Operating Instructions 1 Safety
Prior to using the appliance for the first time
Follow the Installation and connection instructions. If the appliance is delivered in the winter months when there are minus temperatures: store the washing machine at room temperature for 24 hours before using for the first time.

Correct use

The washing machine is only designed for the washing of normal domestic laundry at home. Additions or modifications to the washing machine are not permitted. Only use detergents/conditioners that are suitable for use in domestic washing machines. The washing must not contain any flammable solvent. The risk of explosion exists. Do not use the washing machine for dry cleaning. Dyes/colour removers may only be used in the washing machine, if the manufacturer of these products expressly permits this. We cannot accept liability for any damage arising.

Child safety

Keep packaging away from children. There is a risk of suffocation. Children often do not recognise the hazards associated with electrical appliances. Dont allow children to use the washing machine unsupervised. Make sure that children and pets dont climb into the drum of the washing machine. The risk of death exists.

General safety

Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. Never use the appliance when the electrical cable is damaged or the control panel, worktop or plinth area are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the appliance is openly accessible. Switch off the washing machine prior to cleaning it and carrying out maintenance. In addition, remove the power plug from the power point or if the appliance has been hard-wired switch off the cutout in the fuse box or completely remove the fuse. If operation is stopped, disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and turn off the tap. Never remove the power plug from the power point by pulling on the cable. Always pull the plug. Multiway-plugs, connectors and extension cables must not be used. Resulting overheating may constitute a fire hazard. Never wash the washing machine down with a water jet. Danger of electric shock. When using wash programmes with high temperatures the glass in the door will become hot. Do not touch it! Before emergency emptying of the appliance, before cleaning the drain pump or opening the door in an emergency, let the water cool down. Small animals can nibble on electrical cables and water hoses. This can constitute a risk of electrocution and water damage. Keep small animals away from the washing machine.

Care symbols1)

Energy-saving programme which washes at 60 C for lightly to normally soiled whites or coloureds made of cotton/linen. Programme for normally to heavily soiled whites/coloureds made of cotton/linen. Programme for cottons/linen, which is indicated for various wash temperatures. Items which according to their care label are normally washed separately at 40 C or at 60 C, can be washed together in this programme. In this way the drum capacity is better used, saving energy. Achieves the washing results of a normal 60 programme. Programme for easy-care mixed fibres and synthetics. Special programme which washes at 40 C for easy-care fabrics which after being washed using this programme need to be ironed only lightly or not at all. Gentle programme for delicate textiles such as bonded fibres, micro-fibres, synthetics, net curtains (load max. 20 to 25m2 curtains). If used together with RINSE HOLD, also suitable for fabrics with climatic membranes, e.g. outdoor clothing. Specially gentle programme for machine and hand-washable wool/silk. Separate gentle rinse (3 rinse cycles, liquid conditioner is washed in from the compartment &, gentle spin). Draining following a rinse hold. Draining and spinning, e.g. following a rinse hold, or separate spinning of handwashed cottons/linen. Special programme which washes at 30 C, approx. 30 minutes, for brief washing of e.g. worn-once, lightly soiled sports clothing or new clothes.

Before the first wash

1. Open the detergent drawer. 2. Pour approx. 1 litre of water through the detergent drawer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next programme is started and the economy valve can function properly 3. To remove any production-related residues from the drum and water tank, perform the first wash cycle without a load. Programme: COTTONS/LINEN 60, press the TIME SAVER button, add approx. 1/4 measuring cup of detergent.
Preparing and sorting washing
Preparing washing Empty the pockets. Remove foreign bodies (e.g. coins, paper clips, nails, etc.). Do up zips, button up covers to prevent damage to washing. Remove the runners from net curtains or cover them with a net or a bag. Wash delicate and small items in a net/pillowcase, e. g. net curtains, tights, small socks, handkerchiefs, bras. Important: Bras and other items containing wires should only be washed in a net bag. The wires can work loose and damage the appliance. Sorting washing By colour: Wash white and coloured washing separately. Washing can run. By temperature, type of washing and care symbol. Important: Do not wash fabrics with the G care symbol (= do not wash!) in the washing machine.

Running a wash cycle

Opening the door/loading washing
1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door. When the appliance is switched on, the DOOR and START/PAUSE indicators show whether the door can be opened:

2. Separate washing and load it loosely. Mix large and small items. Important: Do not get any washing caught between the door and the rubber seal. 3. Firmly push the door shut. Door catch must audibly click shut.
Adding detergent /conditioner
Important: Only use detergents/conditioners that are suitable for use in household washing machines. Add detergent/conditioner in accordance with the detergent/conditioner manufacturers instructions. Observe instructions on the packaging. The amount of detergent used depends on: the degree of soiling, the load size the hardness of the tap water. If the manufacturer does not make any recommendations with regard to small volumes of washing: For a half-load use a third less, and for a very small load use only the half the amount of detergent that is recommended for a full load.
Water softener should be used from water hardness range 2 (=medium). The amount of detergent used can then always be that as for hardness range 1 (=soft). Your local water company will provide you with information about water hardness in your area. 1. Pull out the detergent drawer as far as it will go. 2. Add the detergent/conditioner. 3. Push the detergent drawer in fully.

