The new Ariston Washing Machine Range
Style for living
Distinguishing features. A design that mirrors a new and refined style.
DESIGN: MAKIO HASUIKE & CO
The central philosophy of M. Hasuikes design is essentiality and harmony combined in a totally distinctive and innovative style. This can be seen in the elegant, rounded, soft lines of the new washing machines, in the unique door and detergent drawer design, in the shape of the control panel and in the other exclusive features. Particular attention to product design aimed at obtaining solid, innovative, functional appliances is an Ariston tradition. The new 2009 collection is aimed at those who wish to be surrounded by distinctive, beautiful objects which add warmth and beauty to the home.
Distinguishing features.
Better Ergonomics
In every detail, Aqualtis offers maximum comfort and extreme ease of use. Characterised by its extra large opening, which opens to the inclined drum, with a wider diameter and higher placement than a standard washing machine making loading & unloading a much easier task.
Woolmark Platinum Care
Ariston has been given the prestigious award, Woolmark Platinum Care from The Woolmark Company, which certifies the washing of every wool item in washing machines, even those with the hand wash only label. With the Wool program you can have the peace of mind of washing the most precious items without any risk of felting, plus the guarantee of an excellent washing performance.
Duvet cycle
You dont need to take your feather duvets, eiderdowns, quilts or padded anoraks to the Dry Cleaners any longer: The Aqualtis has a specific program for duvets. Thanks to this wash cycle, the garments are treated with the necessary care and with the right amount of water, for a deep clean and care for the fabric and quilting.
A+ Class
Aqualtis is respectful and sensitive to the environment in which we live. In fact, not only is its standard of energy efficiency class A+, but it also has the ECO system which, thanks to a luminous LED, indicates when washing personalisation can save at least 10% more power compared to the selected cycle.
Bed & Bath cycle
A single load is enough to wash all bedding and towels for an entire family, saving time and power. For example, to wash 1 set of bedding and 4 towels with Aqualtis, you need just a single washing cycle; whereas with a traditional washing machine, you need 2 washing cycles.
Super Wash
Super wash is the ideal solution to tackle particularly tough stains. Through an electronic control module, Aqualtis, thanks to the Dynamic Wash System, is capable of detecting with precision the quality and type of laundry, determining the right balance of water, temperature and number of revolutions of the drum, to give you an incredible result.
Mini Load
Aqualtis adapts itself with extreme flexibility to every demand: with the Mini Load option for everyday washing, it is possible to get great results for small loads too, saving up to 25% water and 40% power.
Easy Iron
With the special Easy Iron option, Aqualtis is capable of choosing the best washing and spin conditions for a specific fabric. If the laundry is not unloaded immediately, the drum spins slowly and at regular intervals until it is turned off. This reduces to a minimum the formation of creases to facilitate and speed up any following ironing process.
Shirts cycle
The program created specifically for shirts allows you to wash them with extreme care and with the guarantee of easier ironing. Thanks to a specific rotation of the drum and the correct amount of water, it eliminates the risk of creases, respecting colours and fabric.
Super Silent
Thanks to the new Super Silent system, characterised by the three-phase brushless motor, a suspension system capable of absorbing any vibration and by noise-absorbing panels, Aristons washing machines ensure outstandingly ultra-low noise levels, our Aqualtis range being the quietest washing machines on the market.
Protecting the environment
5 Star Rating Aristons new 8.5 kg Aqualtis washing machine (Model AQXXD 149 H) has been awarded a 5 Star water efficiency rating by the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme of Australia. This makes it the highest rating washing machine available in Australia. The WELS rating scheme complies with all the relevant requirements set out in the Australian Standard MP64 manual of assessment procedures for water efficient products. Most Ariston washing machines have achieved a 4.5 or 4 star rating which by definition, have a very high level of water efficiency. This means that you will not only be saving money on running costs, but you will also be helping to conserve a precious resource - water.
Delay Timer
It is possible to program your machine to start anytime throughout the day or night (up to 24 hours in advance) when it is more convenient for you, or when electricity costs less.
30min Fast Wash
Refreshes lightly soiled garments quickly with excellent results.
Child Lock
Safety goes a step further with Aqualtis; a separate button that locks off the controls of the machine so accidental changes cannot be made, especially important when children are around.
Book opening door - Inclined drum
Loading and unloading has never been so easy: Aqualtis makes your posture while loading and unloading natural and comfortable, thanks to the door which opens completely like a book; to the drum access porthole with a 35cm diameter and the drum with an inclination of 8 degrees. Extraordinary ease of access adding to better visibility.
A safer dispenser
Being located inside the door, the dispenser ensures higher safety, being out of the reach of children.
