ARRANGE THE WIRING SO IT IS NOT CRIMPED OR PINCHED. Route the cables and wiring so as not to be crimped by moving parts or make contact with sharp or pointed spots which might damage the wiring. Failure to do so may cause failure of unit or vehicle. DO NOT RAISE THE VOLUME EXCESSIVELY. Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear outside noises while driving. Driving while unable to hear outside noises could be the cause of accident. DO NOT USE THIS EQUIPMENT FOR PURPOSES OTHER THAN STATED FOR THE VEHICLE. Operation

Screen Display ON/OFF Press the POWER button. To turn off the POWER, press the POWER button again. Notes: If properly connected, the monitors main POWER will turn off when the vehicles ignition switch is off. If the main power lamp illuminates in the STAND BY mode, the vehicles battery may be discharged. On Screen Display Operating the monitor functions will be displayed On Screen for 3 seconds. Adjusting the Volume Adjust the volume level by pressing the DOWN ( ) or UP ( ) button. Mode switching Press the SELECT button. Each press of the button will cycle through the modes as follows:

Adjust by pressing the DOWN ( ) or UP ( ) button. BRIGHT: Adjust the brightness of the picture. COLOR: Change the color balance of the picture. Note: The color adjustment is disabled when using the RGB connection or if TV mode selected. TINT: Adjust the tint of the picture. Note: The color adjustment is disabled when using the RGB connection or if TV mode selected. DIMMER: AUTO: Backlighting of the monitor adjusts automatically to the ambient light available inside the vehicle. LOW: Backlighting is set to its lowest level. MAX: Backlighting is set to its maximum level. DIMMER LEVEL: Adjust the backlighting output level. DISPLAY MODE: WIDE: Expands a normal broadcast picture to fit the entire screen. CINEMA: Displays a widescreen formatted picture (16:9) to fit the entire screen. ZOOM: Displays a normal broadcast picture to fit the entire screen by cropping the left and right video information. NORMAL: Displays a normal broadcast picture without modification. Black stripes will appear at left and right of the screen. SOUND OUT MONITOR: Outputs sound through the built-in speakers. HEADPHONES: Outputs sound to headphones if connected. After completing adjustments, press and hold the SELECT button for at least 1 sec. Notes: After turning the system off, a slight ghost of the image will remain temporarily. This is an effect peculiar to LCD technology and is normal. Under cold temperature conditions, the screen may lose contrast temporarily. After a short warm-up period, it will return to normal. It is normal for a very small number of the screens pixels to be off. Even under the very high precision manufacturing conditions, this fact is unavoidable.

In Case of Difficulty

If you encounter a problem, please review the item in the following check list. This guide will help you isolate the problem if the unit is at fault. Otherwise, make sure the rest of your system is properly connected or consult your authorized Alpine dealer. Symptom No function or display. Cause Car's ignition is off. No fuse or blown fuse. Incorrect connections. Vehicle's battery is weak. Unclear picture display. No picture display. Fluorescent tube is exhausted. Brightness control is set for minimum brightness control. Incorrect setting of the VCR mode. Protective circuit is on because of high temperature. Incorrect or open connection with the Monitor, AV Interface unit. Picture colour is poor. Spots or dotted lines/stripes appear. * Brightness/Colour/Tint control are not set to the proper positions. Caused by neon signs, high-voltage power lines, CB transmitter, other vehicle's ignition plugs, etc. Turn the ignition on. Check the cause and replace the fuse. Check connection and remedy. Check the voltage of vehicle's battery. Replace the fluorescent tube*. Adjust the brightness. Switch to the correct mode. Wait until the temperature inside the vehicle comes down to the operating temperature range (45C). Check the connection and remedy. Check each control. Change the location of your vehicle. Solution

The fluorescent tube replacement is not free of charge even within the warranty period, for the tube is an article of consumption.

Installation

Installing the Monitor
Caution: Do not install the monitor near the air bag system in front passenger's seat. Assemble the supplied bracket and mount the monitor temporarily. Note: Always use the supplied bracket or equivalent. Verify the installation location. Select a flat surface and temporarily mount the unit. Use adhesive tape, etc. Notes: Mounting hints Top of the monitor does not exceed the top of the dash when viewed from the driver's seat. Mounting surface is stable. Monitor can be angled for easy viewing. In a vehicle with a front passenger air bag, do not install the unit where it will interfere with the operation of the system. If the surface of the dash board is finished with other than plastic (true leather, wooden panel, cloth covered panel, etc.), there will be some damage if the bracket is removed. Remove the monitor from the bracket.