Two additional rinse cycles are carried out for the programmes ENERGY SAVING, COTTONS/LINEN, DELICATES, EASY-CARES and EASY IRON (for example in cases of over-sensitive skin).

TIME SAVER

Shortened wash programme for lightly soiled items.
Warm pre-wash before the main wash that follows automatically; with intermediate spin for COTTONS/LINEN and EASY-CARES, without intermediate spin for DELICATES.
For heavily soiled or stained washing. Stain removal agent will be rinsed into the wash at the optimum point in the programme. Can only be set for wash temperatures of 40C and upwards as stain removers only become effective at higher temperatures.

SENSITIVE

Increased effectiveness of the rinse due to the additional rinse cycle together with decreased drum movement (gentle on fabrics). Ideal when frequent washes are necessary, for example in cases of oversensitive skin.

Setting the delay timer

Using the DELAY TIMER button you can delay the start of a programme by 30 minutes (30') to a maximum of 23 hours (23h). 1. Select the programme. 2. Press the DELAY TIMER button repeatedly until the desired start delay is shown in the multi-display, e.g. 12h to delay the start of the programme by 12 hours. The DELAY TIMER indicator will illuminate. If the display is showing 23h and you press the button again, the time delay will be cancelled. 0 will appear followed by the length of the wash programme that has been set. 3. To activate the delay timer, press the START/PAUSE button. The time remaining to the start of the programme will be continuously shown (e.g. 12h, 11h, 10h,. 30' etc.).

Starting a programme

1. Check that the tap is turned on. 2. Select a programme. 3. Press the START/PAUSE button. The programme is started, or will start after the delay timer has counted down. If after pressing the START/PAUSE button E40 flashes in the multi-display, the END indicator flashes 4 times and at the same time an acoustic signal sounds 4 times, the door has not been correctly shut. Push the door firmly closed and press the START/PAUSE button again.

Programme sequence

The programme progress display shows the programme step that is currently being carried out. The multi-display shows the estimated time remaining (in minutes) until the end of the programme. The time remaining can increase or stay the same for a while during the course of the cycle as the programme adjusts itself to various conditions (e.g. type of washing and quantity, out of balance spin detection, special rinse cycle, etc.).

Interrupting a programme/adding washing
Interrupting a programme A programme can at any time be interrupted by pressing the START/ PAUSE button and resumed by pressing START/PAUSE again. To cancel a programme before it has ended, turn the programme selector to OFF. Important: Be careful of water in the appliance. Adding washing Washing can be added, as long as the DOOR indicator is illuminated green. 1. Press the START/PAUSE button. The door can be opened. 2. Close the door and press the START/PAUSE button again. The programme will continue.
End of the wash cycle/removing the washing
At the end of the programme, END lights up on the programme progress display. The door can be opened as soon as the DOOR indicator is lit green. 1. Open the loading door and remove the washing. 2. Turn the programme knob to OFF. 3. Close the water valve. 4. After washing, pull out the detergent drawer a little to enable it to dry out. Keep the loading door very slightly open so that the washing machine can air. If RINSE HOLD has been selected: After the rinse hold, END lights up on the programme progress display. The water must first be drained: Either turn the programme knob to OFF, then to DRAIN and press the START/PAUSE button (the water is drained without spinning), or turn the programme knob to OFF and then to SPIN. Change the spin speed if necessary and press the START/PAUSE button (the water is drained and the washing spun).

Overdosing

If the OVERDOSING indicator is illuminated, too much detergent was used in the previous programme. The next time you wash, observe the detergent manufacturers instructions concerning amount of detergent required, and the amount of items you wash in one load.

Child safety device

If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise direction as far as it will go.
Warning! The knob must not be depressed after being set, otherwise the child safety device is not activated. The knob must stand proud as shown in the illustration.
Deactivating the child safety device: Turn the knob in an anti-clockwise direction as far as it will go.

Cleaning and maintenance

Important! Do not use furniture care products or aggressive cleaners to clean the appliance. Wipe control panel and body with a damp cloth.

Cleaning procedure

If you plan to wash mainly at low temperature, you should run a hot programme from time to time. This will reduce any deposits and clean the appliance from the inside.
Detergent dispenser drawer
The detergent dispenser drawer should be cleaned regularly. 1. Remove the detergent dispenser drawer by pulling it firmly. 2. Remove the conditioner insert from the middle compartment. 3. Clean all parts with water. 4. Put the conditioner insert in as far as it will go, so that it is firmly in place.
5. Clean all parts of the washing machine, especially the nozzles in the top of the washing-in chamber, with a brush. 6. Insert the detergent dispenser drawer in the guide rails and push it in.