A more intuitive programming
The display, being integrated into the door, has a new and easier interaction logic. Working from left to right, for a more methodical selection process of the options. An in-depth study, which involved 1 million people around Europe, allowed us to define the interface types that better respond to the demands of every segment of our consumers. The (LCD) Liquid Crystal display offers suggestions on the selection of the washing cycle and extra information on the cycles themselves, making programming easier and storing up to 4 personalised programs that can be recalled with a single button. It has never been so easy! The Digital display ensures all the functionality of high technology, but with ease of use. The LED display has the style of a traditional interface, with the functionality of a higher specification model.
Washing Machines
No more stains, no more pain
Even the most stubborn stains disappear without having to pre-wash thanks to the special bleach cycle in the AQXL 95 washing machines which integrates the selected program increasing the additives cleaning power. And above all there is no need to pre-wash by hand.
As soft as silk
Thanks to the Silk program, machine washing a silk garment as if it were a cotton item will become a completely normal action.
Controlled results
Your washing machine is constantly monitored in order to ensure best washing results thanks to Sensor System - a series of control systems.
Information at a glance
Aristons new washing machines now feature easy to read displays allowing you to not only check what stage theyre at during the washing program but also how much time is remaining before the end of the cycle.
Opens at your command
The Easy Door Lock function lets you open the door without having to wait whenever you decide to stop the program in complete safety.
Quicker than ever washing times
Aristons new washing machine has been designed to reduce the length of all its wash cycles by 30%. With perfect final results every time thanks to the alterations made to the wash cycles which enable them to make the best use of the detergents cleaning power. So the wash will be finished before you realise it.
Open to all
Loading your Ariston washer has never been easier thanks to a very generous 35 cm opening on the Aqualtis range and 30 cm available on all standard washing machines, loading your bulky items will never be a struggle again.
Detergent free too
You will not find any traces of detergent which may ruin your garments or irritate sensitive skin. The special Extra Rinse option lets you add a further rinse level to the selected program in order to get rid of all traces of detergent.
No room for a separate dryer?
Thanks to the more advanced and sophisticated technology, Ariston is even closer to your desires with the new washer dryer. Gone are the times when it was necessary to wash and dry the laundry in two separate loads, wasting time and energy. Ariston reacts to your desires and its technology fulfils them.

Wash and Dry up to 4.5 Kg
The Ariston washer dryer opens new horizons. It is able to wash and dry 4.5 kg of laundry in one process, sparing you the trouble of having to wash and dry in two separate loads. This is made possible by a thermo-centrifuge phase that extracts a significant percentage of water during the drying phase and a series of sensors able to keep the temperature steady. Once again, Aristons innovations are everything you have come to expect.
Two levels of automatic drying
With a sophisticated system of sensors, the new washer dryer lets you set two different drying levels: IRON: laundry is slightly damp and easy to iron; CUPBOARD DRY: laundry is perfectly dry; Just turn the knob to the level desired to automatically have the kind of drying that best suits your needs.

Unpacking and levelling
Unpacking
1. After removing the packaging, check over the machine for any signs of damage during transportation. If it has been damaged, contact the retailer from where you purchased the product, do not proceed with installation or using the machine. 2. The 4 transit bolts (and their spacers) used to fix the drum during transportation need to be removed (see figure). Use a 10mm socket or adjustable wrench. While unscrewing the bolts, hold the spacers to help prevent them falling to the floor, otherwise collect them later. 3. Having removed the 4 bolts and spacers, insert the 4 plastic blanking plugs in their place to cover the 4 holes. 4. The 4 bolts and spacers will need to be stored in a safe place as you will need to re-insert them for future transport to prevent damaging the inside of the machine. If installed by another party, you can check if transit bolts have been removed simply by opening the door, pull and push the stainless steel drum forward and back, it should move freely. If this is not the case then the transit bolts must be removed before use. Failure to remove the transit bolts will cause serious damage to your machine during use.
Levelling
Before connecting the inlet hose to the hot and cold water supply, allow the water to flow from the tap until it runs clear.
1. Connect the end of the water inlet hose (blue hose for cold, red hose for hot) to the washing machine, screwing it onto the appliance's hot and cold water inlets (C for cold and H for hot), situated on the top righthand side on the rear of the appliance (see figure). 2. Before making the connection, allow the water to run freely until it is visibly clear. Connect the supply pipe to the water mains using a gas 3/4 (20mm) attachment, fitting the rubber gasket and the filter supply with the appliance and ensuring that they are firmly tightened to the taps. The pipe marked C (blue) must be connected to the cold water tab; the pipe marked H (red) must be connected to the hot water tap. Both pipes may be connected to the cold water tap using the special Y connection with multiple attachments, supplied with the appliance (see figure above). 3. Ensure that there are no kinks or twists in the hoses, and slowly turn on water and check for leaks. When pushing machine back in position ensure hoses are not obstructed.
1. Position the washing machine on a level and sturdy floor, without resting it against walls or cabinets. 2. If the floor is uneven, the feet of the appliance may be adjusted until it reaches a perfectly horizontal position (the angle of inclination must not exceed 2 degrees).
