PRECAUTIONS

Product Cleaning

Use a soft dry cloth for periodic cleaning of the product. For more severe stains, please dampen the cloth with water only. Anything else has the chance of dissolving the paint or damaging the plastic.
Be sure the temperature inside the vehicle is between +60C (+140F) and 10C (+14F) before turning your unit on.
DO NOT BLOCK VENTS OR RADIATOR PANELS.
Doing so may cause heat to build up inside and may result in fire.

Moisture Condensation

You may notice the CD playback sound wavering due to condensation. If this happens, remove the disc from the player and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate.
USE THIS PRODUCT FOR MOBILE 12V APPLICATIONS.
Use for other than its designed application may result in fire, electric shock or other injury.

Damaged Disc

Do not attempt to play cracked, warped, or damaged discs. Playing a bad disc could severely damage the playback mechanism.
DO NOT PLACE HANDS, FINGERS OR FOREIGN OBJECTS IN INSERTION SLOTS OR GAPS.
Doing so may result in personal injury or damage to the product.

Maintenance

If you have problems, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Return it to your Alpine dealer or the nearest Alpine Service Station for servicing.
Never Attempt the Following
Do not grip or pull out the disc while it is being pulled back into the player by the automatic reloading mechanism. Do not attempt to insert a disc into the unit when the unit power is off.

Correct Handling

Do not drop the disc while handling. Hold the disc so you will not leave fingerprints on the surface. Do not affix tape, paper, or gummed labels to the disc. Do not write on the disc.

CORRECT

INCORRECT

Inserting Discs

Your player accepts only one disc at a time for playback. Do not attempt to load more than one disc. Make sure the label side is facing up when you insert the disc. Error will be displayed on your player if you insert a disc incorrectly. If Error continues to be displayed even though the disc has been inserted correctly, push the RESET switch with a pointed object such as a ballpoint pen. Playing a disc while driving on a very bumpy road may result in skips, but this will not scratch the disc or damage the player.

Disc Cleaning

Fingerprints, dust, or soil on the surface of the disc could cause the CD player to skip. For routine cleaning, wipe the playing surface with a clean, soft cloth from the centre of the disc to the outer edge. If the surface is heavily soiled, dampen a clean, soft cloth in a solution of mild neutral detergent before cleaning the disc.

Mixing bass sound to the rear channel (REAR MIX)
In most installations, the centre speaker must be placed directly between the front passenger and driver. Using this function, the centre channel information is distributed to the left and right speakers. This creates an acoustic image simulating a centre speaker directly in front of each listener. Adjusting the centre width in PL II MUSIC (see Using the Pro Logic II Mode, page 51), makes this function ineffective. Avoid stopping, pausing, switching the disc, cueing, fast-forwarding or switching the audio channel of this unit while making this adjustment. The setting is cancelled if the Decode mode is switched.
Check that Defeat mode is off (page 22). Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds. Select the Multi CH setup mode by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the Multi CH setup mode. Select the BI-PHANTOM mode by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the BIPHANTOM mode. Select the BI-PHANTOM ON/OFF by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the BI-PHANTOM ON/OFF.

* Depending on the input signal, sound effect may not be obtained.
Press MENU. Touch the GlideTouch bar, select AP Preset Mode by sliding it to the left or right, then press GlideTouch bar. Touch the GlideTouch bar, select the preset number (1 through 6) by sliding it to the left or right, then press and hold the GlideTouch bar for at least 2 seconds to store the adjusted contents.

Linear PCM Setting

The output when playing discs recorded in linear PCM can be set to 2 or 3 channels.
Check that Defeat mode is off (page 22).
Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.
Select the DVD Level mode by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the DVD Level mode.
Select the PCM MODE by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the PCM MODE. Select the desired mode by sliding your finger on the GlideTouch bar to the left or right. Press the GlideTouch bar under the desired mode.
2CH OUTPUT: 2ch output (L/R) 3CH OUTPUT: 3ch output (L/R/CENTER)
This function is operable only when Defeat is set to OFF. The stored contents will not be deleted even when battery power cord is detached.
Getting out the Preset Memory

Touch the GlideTouch bar, and select a preset number (1 through 6) you wish to recall by sliding it to the left or right, then press the GlideTouch bar.
It takes a few moment to get out the preset memory.