Washing drum

Rust deposits in the drum may occur due to rusting foreign bodies in the washing or tap water containing iron. Important! Do not clean the drum with acidic descaling agents, scouring agents containing chlorine or iron or steel wool. 1. Remove any rust deposits on the drum with a cleaning agent for stainless steel. 2. Run a washing cycle without any washing to clean off any cleaning agent residues. Programme: COTTONS/LINEN 60, press the TIME SAVER button, add approx. 1/4 measuring cup of detergent. 18

Door and rubber collar

Regularly check whether deposits or foreign bodies are present in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside of the glass door. Clean the glass in the door and the rubber collar regularly.

What to do if.

Remedying small faults yourself
If during use of the appliance one of the following error codes is shown in the multi-display: E10 (Problems with the water inflow), E20 (Problems with the water outflow), E40 (door open), please consult the following table. After the error has been remedied, press the START/PAUSE button. In the event of other errors (E and a number or letter): Switch the appliance off and then on again. Set the programme again. Press the START/PAUSE button. If the error appears again, please contact your local Service Force Centre, stating the error code.

If the wash result is not satisfactory
The washing is grey and there are limescale deposits in the drum Too little detergent was used. An incorrect detergent was used. Individual stains were not pre-treated. The programme or temperature was not set properly. There are grey stains on the washing Items that were soiled with ointments, fats or oils were washed using too little detergent. The wash temperature used was too low. A common cause is that conditioner in particular the type in concentrated form - has come in contact with the washing. Wash out such marks as soon as possible and exercise care when using the said conditioner. Foam can still be seen following the final rinse Modern detergents can cause foam to be created even during the final rinse. In spite of this, the washing has been sufficiently rinsed.
There are white residues on the washing What can be seen here are insoluble substances which modern detergents contain. They are not the result of insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the washing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing. Check your choice of detergent. Especially with dark colours it is advisable to use liquid detergents.
Carrying out an emergency drain
Warning! Prior to carrying out an emergency drain, switch off the washing machine and remove the power plug from the power point. Warning! The water that comes out of the emergency drain hose may be hot. There is a risk of scalding. Let the water cool before performing an emergency drain! 1. Open the plinth flap and remove it.
2. Remove the emergency drain hose.
3. Place a shallow container underneath it. Then loosen the drain plug by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction and pull it out. 4. The water will run out. If it is necessary to empty the container more than once, seal up the emergency drain hose with the drain plug while you are doing so. When the water has all drained away: 5. Insert the plug firmly into the emergency drain hose and turn it in a clockwise direction until it is firmly in place. 6. Replace the emergency drain hose into the retainer. 7. Insert the plinth flap into place and close it. 22

Drain pump

The drain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that there are no foreign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed. Paper clips, nails, etc. which may find their way into the washing machine along with the washing will remain in the drain pump housing (foreign body trap that protects the pump wheel).
Warning! Before opening the cover of the drain pump, switch off the washing machine and remove the power plug from the power point. 1. First carry out an emergency drain. 2. Place a cloth on the floor in front of the cover of the drain pump. Residual water runs out. 3. Unscrew the pump cover in an anticlockwise direction and remove it.
4. Remove foreign bodies and fluff from the pump housing and from the pump wheel.
5. Check whether the pump wheel right at the back of the pump housing can turn. (If the wheel rotates with a jerky motion, this is normal.) If the pumping wheel cannot be turned, please contact your local Service Force Centre. 6. Insert the pump cover. Insert the guides at the sides of the cover into the guide slots and tighten the cover by turning in a clockwise direction. 7. Close off the emergency drain hose and place it in the retainer. 8. Close the plinth flap. 23

Disposal 2

Packaging material The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be recycled. The plastic components are identified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities. Old appliance The symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product may not be treated as household waste. Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health, which could otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product. For more detailed information about recycling of this product, please contact your local city office, your household waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased the product. Warning: When your appliance has finished its working life, remove the plug from the mains socket. Cut off the cable and plug and dispose of them. Destroy the door lock. This prevents children from trapping themselves inside and endangering their lives.