Peel the protective paper from the double-stick tape on bracket's base. Clean the mounting location with the cleaner supplied. Notes: Warm the mounting location with a dryer, etc. and then place the bracket into position. Do not apply force or moisture for 24 hours after installation. If the bracket is not attached securely with just the tape, use the supplied screws to complete the installation. 5: If the mounting surface is curved slightly, reform the base to fit to its shape. Connect the monitor and the AV Interface unit. Insert the connector of the AV Interface Unit into the AV Interface connector of the monitor until a click is heard. Mount the monitor on the bracket. Slide the mounting foot into the bracket on the monitor. Secure the monitor by tightening the locking collar. Dress the monitor's cable using the cord clamp provided. Adjust the height and angle of the monitor for easy visibility. Determine the height and angle. Tighten the height and angle adjusting screws to secure the monitor. Installing AV Interface Unit This Unit can be placed inside the trunk, on the kick panel of the front passenger's seat or underdash. However, to avoid unnecessary signal wiring, it is better to mount the Unit as close as possible to the Display. DO NOT MOUNT THE UNIT IN LOCATIONS THAT WILL BE IN THE VICINITY OF MOISTURE OR EXTREME HEAT (such as the engine compartment). Velcro Tape Mounting: This installation method is suggested when the mounting location does not permit drilling. USE THIS METHOD ONLY WHEN THE UNIT IS MOUNTED ON A HORIZONTAL SURFACE. NEVER MOUNT A UNIT UPSIDE-DOWN USING THE VELCRO TAPE. 1. Remove the adhesive protective paper from one side of the Velcro tape. 2. Attach the exposed adhesive side to the underside of the Unit, in a central location. Do not cover the serial number. 3. Make sure the mounting location is clean, dry and free from contaminants. 4. Remove the protective strip from the other side of the Velcro pad. 5. Press the unit onto its mounting location. Cautions Make connections correctly. Improper connections may cause a fire or operation failure. 9 Parking brake lead (Yellow/Blue) Connect this lead to the parking brake lead powered when parking brake is pulled. 23 Remote control output lead (White/Brown) To remote control input lead of ALPINE product used in combination. 4 ACC power lead (Red) To ACC power lead powered when engine key position is ACC. 5 Fuse (5A) 6 Ground lead (Black) Connect the lead to a good chassis ground on the vehicle. We at ALPINE hope that your new NVE-N099P will give you many years of enjoyment. In case of problems when installing your unit, please contact your authorized ALPINE dealer. BEFORE WIRING, DISCONNECT THE CABLE FROM THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or injury due to electrical shorts. DO NOT ALLOW CABLES TO BECOME ENTANGLED IN SURROUNDING OBJECTS. Arrange wiring and cables in compliance with the manual to prevent obstructions when driving. Cables or wiring that obstruct or hang up on places such as the steering wheel, shift lever, brake pedals, etc. can be extremely hazardous. DO NOT SPLICE INTO ELECTRICAL CABLES. Never cut away cable insulation to supply power to other equipment. Doing so will exceed the current carrying capacity of the wire and result in fire or electric shock. Bolts or nuts used for the brake or steering systems (or any other safety-related system), or tanks should NEVER be used for installations or ground connections. Using such parts could disable control of the vehicle and cause fire etc. DO NOT INSTALL THE MONITOR NEAR THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG. If the unit is not installed correctly the air bag may not function correctly and when triggered the air bag may cause the monitor to spring upwards causing an accident and injuries. HAVE THE WIRING AND INSTALLATION DONE BY EXPERTS. The wiring and installation of this unit requires special technical skill and experience. To ensure safety, always contact the dealer where you purchased this product to have the work done. USE SPECIFIED ACCESSORY PARTS AND INSTALL THEM SECURELY. Precautions IMPORTANT

Please record the serial number of your unit in the space provided on the back cover of Owners Manual and keep it as a permanent record. The serial number plate is located on the bottom of the unit. For installation of the main unit, avoid areas with a high incidence of dust or moisture. Installing the unit in such locations may result in contamination of the DVD ROM making it unreadable. Do not install the navigation system near a CD player that may interfere with GPS signal reception. The optimum locations for installing the GPS aerial are: on the dashboard where no metal piece (such as the defogger wire or aerial wire) is located on the windshield. where no metal cover is located. Route the Speed Pulse Sensor cable away from the audio cables in order to avoid picking up noises.

Mounting the aerial inside the vehicle. 1. Clean the mounting location. 2. Put on the aerial mounting plate. 3. Mount the aerial.

Park the vehicle in a safe and level location.
Apply the brake and remove the ignition key. Mount the aerial on the roof. Clean dust and oil at the mounting location and mount the aerial.

Aerial

Notes: Mount the aerial on a flat plane of the dash board or rear tray. Some thermal reflection type or thermal absorption type glass may interrupt high frequency waves. If reception is poor with the aerial installed inside the car, try to mount the aerial outside the car.

Routing the aerial cable. 1. Route the cable using the provided cable clamps to take up the cables slack. 2. Use the waterproof pad when running the cable under the vehicles rubber gasket. 3. Attach the cable at several points using the remaining cable clamps.
Notes: The magnet of the aerial is very strong. Proceed cautiously to prevent any damage to the vehicles body. Keep the magnet away from articles susceptible to magnetic fields such as credit cards, watches, etc. Do not paint the aerial. Reception sensitivity may be decreased.

