GENERAL

You made a good decision by choosing a reliable and adaptable Akvaterm accumulator tank. Akvaterm Oy has been manufacturing accumulator tanks for over 20 years. Our production complies with the quality system which is monitored and recognised by Inspecta Oy. The pressure safety is ensured with pressure testing in compliance with the pressure device directive. This manual is aimed at installers, operators and customers using these accumulator tanks. When installing it is important to note that the installer fills in all necessary information in the commissioning and inspection certificate at the end of this manual. We recommend that you keep this manual in its pocket on the side of the accumulator tank so that it is always protected and close at hand.

TRANSPORT

POSITIONING

The accumulator tank should always be transported in an upright, well supported position. If the accumulator tank is transported in a horizontal position, you must take care not to damage the outer surface. Damage can be prevented by cushioning the transport platform with a sufficiently strong mineral wool plate. We recommend a hoist bracket or a forklift designed for lifting and moving the accumulator tank. Each accumulator tank is provided with a hoist bracket, the bracket can be found on the top of the accumulator tank packed in plastic. NOTE: If the hoist bracket is used, take extra care to screw it properly into the thread, all the way to the bottom of the thread!
You should follow any possible building plans which relate to this location, when the accumulator tank is positioned. It is very important to note the overall mass of the accumulator tank together with its contents, in case the floor tiles need to be reinforced. You should choose a location where connections and maintenance are easily performed. The accumulator tank can be positioned on the wall if required. There must be enough room for connections on the top of the accumulator tank. If the accumulator tank is brought to the location on its side, you must note the length of the diagonal (see figure) and the height of the installation space when lifting the accumulator tank into an upright position. The length of the diagonal is % longer than the height, depending on the accumulator tank diameter. The height of the accumulator tank or the required installation space can be altered up to 10 cm by either shortening the accumulator tank's legs or by making indents in the floor for the legs. In this case you must take care to leave enough space for the drain coupling!

INSTALLATION

OPERATION
The installation and modifications must be done by an approved professional. Please ensure that during installation there are a sufficient amount of thermometers and room for insulation when connecting pipes. After the installation you must remember: Bleeding Check that the safety valve is functioning Check the preliminary pressure in the expansion vessel Check all connections and gaskets for watertightness Check that gauges, thermostats, and safety devices are functioning When filling up the system you should remember that cold water expands when heated. Overflow pipes should be structured so that the flowing water does not cause humidity damage. System pressure must not exceed the structural pressure indicated on the accumulator tank plate. Insulation should be performed after all joints have been checked, and the device serviceability must be taken into account during insulation. Expansion vessel volume should be: When using electricity, wood, or peat: % of overall volume. When using oil or ground source heat: 5 % of the overall water volume. NOTE: When draining the system, you must take care that the accumulator tank receives unrestricted replacement air! The installation company must ensure that the operator receives the necessary operating instructions for the device. At the end of this manual, there is the commissioning and inspection certificate which the installer MUST COMPLETE after the training. We recommend that all system components are marked with, for example, clear labels so that the operator recognises them.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
If pressure does not stay even:
The fluctuation of pressure can be caused by several reasons, the most common ones below. If you find leaks or irregularities, contact your HVAC expert immediately. Akvaterm accumulator tanks do not need daily maintenance, but an annual visual inspection must be performed.

Annual inspection

All entry connections to the accumulator tank must be checked. If no irregularities are found during the inspection, record the year of inspection and the receipt on the commissioning and inspection certificate at the end of this manual. If you find leaks or irregularities, contact your HVAC expert immediately. Hatch sealing surfaces

The equipment carry a two (2) year warranty from the date of commissioning. The warranty is valid when the warranty card supplied together with the equipment (or the payment receipt) is presented, in accordance with the general terms and conditions of the engineering industry (NL 01). The filled in duplicate of the commissioning and inspection certificate must be delivered to Akvaterm Oy. The warranty covers the repair costs of damages caused to the equipment by structural, manufacturing or material faults, provided that the damages are notified to and acknowledged by the warrantor during the warranty period. The warranty does not cover faults, which have been caused by external factors, such as transport or storage, negligence or misuse, electrical or plumbing works carried out by an external operator, maintenance, repair or alteration works or other reasons beyond the control of the warrantor. The warranty does not cover the repair of faults unnecessary to the operation of the equipment, the installation or cleaning of the equipment or training for its use. The warranty does not cover indirect damages. Warranty repairs are performed free of charge. If damages occur during the warranty period, the warrantor must be notified without delay and at least within 14 days. Repairs under the warranty are carried out freeof-charge. Once a fault appears, it must be immediately, and at latest within 14 days, reported to the warrantor. The warranty is valid provided that the equipment is in normal use, the installation has been carried out by a HVAC professional and the installation has been carried out according to the manufacturers instructions. Should the equipment become the property of a new owner during the warranty period, the warrantor must be notified in writing. The warranty is valid within the European Union. The warranty expires immediately if information on the pressure tank shield has been removed or altered. NOTE: Akvaterm Oy follows the valid and tabled terms and conditions of the product liability insurance as approved by the Federation of Finnish Insurance Companies.