Installing the appliance

Transporting the appliance
Warning: The washing machine is very heavy. There is a risk of injury. Exercise care when lifting the appliance. Do not lay the washing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen from the front). Electrical components may get wet. Never transport the appliance without using the transit packaging. Only remove the transit packaging when the appliance is in its place of installation. Transporting the appliance without the use of the transit packaging can cause damage to the appliance. Never lift the appliance by the door when it is open nor by the plinth. When using a sack trolley to transport the washing machine: Only use the sack trolley on the side of the appliance.
Removing the transit packaging
Important! Be sure to remove all the components of the transit packaging prior to using the appliance for the first time. Keep the transit packaging in a safe place, in case it is needed at a later date when the appliance is to be moved (e.g. moving house). 1. Open the two hose retainers located at the rear of the appliance and remove the hoses and electrical cable.
2. Remove the two hose retainers from the appliance with a strong tug.
3. Remove both plastic caps sideways.
Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 4. Use special spanner A to remove screw D and the compression spring. 5. Turn sealing cap C upside down as shown in the illustration. 6. Use sealing cap C to cap the hole.
7. Use special spanner A to remove the two screws E. 8. Use special spanner A to remove the four screws F. 9. Remove transit bar G. 10. Screw in the four screws F again. 11. Use sealing caps B to cap the two large holes. Important: Press all sealing caps B (2 items) and C (1 item) in firmly so that they snap into the rear wall.

Where to install

Important! The washing machine must not be operated in a room where there is a danger of frost. There is a risk of frost damage or adverse effect on the perfomance of the machine. Frost damage is not covered under the warranty. The surface on which the appliance is to be installed must be firm and level. Do not install the appliance on carpeted floors or soft floor coverings. The surface on which the appliance is to be installed must be clean and dry and free from grease, so that the appliance does not slide. 28

Permanent Connection

In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appliance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the required load in compliance with the current electrical regulations. The switch must not break the yellow and green earth cable at any point. This appliance complies with the requirements laid out in the EEC Directive 76/899. Voltage 240 V AC: Fuse rating 13amps See rating plate for further information. This appliance meets VDE requirements. Particular regulations of local electricity authorities must be observed. This appliance conforms to EEC Directive No. 82/499/EWG on radio interference. WARNING! Repairs to electrical appliances must only be carried out by trained personnel. Improper repairs may lead to serious risks for the user.
Connecting the appliance to the water supply
Important: This appliance must not be connected to the hot water supply. When connecting the appliance, use only new hose kits. Only connect the appliance to the drinking water supply. Rain water or water for industrial use may only be used if it fulfils the requirements of DIN1986 and DIN1988. Do not kink or crush the water inlet hose or drain hose.

Permitted water pressure

The water pressure must be at least 1 bar (=10N/cm2 =0.1MPa), and may be a maximum of 10bar (=100N/cm2 =1MPa). If more than 10bar: Connect a pressure reduction valve. If less than 1bar: Disconnect the appliance end of the inlet hose from the solenoid inlet valve and remove the flow meter. (In addition remove the filter using pointed pliers and take out the rubber gasket behind it.) Replace the filter. 31

Water inlet

A 1.35m long pressure hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is required, only hoses from the manufacturer are to be used. Your local Service Force stocks hose kits of different lengths. Sealing rings are either inserted in the plastic nuts of the threaded hose fitting or are included as spare parts. Do not use any other sealing rings. Important! All threaded hose fittings must only be tightened by hand. 1. Connect the hose with the right-angle connector to the machine. Important! Do not position the inlet hose vertically downwards. Position it to the right or the left as shown in the illustration.

Operating Instructions 1 Safety
Prior to using for the first time
Follow the Instructions for installation and connection.

Correct Use

The dishwasher is only intended for washing domestic dishes. Additions or modifications to the dishwasher are not permitted. Use only special salt, detergent and rinse aid suitable for domestic dishwashers. Do not put any solvents in the dishwasher. This could cause an explosion.

Child Safety

Keep packaging away from children. There is a risk of suffocation. Children often do not recognise the hazards associated with electrical appliances. Dont allow children to use the dishwasher unsupervised. Make sure that children and pets dont climb into the dishwasher. Could endanger life! Dishwasher detergents can cause chemical burns to the eyes, mouth and throat. Could endanger life! Comply with the safety instructions of the dishwasher detergent manufacturer. The water in the dishwasher is not for drinking. Risk of chemical burns.

General Safety

Repairs to the dishwasher are only to be carried out by qualified/authorised service engineers. When the dishwasher is not being used, switch it off and shut off the water tap. Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the cable. Always pull the plug. Ensure that the door of the dishwasher is always closed when it is not being loaded or unloaded. In this way you will avoid anybody tripping over the open door and hurting themselves. Never sit or stand on the open door. If the dishwasher is located in a room where there may be a frost, remove the connection hose from the tap after each use of the dishwasher. 4