2. Connections

Disconnect the battery () terminal.
Wrap electrical tape around end of leads not used.
Note: Some vehicles contain a vehicle control computer etc. in this case, contents of the computer memory may be erased when the battery () lead is disconnected.
Cut terminal leads as required, and attach the solderless connectors to the leads.
Note: For leads which need branching to the speed sensor, dimmer, parking brake, etc., use the solderless connectors.
Connect the battery () terminal and turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position. Check to see if operation can be performed properly. (Is the power turned on? Is the illumination turned on?) You can check the language selection menu with the monitor. (Refer to the Owners Manual for details.) Go to step 6 after checking is completed.

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position to turn off the power after completion of the check.
Navigation side lead Stopper
Pull out the ignition key and remove the battery terminal () again to begin installation procedure.
Connect the power lead to this unit. Insert until a click sound is heard.

4. Mounting

Note: The main unit must be mounted within 5 degrees of the horizontal plane, left to right, and 30 degrees of the horizontal plane, back to front.
Attach the unit on the rear tray. Attach the unit securely with hex bolts (M650) 4, flanged hex nuts (M6) 7, spring washers (M6) 6, and wing nuts (M6) 8. Continued to step 5 "Securing leads, etc."

Less than 30

a When mounting using Velcro fastener
Place Velcro fasteners. Place two pieces of Velcro fasteners onto the mounting surface. The rough side should be facing the navigation unit. Press the Navigation unit onto the Velcro fastener at the mounting position. Remove the backing to the adhesive on the Velcro strips. Press the Navigation unit onto the mounting location. Continued to the step 5 "Securing leads, etc."

a When mounting the unit directly on the floor
Mount the brackets 1 on the unit. Mount the brackets at both sides of the unit with screws with double washer (M48) 3.
Depending on the locations of the mounting screw holes, the mounting brackets (for the left and right) can be used on either side. 1

3 Velcro fasteners

a When mounting on the rear tray

Mount the unit on the floor. Mount the unit on the floor with flanged selftapping screws (M515) 5 and spring washers (M6) 6. Warning: Do not damage pipe or wiring when drilling holes.
Continued to step 5 "Securing leads, etc."
Depending on the locations of the mounting screw holes, the mounting brackets (for the left and right) can be used on either side.
a When mounting with floor base brackets
Mount the brackets 1. Mount the brackets 1 at both sides of the unit with screws with double washer (M48) 3.
Cut the carpet in "x" shape with a cutter and insert the floor bases 2 from under side of the carpet. 2
Mount the unit on the carpet with spring washers (M6) 6 and wing nuts (M6) 8. Continued to step 5 "Securing leads, etc."
Determine mounting position of the floor bases 2 for placement under the carpet.
Securing leads, etc. Make sure leads are not pinched by moving parts such as the seat rail, etc. Also check for damaged from sharp edges or protrusion. Connect the battery () terminal.

5. Confirmation

Turn on the engine key. Make sure the unit is operating correctly by referring to the Owners Manual.
a Remote control holder mounting method
If the remote control is in direct sunlight, remove it from the holder and keep it in the glove box. When the holder cannot be mounted securely with double-sided adhesive tape !, mount it by using screws ".

Make sure all factory components such as the brake lamps, etc. work correctly.
Double-sided adhesive tape. (Before attaching the tape, make sure the mounting location is free from dust or dirt.)

1. Clean the window surface to which you wish to attach the film antenna. 2. Spray the window glass with detergent solution (approximately 500 ml. water and one or two drops of synthetic detergent) thoroughly. 3. Remove the clear sheet from the adhesive side of film antenna, then attach it to the window. When attaching the film, be sure to break any trapped air bubbles using the supplied work spatula. Wipe off the moisture with paper, etc., being careful not to move the film antenna.
Keep the metallic part of the film antenna within 25 mm of the ceramic line when attaching. Do not place the metallic part of film antenna on the ceramic line.
Installing the antenna cable

Power connection

Attach the power connection to the antenna by aligning the two protrusions of the case with the 8 mark of the film. Remove the clear sheet from the inner-facing side of film antenna and the moisture protection sheet on the metallic part of the film antenna.

To Antenna Receptacle

1 Film Antenna 2 Ground Connector
Connect this lead to a good chassis ground on the vehicle. Attach the Ground connector to the ground plate after removing the protective paper.

3 Ground Plate

Remove the protective paper and attach to a bare metal chassis part of your vehicle. Before attaching, clean the surface.
4 JASO Antenna Plug 5 JASO/ISO Antenna Adaptor (Included)
Notes: Be sure to install the antenna cable only after the film has entirely dried. Ensure to follow the instructions below to avoid poor reception. Fix the Ground connector to a bare metal chassis part of your vehicle securely using the ground plate. Install the cable securely after attaching to a bare metal chassis part of your vehicle with the included cable clamps. Attach the power connection to the film securely.
