GB OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS POWERLINE 4 TRAVELLER
Fast charger with discharge option for 1-4 nickel-cadmium (NiCd) or nickel-metalhydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries with sizes of Micro (AAA) or Mignon (AA). FEATURES Plug-in charger with wide-range input for worldwide use; Individual charging circuit for each battery; Continuous battery testing in order to detect short-circuit or high resistant batteries; Automatic start of charging at contact with the battery; NiCd as well as NiMH batteries can be charged at the same time; The batterys charge status before start of charging is not important; A microprocessor monitors each rechargeable batterys voltage during the whole charging period; Constant supervision of voltage levels and termination of fast charge by delta V method and safety timer; Automatic switch-over to trickle charging; Charging times depend on capacity of the cells; Optional discharging by push button; after that automatic switch-over to charging mode; Status display via LEDs DISPLAY LED red (1): This LED indicates that fast charging of at least 1 of the cells is in operation. LED green (2): There are a total of 4 green LEDs, each one is allocated to a charging slot. If one of these green LEDs ashes slowly (1x per second), the battery associated to it is being fast charged. If a green LED lights continuously, that battery has been fully charged and is now provided with trickle charge in order to keep it topped up without losing capacity. If a green LED ashes quickly (4x per second), the charger has detected a battery defect; the charging current in this chamber is switched off. A distinctive feature of these 4 LEDs is the moving bar effect display from the right to the left, which indicates the discharging process for all batteries. Discharge button (3): Press this button (PRESS) for approx. 2 seconds to start the discharging process of the rechargeable cells. ATTENTION!
This charger is designed for charging of rechargeable nickel-cadmium and nickelmetal-hydride batteries. Danger of explosion if other types of batteries such as disposable, are inserted. CAUTION Keep the charger in a dry place (indoor use only). In order to avoid the risk of re and/or electric shock, the unit must be protected against high humidity and water. Do not use the charger if there are signs of damage to the plug, housing or connectors. Never open the charger. In case of a defect please return to an authorised dealer. OPERATION Plug the charger into a convenient mains socket and place the battery/batteries into the battery charging chambers. The charger will then start automatically. The cells do not have to be inserted simultaneously as the charging circuits are completely separate for each cell. When charging is nished, the batteries are provided with a trickle charging current and they can remain in the charger until use without being overcharged or losing capacity. If you want to discharge the cells, press the discharge button (PRESS) for approx. 2 seconds. After the discharge of all batteries (which can take up to 8 hours) or after the mains power is temporarily disconnected, the charger automatically switches to charging. A certain amount of heating of the batteries during charging is normal. Remark: If the unit is subjected to severe electrostatic interference the charger may prematurely switch to fast charging during the discharging mode. If this occurs move the charger away from the cause and press the discharge button again to restart the discharging process. ENVIRONMENT Rechargeable batteries are not to be disposed of in domestic waste. Return used batteries to your dealer or even better to a battery collection point. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING To maintain and clean the unit disconnect it from the mains. Only use a dry cloth for cleaning. In order to guarantee a perfect function of the charger keep the contacts inside the charging boxes free of dirt or dust.