Adding dishwasher Salt

To decalcify the water softener, it must be filled up with dishwasher salt. Use only special salt suitable for domestic dishwashers. If you do not use 3 in1 detergent, fill up with dishwasher salt: Before using the dishwasher for the first time. When the control indicator for dishwasher salt is illuminated on the control panel. 1. Open the door and remove the lower basket. 2. Unscrew the lid on the salt dispenser by turning it anti-clockwise. 3. Only when using the dishwasher for the first time: Fill the salt dispenser with water. 4. Place the funnel (supplied) over the dispenser opening. Fill the dispenser with dishwasher salt; the capacity of the dispenser is approx. 1.0-1.5 kg, depending on the size of the grains. Do not overfill the dispenser. If water overflows when filling up with dishwasher salt, this is completely harmless. 5. Clean away any salt remnants from the dispenser opening. 6. Screw the lid back on in a clockwise direction. 7. Run a dishwashing cycle after filling the salt dispenser with dishwasher salt. This will wash away salt water and salt crystals that have been spilt. Depending on the size of the salt granules, it can take several hours for the salt to dissolve in the water and for the control indicator for dishwasher salt to go out.
Filling Up with Rinse Aid
Rinse aid causes the rinse water to flow easily from the crockery leaving gleaming dishes and glassware. If you do not use 3in1 detergent, fill up with rinse aid: Before using the dishwasher for the first time. When the control indicator for rinse aid is illuminated on the control panel. Use only special rinse aid for dishwashers. 1. Open the door. The rinse aid compartment is located on the inside of the dishwasher door. 2. Press the release button on the rinse aid compartment. 3. Open the cover.
4. Pour rinse aid in slowly right up to the broken max line; this corresponds to a volume of approx. 140 ml when full. 5. Press the lid shut until it clicks into place. 6. Wipe up any spilt rinse aid with a cloth. Otherwise there will be too much foam when rinsing.
Setting the Amount of Rinse Aid Required
Only change the amount dispensed, if smears, milky spots (reduce the amount) or dried on water spots (increase the amount) can be seen on glasses and dishes. (See section If dishwashing results are not satisfactory.) The dosage can be set from 1-6. The dosage is pre-set to 4 in the factory. 1. Open the dishwasher door. 2. Press the release button on the rinse aid compartment. 3. Open the cover. 4. Set the dosage level. 5. Press the lid shut until it clicks into place. 6. If rinse aid has leaked out, wipe it away with a cloth.

Activating rinse aid inflow when 3in1 function is selected
If the 3in1 function is not selected, the rinse aid inflow is always activated. If the 3in1 function is selected due to the use of 3in1 detergent, the rinse aid inflow is deactivated. If the dishes then do not dry sufficiently, you should re-activate the rinse aid inflow (see also section Using 3in1 detergents). 1. Press the ON/OFF button. If the LED indicator of only one programme button is illuminated, this wash programme has been activated. The wash programme must be deselected: Press function buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously for approx. 2 seconds. The LED indicators of all the programme buttons that can be selected will illuminate. 2. Press function buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously and hold them down. The LED indicators for function buttons 1 to 3 will flash. 3. Press function button 2. The LED indicator for function button 2 will flash. The multi-display will indicate the current setting:

4. Pressing function button 2 activates and deactivates the rinse aid dispensing function. 5. Once the multi-display is indicating the required setting, press the ON/ OFF button. The setting is now saved.

In daily use

Loading cutlery and dishes
Sponges, cleaning cloths and any other objects that can absorb water must not be washed in the dishwasher. Plastic and Teflon-coated dishes and pans tend to retain water droplets. These dishes and pans therefore do not dry as well as those made of china and stainless steel.
For washing in the dishwasher, the following cutlery/dishes/pots and pans are not suitable: Cutlery with wooden, horn, china or mother of pearl handles Plastic items that are not heat resistant Older cutlery with cement that is sensitive to temperature Dishes or cutlery with glued parts Pewter or copper items Lead crystal glass Steel items that rust Wooden boards/platters Items made from synthetic materials are of limited suitability: Only wash stoneware in the dishwasher if it is specifically marked by the manufacturer as being dishwasher-safe. Glazed patterns may fade if washed very frequently in the dishwasher. Silver and aluminium parts have a tendency to discolour during washing. Food remains, e.g. egg white, egg yolk and mustard often cause discoloration and staining on silver. Therefore always clean food residues from silver immediately, if it is not to be washed straight after use. Glass can become dull after a large number of washes.

Before loading the dishes, you should: Remove the worst of the food residues. Soak pans with burnt-on food residues. When loading the dishes and cutlery, please note: Dishes and cutlery must not impede the rotation of the spray arms. Load bowls, cups, glasses, pans, etc. with the opening downwards so that water cannot collect in them Dishes and items of cutlery must not lie inside one another or cover one another To avoid damage to glasses, they must not touch one another Dont put small items (e.g. lids) in the baskets for the dishes, but in the cutlery basket, so that they cant fall through the holes.

