Cariden MATE Integration Options for Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM and 5650 CPAM
MATE is a software package with a series of modules that facilitate tasks such as network visualization, what-if analysis (failure impacts, topology changes, forecasts, etc.) and trafc engineering. MATE provides turnkey software to support architecture, engineering, planning and operations of IP and MPLS networks. Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration and Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration provide a set of powerful network discovery and provisioning options to MATE. The MATE integration options are certied by Alcatel-Lucent (details below).
Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration
The 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) provides end-to-end unied element, network, service management in one single platform, with seamlessly integrated control plane assurance management through the 5650 CPAM. The MATE-SAM Integration option is a compelling solution for these networks because it combines the information base of SAM and CPAM with the analytic tools provided by Cariden MATE.
Through the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM interface MATE can quickly and cost-effectively discover the topology, measure the trafc, and perform Trafc Engineering across an Alcatel-Lucent Service Router network.
The advantages of MATEs Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration option include: Accurate real-time information about the network is immediately available to MATE; Adds no additional devices or software polling the network; A eld-proven, Alcatel-Lucent certied solution that is easy to deploy and use; Commitments from Alcatel-Lucent and Cariden to keep the technology up-to-date.
The Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration option is available with Cariden MATE Visualization, MATE Simulation products for IGP and MPLS protocols, and MATE Deployment. It replaces MATEs standard SNMP and conguration parsing modules to improve efciency of network discovery and provisioning, and to take advantage of added features of the 5620 SAM Server.
Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration
The 5650 Control Plane Assurance Manager (CPAM) is an IP/MPLS control plane management solution. It enables service providers to assure network and service availability against control plane congurations mistakes and malfunctions using misconguration detection and proactive alarms. It also reduces troubleshooting delays and allows service providers to scale their IP/MPLS based operations by providing simple graphical tools that pinpoint path changes over time and highlights all nodes involved in IP and LSP paths, even across a multi-vendor core.
The advantages of MATEs Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration option include: Accurate information about multi-vendor network topology is immediately available to MATE; Real-time notication of network changes trigger immediate MATE analysis and prognosis; Event-driven analysis based on CPAM real-time updates is more scalable than regular polling of the network; A eld-proven, Alcatel-Lucent certied solution that is easy to deploy and use; Commitments from Alcatel-Lucent and Cariden to keep the technology up-to-date. The Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration option is available with the Cariden MATE Collector used for network discovery. CPAM provides MATE with a multi-vendor source for IGP topology, and offers real-time notication of network changes which in turn can trigger automated analysis, prediction and reporting by MATE. Complete MPLS routing information can also be obtained for multi-vendor networks with Alcatel-only edge-routers.
Using the SAM and CPAM Integration Options with MATE:
Using the SAM and CPAM Integration options in MATE is simple and straightforward: Download, decompress and launch MATE (no special installation is required), then choose SAM Get Plan from the File menu to get the SAM interface dialog. Executing this one command retrieves all the data necessary for MATE to provide modeling, simulation and trafc engineering for your network. Special tools are provided in MATE to simplify the process of creating a visually pleasing, functional or geographic layout of your network nodes, links, and PoPs.
Capture the state of the network in one step
Alternatively, you can choose CPAM Get Plan from the File menu and gather IGP topology data from CPAM in Alcatel-only or mixed-vendor networks, and MPLS information from Alcatel-only networks (Alcatel-only edge nodes). Then, use MATE command-line capability to set cpam-change-notier to monitor network changes from CPAM, and trigger customized processes in MATE to react and report appropriately to the change(s).
MATE, 5620 SAM and 5650 CPAM complement each other in that SAM maintains accurate network information and, with MATE Visualization, you can automatically record an archive of network behavior as often as every fteen minutes. From MATEs recorded data you can create and maintain a time-sequence plot of key network parameters, generate next-day forecasts based on previous days trafc, and easily retrieve recorded network maps for any specic date and time to assist with problem analysis. CPAM brings real-time capability to this powerful toolset, allowing CPAMs control plane management capabilities to work together with MATE to orchestrate an effective response to unanticipated network changes.
Gather regular, periodic network captures with MATE for an historical summary or for individual retrieval. Trigger on real-time events from CPAM to see current and forecasted network states due to changes. In this example, MATE simulation shows that the recorded topology change will produce an increase in utilization in some circuits that will result in packets being dropped starting at 2PM the next day.
The Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration option and the Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration option are both connected to the entire set of Cariden MATE tools. Based upon notications from CPAM, you can use MATE to import topology and network trafc from SAM, do immediate what-if analysis examining various network conguration alternatives, optimize metrics and/or LSPs with MATE-TE, then create a changeover plan and deploy the changes to the SAM server using MATEs sam_deploy_plan tool. The Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Integration option and the Alcatel-Lucent 5650 CPAM Integration option for MATE are supported on Linux, Solaris, Mac/Intel and Windows platforms.
