SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
I. Read Instructions - All the safety and operat ing instructions should be read before the CD Player is operated. The safety and operating instructions should be saved for future reference. 2. eed Warnings - All warnings on the CD H Player and in the operating instructions should be adhered to. 3. ater and Moisture - The player should not W be used near water - for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, laundry ub, in a wet t basement or near a swimming pool, etc. 4. entilation - The CD Player should be situated V so that its location or position does not inter fere with its proper ventilation. For example, the CD player should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings; or, placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings. 5. eat - The CD player should be situated H away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 6. ower Sources - The CD player should be P connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the CD Player. 7. is set. The CUE button can be held down to momentarily play the CD. When you release the CUE button it instantly returns to the CUE POINT. You can also tap the CUE button to create a BOP EFFECT (for definition of BOP EFFECT, see page 25). 18. TAP/BPM BUTTON - This button is used to override and manually set a tracks BPM. Occasionally the built-in BPM meter may not function as desired. This button allows you to override the internal beat clock and manually set a tracks BPMs. To manually set the BPMs; tap this button a few times to a tracks heavy down beat, the unit will automatically calculate your tapping and translate it into a tracks BPM. The BPM readout is then displayed in the LCD (21). To return to the automatic BPM counter, press and hold down the button for at least 2 seconds and then release. 19. SEARCH BUTTONS This search button allows you to quickly scan backwards through a track. This search button allows you to quickly scan forwards through a track. 20. TRACK select Buttons This button is used to select a track. Tapping this button will forward skip to the next track, holding down this button will rapidly forward skip through the tracks. +10 TRACK SKIP - This button allows you to skip ahead by 10 tracks. Example: if you are at Track #1, pressing this button will skip you to Track #11, press the button again, it will skip to Track #21. If there are not that many tracks, it will go back to Track #1. This button is used to select a track. Tapping this button will back skip on track, holding down this button will rapidly back skip through the tracks. 21. LCD DISPLAY - This high quality LCD display indicates all the functions, as they are occurring. This display is viewable at several comfortable angles (see page 8). The display ICONS will be explained in the section D.

22. OURCE SELECTOR SWITCH - These S switches are used to select the input source assigned to each channel. Each channel may only be assigned one input source at a time. 23. AUX INPUT - This Aux input is for the use of a Mp3 player. Input volume will be controlled by the channel two fader. 24. Channel Gain Control - This adjustment is used to adjust an audio source signal input gain for a channel. Never use the gain control to adjust output volume. Setting the gain level properly will ensure a clean output signal. To properly set the gain level controls: 1. Be sure the Master Volume Con- trol (33) is set to level 4. 2. Set the Channel Fader (27) to level 8. 3. Begin playback on an audio source connected to the channel you are adjusting. 4. Use the Gain Control (24) to adjust an average output volume of +4 dB.

trol (33). 40. RCA MASTER Outputs - The Master Output includes a pair XLR Balanced Jacks (37) as well as a pair of RCA Unbalanced Jacks. The RCA jacks send a low current unbalanced output signal. These jacks should only be used for shorter cable runs to signal processors or looping to another mixer. For cable runs greater than 15 feet use the XLR Balanced Jacks (37). 41. LINE 1 INPUT JACKS - Do not connect turntables to these jacks! CD players, Tape Decks and other line level instruments may be connected to these jacks. The red colored RCA jack represents the right channel input and the white represents the left channel input. Input volume will be controlled by channel one fader. The channel Source Selector Switch (22) must be in the "Line 1" position, to monitor any source connected to these jacks. 42. LINE 2 INPUT JACKS - Do not connect turntables to these jacks! CD players, Tape Decks and other line level instruments may be connected to these jacks. The red colored RCA jack represents the right channel input and the white represents the left channel input. Input volume will be controlled by channel two fader. The channel Source Selector Switch (22) must be in the "Line 2" position, to monitor any source connected to these jacks. 43. Microphone - This combo jack will accept a standard 1/4 plug or XLR 3-pin balanced male plug. The volume output level for this microphone will be controlled by the MIC VOLUME CONTROL KNOB (34). Note: We recommend that you use a 500-600ohm microphone for the best sound quality. 44. POWER BUTTON - This button is used to turn your units power on and off. 45. Voltage Selector - Because power supplies vary from location to location we have incorporated a selectable voltage switch. This switch can select a voltage input of 115v~60Hz or 230v~50/60Hz. Always disconnect the power
plug before changing the voltage. Dual Voltage models only
46.POWER CONNECTOR - This connection is used to connect your main power. Be sure that your local power matches the units required power. NEVER REMOVE THE GROUND PRONG FROM THE POWER CABLE, DOING SO MAY RESULT IN IMPROPER OPERATION.