Loading cutlery

Warning: Sharp knives and other items of cutlery with sharp edges must be laid in the cutlery rack or in the upper basket to avoid the risk of injury. To ensure that all items of cutlery in the cutlery basket can be reached by the water, you should: 1.Place the grid insert on the cut- 2.Place forks and spoons in the lery basket cutlery basket's grid insert with their handles pointing downwards.
For larger utensils, such as whisks, leave off one half of the cutlery grid. The cutlery basket can be opened out. Always make sure that you put your hand around both parts of the twopart handle when removing it from the dishwasher. 1. Place the cutlery basket on a table or work surface. 2. Open out the two-part handle. 3. Remove cutlery.
Loading / Unloading lower basket and upper basket
To load and unload, pull out or push in the upper and lower baskets in the middle using the handle on the front of the basket.

Pots, Pans, Large Plates

Load larger and heavily soiled dishes and pans in the lower basket. (Max. diameter for plates 29 cm).
To make it easier to load larger dishes, all rear plate rests in the lower basket can be folded down.
Cups, Glasses, Coffee Service
Load smaller, fragile crockery and long, sharp cutlery in the upper basket. Arrange items of crockery on and under the folding cup racks so that they are offset from each other and water can reach all items.
The cup racks can be folded up out of the way for tall crockery items. Lay or hang wine and brandy glasses in the slots in the cup racks.
For glasses with long stems, fold the glass rack to the right, otherwise fold it away to the left.
The row of spikes on the left of the upper basket is also in two parts and can be folded away. Spikes not folded away: place glasses, mugs etc. in the upper basket. Spikes folded away: More room for serving dishes.
Adjusting the Height of the Upper Basket

The height of the baskets can also be adjusted when they are loaded. Raising / Lowering the upper basket 1. Pull out the upper basket completely. 2. Holding the upper basket by the handle, raise it as far as it will go and then lower it vertically. The upper basket will latch into the lower or the upper position.

Adding Detergent

Detergents remove the dirt from dishes and cutlery. The detergent must be added before the cycle starts.
Only use detergent intended for domestic dishwashers. The detergent compartment is located on the inside of the door. 1. If the lid is closed: Press the release button. The lid will spring open. 2. Place the detergent in the detergent dispenser. The markings indicate the dosing levels for powder detergents: 20/30 corresponds to approx. 20/30 ml of detergent. Follow the manufacturers instructions with regard to dosing and storage. 3. Close the lid and press until it locks into place. In the case of very heavily soiled dishes, fill the adjoining compartment (1) with additional detergent. This detergent comes into use during the pre-wash cycle.

Concentrated detergents

Todays detergents for dishwashers are almost exclusively low-alkaline concentrated detergents with natural enzymes in tablet or powder form. Using 50C dishwashing cycles in conjunction with these concentrated detergents reduces pollution and is good for your dishes, as these dishwashing cycles are specially matched to the dirt-dissolving properties of the enzymes in concentrated detergents. It is for this reason that using 50 C dishwashing cycles in conjunction with concentrated detergents can achieve the same cleaning results that can otherwise only be achieved using 65 C cycles.

Detergent tablets

Detergent tablets from different manufacturers dissolve at different rates. For this reason, some detergent tablets do not attain their full cleaning power during short cycles. Therefore please use dishwashing cycles with pre-wash when using detergent tablets.

Using 3in1 detergents

These products are detergents with a combined cleaning, rinsing and salt function. When the 3in1 function is activated, the addition of special salt and rinse aid from the respective dispenser is prevented. If the salt and rinse aid dispensers are empty, this is not indicated. If you want to use 3in1 detergents, check whether these detergents are suitable for your water hardness. (Follow the manufacturers instructions.) If you want to use 3in1 products 1. Press the ON/OFF button. 2. Press the 3 IN 1 button. The button indicator lights up: 3in1 function is selected. Before the start of the dishwashing cycle put 3in1 detergent in the detergent dispenser. As the rinse aid inflow is automatically switched off when the 3in1 function is activated, it may come about because of the different quality standards in the 3in1 detergent, that the dishes do not dry sufficiently. If this happens, proceed as follows (see section Adding rinse aid): Fill up the dispenser (if this is empty) with rinse aid. Set rinse aid dosage to 2 mechanically. Activate rinse aid inflow. If you do not want to use 3in1 products any more If you want to stop using 3in1 products, please do the following: Deactivate the 3in1 function. Fill up the dispensers for salt and rinse aid again. Switch the water softener to the highest setting and perform up to three normal cycles without loading any dishes. Then set the water softener to the water hardness in your area.

Used dishes that are being stored in the dishwasher and are to be washed later.
1) The consumption values were obtained under standardised conditions. They depend on how full the baskets for the dishes are. Variations are therefore possible in practice. 2) When using this cycle the degree of water clouding determines the amount of soiling on the dishes. The length of the cycle and water and energy consumption can vary greatly depending upon the load and how dirty the dishes are. Depending upon the soiling, the temperature of the water will be automatically adjusted to between 50C and 65C. 3) When using this cycle, only load the dishwasher half full. 4) During the final rinse, the temperature is increased to 68 for 10 minutes to sanitize e.g. babies bottles, plastic chopping boards or jam jars. 5) Test programme for Test Institutes 6) This cycle does not need any detergent.

