programme gently rocks woollens at 40C for an effective yet sensitive clean. The delicate programme is designed for mixed fabrics found in delicate clothes.

Eco wash system.

The eco wash system ensures maximum wash efciency as it prevents any loss of detergent. The eco valve ensures that all the detergent stays in the wash drum by closing the drain area completely.

Delay start.

Ensures laundry is ready exactly when required, reducing creasing and musty odours.

Aqua control.

An internal system monitors the water level to detect any possible leaks in the inlet pipe or wash drum. This completely eliminates any possibility of ooding.

Easy iron.

The easy iron option reduces the need for ironing by up to 50% through actively reducing creases in fabric caused throughout the wash and spin cycle.
Refresh programme. Sensor drying.
All our AEG-Electrolux washer dryer laundry appliances give you exceptional drying results and total control. Simply choose the required level of dryness from machine iron for slightly damp clothes to extra dry for ready-towear clothes. The machine will sense when the clothes are dried to the specied levels and automatically stop the machine. With the sensor dryer, you do not need to keep checking if your clothes are dried and you also save on energy costs and avoid over drying as well. Refresh is a quick wash programme for lightly soiled or worn once clothes which is great at removing any odours and refreshing clothes. In the refresh programme up to 3kg (15 shirts) of clothes are washed at 30 C.
Sensitive option (washers only).
Designed specically for those who are extra sensitive to dirt, dust and pollen, this programme is suitable for cotton and synthetics. The fabric is gently moved around while an extra rinse option ensures that any particles are effectively rinsed away.

Variomatic spins.

Alternating progressively faster spinning with frequent tumbling stages provides the best possible wash results with minimal creasing.