47. PLAY/PAUSE Indicator - Either the play or pause indicator will glow depending which mode you are in. 48.CUE Indicator - This indicator will glow when the unit is in CUE mode and will flash every time a new CUE POINT is set. 49.Single indicator - This indicates that the CD drive is in single play mode, the track will play once and return to CUE mode. If the single indicator is not on the unit is in continuous mode. In continuous mode the drive will play all the remaining tracks on the disc until you stop play or power is interrupted. 50.Mp3 indicator - This will indicate that a Mp3 disc is loaded in the drive. 51.Time bar indicator - This bar gives a visual approximation of a track's or disc's time This bar will begin to flash when a track is ending. The flashing bar is great reminder, that time is running out to get that next track ready to go. 52. Loop - This icon will flash when you are in loop mode. This icon will glow when a loop has been created but is not actively playing. 53. RELOOP indicator - Appears when LOOP is engaged or ready to be engaged. 54. PITCH INDICATOR - Indicator will light up when the Pitch is activated. 55. PITCH/BPM meter - This meter will display the pitch percentage applied by the PITCH SLIDER (5). 56. Character display - This will display the
name of the track and album when a Mp3 disc is loaded.
57. TIME METERS - These indicators will detail the current Minutes, Seconds, and Frames. The meter will display either the elapse, total, or remaining time of a track or the entire disc. The display time will depend on the selected time function. The selected time function will be displayed above the TIME METER as either Remaining track time or Elapsed track name. 58.total/remain indicator - When total is indicated in the LCD DISPLAY (21) the time described in the LCD (21) will define the total disc remaining time. When REMAIN is indicated in the LCD DISPLAY (21) the time described in the LCD will define the current track's remaining time. 59. Auto Bpm - This will indicate that the AUTO BPM counter is active. Press and hold the TAP/ BPM BUTTON (18) for 1 sec. to turn the Auto BPM function on and off. 60. Auto cue - This will indicate if the Auto Cue is on or off. Press and hold the SGL/CTN (3) for 1 sec. to turn the Auto Cue function on and off. 61.folder/track indicator - This indicator shows you if you are looking at the track number or the folder number. 62.Track/folder Display - This indicator describes which track or folder is currently cued or is playing.

1. Loading/EJECTING discs
BASIC OPERATIONS
The CK 1000Mp3 can only play 3 inch and regular 5 inch CDs. When loading a CD into the player always hold the disc by it edge). Load the disc label side up and never touch the signal surface (the glossy side). To remove a disc from the player press the EJECT BUTTON (1), see Figure 7. CAUTION: NEVER attempt to load any other objects besides 3" and 5" CDs. NEVER attempt to load more than one disc at a time. Doing so may result in sever damage to your unit. Do not force the transport tray open or close when the power is off, this may damage the drive system.

2.Selecting Tracks
Select a desired track by using the TRACK Buttons (20). Tapping the TRACK Buttons (20) once will select either the next higher or lower track. You may hold down the TRACK Buttons (20) to change tracks continuously at a faster speed. If you are using the TRACK Buttons (20) to select a new track during playback (a track is already in play mode) the new track you selected will immediately begin playback as soon as the search operation is completed.

3.STARTING PLAYBACK - Figure 10
Load an audio CD as described on page 17 (LOADING/EJECTING DISCS). Pressing the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) with an audio CD loaded will immediately start playback. The PLAY (47) indicator will glow as soon as playback begins. The point at which playback starts (cue point) will automatically be stored in the memory as the cue point. The unit will return to this cue point (the point at which playback started) when the CUE button (17) is pressed.
4. Auto cue
This function will automatically set a cue point to the first audio source when a CD is loaded. The first set cue point will always be the beginning of track 1. If a new track is selected before the PLAY BUTTON (15) is pressed, a new cue point will be set to reflect the new starting point.
5.Stopping Playback - Figures 10 & 11

Stopping playback will not stop the drive mechanism, but merely pause or cue the track, this functions allows the unit to begin play instantly. The drive mechanism will only stop if a disc is ejected or the unit has gone in to sleep mode. There are two ways to stop (pause) playback: 1)Press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) during playback. This will pause play back at the exact same point the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) was pressed. 2)Press the CUE button (17) during playback. This will pause playback and return the track to the last set cue point.
6. Pausing - Figure 10
This function pauses playback at the exact same point the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) was pressed. Pressing the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) will switch between play and pause modes. When the unit is in pause mode the PAUSE indicator (47) in the LCD DISPLAY (21) will glow. The PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) LED will also begin to flash repeatedly.
7. Frame search

This feature allows you to scroll through a track frame by frame, allowing you to find and set a starting cue or loop point. To use the scroll function you must first be in Pause Mode or Cue Mode. Once you are in Pause or Cue mode, turn the jog wheel (12) to scroll through the track (Figure 12). Turning the wheel in a clockwise direction will advance the frame search and turning the wheel in a counter-clockwise direction rewinds the frame search. When you use the jog wheel (12) the monitor (headphone level) function allows you to here what you are scrolling through. Once you reach your desired starting point you can set a cue (starting) point by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) as in Figure 10. Pressing the CUE button (17) as in Figure 11 will now return you to the point you just set.