When your dishes look like this, select: an intensive programme.
a normal or energy-saving programme.
a short programme (e.g. 30 minute programme).
Starting a Dishwashing Cycle
1. Check that the spray arms can turn freely. 2. Turn the water tap on fully. 3. Close the door. 4. Press the ON/OFF button. 5. Select the desired cycle. The cycle indicator and the respective cycle stages in the cycle progress display will be illuminated. The remaining time expected for the cycle will be shown in the multi-display. The selected cycle will begin after approximately 3 seconds. The current stage of the cycle is always shown in the cycle progress display. During the dishwashing cycle, the remaining time shown in the multidisplay may be adjusted according to the size of the load, degree of soiling, etc.

Interrupting or Cancelling a dishwashing cycle
Interrupt a dishwashing cycle that is in progress if it is absolutely necessary.
Interrupting the dishwashing programme by opening the dishwasher door Hot steam may escape when the door is opened. There is a risk of scalding.
1. Open the door carefully. The dishwashing cycle will stop. 2. Close the door. The cycle will continue. Cancelling the wash programme 1. Press function buttons 1 and 2 and hold them down. The LED indicators of all the programme buttons that can be selected will illuminate. 2. Release the function buttons. The wash programme has been cancelled. 3. If you want to start a new wash programme, check whether there is any detergent in the dispenser. 4. Switch off using the ON/OFF button. Turning off the dishwasher will only interrupt a selected dishwashing cycle, not cancel it. The cycle will recommence after turning the dishwasher back on again.

Setting the Delay Timer

With the delay timer you can delay the start of a dishwashing cycle for between 1 and 19 hours. 1. Press the Delay Timer button repeatedly until the multi-display shows the desired time delay, for example 12h, if the cycle is to start in 12 hours. The Delay Timer indicator is illuminated. 2. Select dishwashing cycle. 3. The time remaining to the start of the cycle is continuously displayed (e. g. 12h, 11h, 10h, 1h etc.). To change the time delay: As long as the cycle has not yet started, you can still change the setting by pressing the DELAY TIMER button. Cancelling the time delay: Press the Delay Timer button repeatedly until the length of the selected cycle appears in the multi-display. The selected dishwashing cycle will begin immediately. To change a dishwashing cycle As long as the cycle has not yet started, you can still change the dishwashing cycle. First cancel the dishwashing cycle, then re-set the time delay, lastly select the new dishwashing cycle.
Switching Off the dishwasher
Only switch the dishwasher off when the multi-display indicates 0 for the cycle time remaining and the end of programme indicator is illuminated. With some dishwashing cycles, the drying fan continues to run even after the end of the cycle. 1. Press the ON/OFF button. All display indicators will go out. 2. Turn off the water tap. Carefully open the door. Hot steam may escape. Hot dishes are sensitive to knocks. Therefore leave the dishes to cool for about 15 minutes before removing them. You also get a better drying result.

Removing the Dishes

It is normal for the inner door and the dispensers to be damp. Empty the lower basket first, then the upper basket. This way you avoid dripping water from the upper basket onto dishes in the lower basket.

If the Dishwashing Results are not Satisfactory
The dishes are still dirty. The wrong dishwashing cycle was selected. The dishes were loaded is such a way that the dishwashing water did not reach all items. The baskets for the dishes must not be overloaded. The filters in the base of the washing compartment are dirty or incorrectly positioned. Good quality detergent was not used, or too little was used. In the case of scale deposits on the dishes: The dishwasher salt dispenser is empty or the water softening system has been incorrectly set. The drain hose is incorrectly positioned. Pollutants from the water in the dishwasher can block the jets in the spray arms. You have the option of removing the spray arms from their fixture for cleaning (see section Care and Cleaning). The dishes do not dry and are not shining. Poor quality rinse aid was used. The rinse aid dispenser is empty. There are smears, streaks, milky spots or a shiny bluish coating on glasses and dishes. Lower rinse aid dosage. There are dried water drops on the glasses and dishes. Increase rinse aid dosage. The detergent may be the cause. Contact the detergent manufacturer's customer advice centre. Disposal 2

Packaging material The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be recycled. The plastic components are identified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities. Old appliance The symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product may not be treated as household waste. Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health, which could otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product. For more detailed information about recycling of this product, please contact your local city office, your household waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased the product. Warning! When your appliance has finished its working life, remove the plug from the socket. Cut off the cable and plug and dispose of them. Break the door lock so that the door no longer shuts. This prevents children from trapping themselves inside and endangering their lives.

