1.2 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
Every Carlton saw chain is built with these important features; Nickel Alloy Steel All Carlton drive links, tie straps, guard links, and cutters are fabricated from special alloy steel. This specially engineered steel adds toughness, abrasion, resistance and ductility in all kinds of climates, from the heat of the tropics to the freezing cold of winter 1. Industrial Chrome Plating. All Carlton saw chain cutters are plated with hard industrial chrome. This process yields superior edge-holding qualities to other types of plating. In the field, Carlton saw chain stays sharp longer. 2. Exclusive Honed Sharp Cutters. Another Carlton exclusive, unlike the competition, every Carlton saw chain is sharpened after assembly and is ready for immediate use. Theres no need to pre-sharpen the chain before use. 3. Roto Blasting. All Carlton saw chain cutters, drive links and bumper links are roto blasted for increased tensile strength. A similar process is used on automotive leaf springs, this makes Carlton parts tougher. 4. Hypodermic Lubrication. All Carlton saw chain is injected at the rivet bearings with a hypoid lubricant to reduce bearing wear during break in. Only Carlton pre-lubes each bearing during assembly for longer chain life.
Carlton Quality Auditing. Carltons Quality Auditors are as tough as the Carlton chain. They inspect all phases of the manufacturing process to some of the tightest tolerances in the industry. There are several styles of Carlton saw chain suitable for most chain saws. Cartlon recommends that you select the cutter style that is best suited for your cutting conditions. Please use the guidelines and instructions that are stated in the saw chain manufacturers manual.

Carlton saw chain will fit most brands of chain saws and a Carlton File-O-Plate will provide proper maintenance and increase the life of your saw chain. No other tool available will increase chain life and cutter efficiency like the Carlton File-O-Plate, which duplicates the factory cutting angles and the correct depth gauge setting to maintain the self-feeding cutting action of the saw chain.

SPROCKETS
3.1 SPROCKET CLASSIFICATION
CARLTON TECHNICAL TIP: Worn sprocket rims are more difficult to detect than worn spur sprockets. Carlton strongly recommends that a new sprocket is fitted with every new saw chain, this will eliminate many complaints about chain stretch and will prolong the life of your saw chain.

SPUR SPROCKETS Carlton spur sprockets feature a unique cold punch process. During assembly, a series of splines in the bottom of the spur lock into the face of the drum to form a strong mechanical bond. As a result, our spur and drum hardness is more consistent.
POWER DRIVE SPLINE/RIM ASSEMBLIES Carlton power drive spline and rim assemblies are manufactured from wear resistant alloy steel for durability. They allow the user to change the rim when they are worn without having to replace the entire clutch drum.
RIM SPROCKETS Carlton replacement rim sprockets are preferred by professional loggers for their self-alignment, long wear life and great serviceability. Worn rim sprockets are more difficult to detect than worn spur sprockets. Carlton Company strongly recommends a new sprocket with every new saw chain. Rim sprockets are sold in packages of 10.