8. SETTING A CUE POINT
A cue point is the exact point playback will begin when the PLAY/PAUSE button (15) is pressed. You may set your cue points anywhere on a disc or in a track. There are two (2) ways to set and create a CUE point as detailed in figures 13 and 14.
1)You may press the IN Button (14) on the fly (while the disc is playing). This will set a CUE Point without music interruption. Pressing the CUE Button (17) will now return you to the same point that you pressed the IN Button (14).

2)You may also use the Jog wheel (12) to set a cue point. While a disc is in PAUSE or CUE mode, use the Jog wheel (12) to scroll through a track and find your desired starting point. Once you have found your desired CUE point press the Play button (15) to set your cue point. Pressing the cue Button (17) will now return you to this exact point.

3) You may also use the SEARCH BUTTONS to set a cue point. While a disc is in PAUSE or CUE mode, use the SEARCH BUTTONS to scan through a track to find your desired starting point. Once you have found your desired position press the PLAY BUTTON to set your cue point. Pressing the CUE BUTTON will now return you to this exact point.

9. Creating and playing a Seamless Loop
A seamless loop is a sound loop that plays continuously without sound interruption. You can use this loop to create dramatic effect in your mixing. This loop has no time limit and you could actually loop the entire length of disc. You create a seamless loop between two continuous points of a disc.
1)Press PLAY/PAUSE button (15) to activate playback mode

2)Press the IN Button (14). This will set the starting point of the SEAMLESS LOOP. The IN Button (14) LED will light.

3)Press the OUT Button (13) to set the ending point for your LOOP (Figure 17). The IN Button (14) and OUT Button (13) LEDs will immediately begin to flash, indicating the SEAMLES LOOP mode has been activated.
LCD LOOP INDICATORS - During a aeamless loop, the loop indicator (52) and REloop indicator (53) will turn on in the LCD DISPLAY (21) indicating a loop is active.

Exiting a loop - To exit a SEAMLESS LOOP, press the OUT
Button (13). The IN Button (14) and OUT Button (13) LEDs will remain lit,. Music playback will resume normal play. The IN Button (14) and OUT Button (13) LEDs will remain lit to remind you that a loop is in memory.

Effects
BOP Effect: The Bop Effect is a stutter effect that is similar to turntable
scratching. You can use this effect to create tricks in your mixing.

SCRATCH EFFECT (16): The Scratch Effect simulates real time turntable scratching. When the Scratch Effect is activated the SCRATCH LED will light up. Once the Scratch Effect has been activated the jog wheel (12) may be used in the same fashion a turntable platter is used. Use the jog wheel (12) to simulate the scratch motion on a turntable platter and to manipulate playback.

Use this function to access the different folders (files) located on your Mp3 disc. 1) Press the Folder BUTTON (2) so that the FOLDER LED lights up. The artist and song title should appear in the CHARACTER DISPLAY (56) and the Folder number will appear in the FOLDER INDICATOR (61).

RELAY (FLIP-FLOP)
This feature is a kind of auto pilot. When you are using the CK 1000Mp3, you can have one player begin playback when the other ends. You can Flip-Flop single tracks, the entire disc, or a combination of the two. To RElay single tracks: 2)Set the mixers crossfader to the center position, and press the RELAY Button (28). 3)Set CD players to playback in single mode, SINGLE (49) should be indicated in the LCD (21). 4) Load your two players with audio discs. 5) After they have both cued, press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (15) on one player to begin playback. 6) After the first players single track has ended the second players track will immediately begin playback. 7) RELAY will continue until you stop it or power is interrupted. To Relay (Flip-Flop) entire CDs: Be sure your players are both in continuous play mode, make sure single mode (49) does not appear in the LCDs (21) of both players. Follow all directions for single track RELAY above. When one players disc ends the other player will immediately begin playback.
Note: You may combine RELAY single and continuous playback modes by selecting either single or continuous playback on your units.

The American Audio CK-1000 MP3 Professional MP3/CD Player features an integrated mixer and is a cost effective all-in-one DJ console to suit the needs of the small venue owner mobile DJ or home DJ. The CK-1000 MP3 features 2 decks and an integrated 2-channel mixer with balanced XLR outputs and S/PDIF digital output. Also present are additional line inputs mic input and an auxiliary input.Two large control wheels trigger the scratch effect and the decks distinguish between MP3-CD CD-R and standard audio CD formats. All the features of a traditional mixer are present and a separate auxiliary input on the front panel allows you to easily connect an MP3 player device.