Notes for Test Institutes
Testing in accordance with EN 60704 must be carried out with the appliance fully loaded and using the test cycle (see Cycle Table). Tests in accordance with EN 50242 must be carried out when the salt dispenser in the water softener and the rinse aid dispenser have been filled with salt and rinse aid respectively, and using the test cycle (see Cycle Table).

Free-standing appliances

If the dishwasher is installed directly next to a cooker, a heat-insulating, non-flammable panel (laminated with aluminium foil on the side next to the cooker) must be fitted flush with the top edge of the work surface (depth 57.5 cm). If the appliance is built-in under a kitchen work surface, the worktop supplied with the dishwasher can be removed in the following way: 1. Unscrew the screws from the elbows at the rear (1). 2. Push the appliances worktop backwards about 1 cm (2).
3. Lift the worktop at the front (3) and remove it.
If the dishwasher is later used as a free-standing appliance, the work surface supplied with it must be re-mounted. The plinth on free-standing appliances is not adjustable.
Connecting the dishwasher
Connecting to the water supply
The dishwasher can be connected to cold and hot water supplies up to max. 60C. The dishwasher must not be connected to open hot water appliances or instantaneous water heaters.

Permitted water pressure

Lowest permitted water pressure: 1 bar (=10 N/cm2 =100 kPa) Highest permitted water pressure: 10 bar (=100 N/cm2 =1 MPa) Consult your plumber if the water pressure is less than 1 bar. If the water pressure is greater than 10 bar, a pressure reduction valve must be used (available from your dealer).
Connecting the inlet hose
The water inlet hose must not be kinked, crushed or entangled when it is being connected. Connect the threaded hose fitting (ISO 228-1:2000) on the water inlet hose to a tap with an external thread ( inch). The inlet hose is fitted with either a plastic or a metal nut: Only tighten the nut hand tight. Then do a visual check for water tightness. (Make sure that the tap is not dripping.) So that access to the tap in the kitchen is not restricted by the use of the dishwasher, we recommend installing an additional tap, or fitting a T-branch to the existing tap. If you need a longer water inlet hose than that supplied, the following VDE-approved complete hose sets are to be used. These are available from your local service centre.

Water drainage

Drain hose The drain hose must not be kinked, crushed or entangled. Connecting the drain hose: Maximum permitted height: 1 metre. Minimum required height: 40 cm above the bottom edge of the appliance. Extension hoses Extension hoses are available from your local Service Force Centre. To ensure that the function of the appliance is not impeded, the internal diameter of extension hoses must be 19 mm. Extension hoses must not be laid more than a maximum distance of 3 metres horizontally; the maximum permitted height for the connection for the drain hose is then 85 cm. Sink outlet connection The outlet of the drain hose ( 19 mm) fits all commonly available sink outlet types. The outer diameter of the sink outlet connection must be at least 15 mm. The drain hose must be fixed to the sink outlet connection using the hose clamp supplied. Water drainage if the dishwasher is built-in at high level If the dishwasher is installed at a high level, and the drain hose connection is less than 30 cm from the lower edge of the appliance, adapter kit ET 111099520 must be fitted by your local Service Force Centre.
Water drainage into sink (only possible with free-standing appliances) If you wish to hang the drain hose over the edge of a sink, use a detachable hose elbow. You can obtain this from Service Force by referring to spare part number ET 190. 1. Fit the elbow to the drain hose. 2. Secure the drain hose so that it cannot slide off the edge of the sink. Pass a piece of cord through the hose elbow and fix it to the wall or the tap.

Anti-flood system

For protection from water damage, the dishwasher is equipped with a anti-flood system. In the event of a fault, the safety valve in the water inlet hose immediately interrupts the supply of water to the appliance and the drain pump is activated. In this way water can neither escape nor overflow. The remaining water in the appliance is automatically pumped out.

Electrical Connection

Any electrical work required to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. WARNING - This appliance must be earthed. The manufacturer declines any responsibility should these safety measures not be observed. Before switching on make sure the electricity supply voltage is the same as that indicated on the appliance rating plate. To isolate the dishwasher from the mains, remove the mains plug. Important: The plug must still be accessible after the appliance has been installed.

Changing a fuse

The appliance is supplied with a 13amp plug fitted. In the event of having to change the fuse in the plug supplied, a 13amp ASTA approved (BS 1363A) fuse must be used. Green & Yellow Should the plug need to be replaced for any reason, proceed as described below. The wires on the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code. The wire coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow. The wire coloured blue must be connected to the terminal N or coloured black. The wire coloured brown must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured red. Upon completion there must be no cut, or stray strands of wire present and the cord clamp must be secure over the outer sheath. WARNING! A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure that, if it is necessary to cut off the plug, it is disposed of safely and not retained. 43