The water pressure at the tap must fall within the values If the water inlet hose is not long enough, contact a Always use the new water inlet hoses supplied with This machine is not designed to be connected to a

Drainage Connection
65 - 100 cm
Connect the outlet hose to a draining duct or a stand pipe at a height between 65 and 100 cm from the floor. Do not bend it under any circumstances.
The cable should be replaced only by authorised technicians.
Warning! The company shall not be held responsible for any incidents that occur if these regulations are not observed.
Alternatively, place the end of the hose over the edge of a washbasin or tub, fastening the hose supplied to the tap (see figure). The free end of the hose should not remain immersed in water.
We advise against the use of hose extensions; if
absolutely necessary, the length of the extension must not exceed 150 cm and its diameter must be the same as the original hose.

Wash options
To bleach the laundry, insert extra compartment 3 (supplied with the 1 appliance) into compartment 1 and 2 measure out the bleach, taking care not exceed the MAX level indicated on the central pivot. To bleach clothes during a wash cycle, set thedesired programme ans select the "Bleaching" option. To run a vleach cycle on its own, set the "Durable Rinse Cyle" (for cotton fabrics) or "Delicate Rinse" (for synthetic fabrics) and select the "Bleaching" option.
Bleaching
When using the Silk programme, the machine will end the cycle while the laundry is soaking and the Reduced creases indicator light will flash. To drain the water so that the laundry can be removed, press the START/PAUSE button or the Reduced creases button.
This option is not compatible with the Wool, Durable Spin, Delicate Spin and Draining programmes.
Extra Rinse This programme increases the efficiency of the rinse phase and ensures that a greater amount of detergent is removed. It is particularly recommended for skin types that are sensitive to detergents. We recommend this programme is used when the washing machine is full or when a large amount of detergent has been used. This option is not compatible with the Fast Wash, Durable Spin, Delicate Spin and Draining programmes. Rapid Reduces the duration of the wash cycle, while making it possible to save water and electricity. It is may not be enabled for the Fast Wash, Silk, Wool and Partial programmes. Note: this option cannot be activated if the Wash Intensity function is in the position LOW (the led of the Rapid option will lighten and then turn off). If you wish to activate this option select the positions NORMAL or HIGH of the Intensity.
This option may not be used in conjunction with the
"Fast Wash", "White & Prewash", "Silk", "Durable Spin", "Delicate Spin" and "Drain".
Reduced creases If this option is selected, the wash and spin phases will be adjusted accordingly so that fabric creasing is reduced. At the end of the cycle the drum of the washing machine will spin slowly; the Reduced creases and START/PAUSE indicator lights will flash. To end the cycle, press the START/PAUSE button or the Reduced creases button.
Detergents and laundry
Detergent
The type and quantity of detergent used depends on the type of fabric (cotton, wool, silk.), its colour, the temperature of the wash, the level of soiling and the hardness of the water in the area. Measuring out the detergent carefully will avoid accidental spills and help to protect the environment: although they may be biodegradable, detergents contain elements that alter the balance of nature. We recommend: the use of powder detergents for white cotton garments and for pre-wash phases;
Use only detergents designed for Front Load washing
machines, otherwise too much foam may be produced resulting in poor wash performance and possible damage to the internal components of your machine. Liquid detergents must clearly state Low Suds and be suitable for Front Load Washers. Dosage: Due to their lower water consumption, front loaders do not require as much detergent as top loaders.
The detergent must be measured out into the relevant compartment, or into the detergent dosing ball which will be placed directly into the drum of the machine. In this case the Cotton cycle with pre-wash phase may not be selected.
Wool: Ariston is the only washing machine to have obtained the prestigious Woolmark Platinum Care mark of recognition (M.0508) from The Woolmark Company, which certifies the machine washing of woollen garments, where the label states "hand wash (max. 1kg). The wool programme offers you only" peace of mind when washing woollen garments with optimal performance. Wool detergents not specifically stating use with front loading machines should be used only in very small quantities (less than stated) as they can cause too much foaming which will reduce washing performance. Duvets: to wash single duvets (the weight of which should not exceed 2 kg), cushions or clothes padded with goose down such as puffa jackets, use the special "Duvets" programme. We recommend that duvets are placed in the drum with their edges folded inwards (see figure) and that no more than of the total volume of the drum is used. To achieve the best results, we recommend that a liquid detergent is used in conjunction with the detergent dispenser drawer.
Preparing the laundry
Unfold all items of laundry before placing them in the machine.
Divide the laundry according to type of material (the symbol on the garment label) and colour, making sure that whites are separated from coloured garments. Empty all pockets and check for loose buttons. Do not exceed the values indicated in the Table of Programmes, which refer to the weight of the laundry items when they are dry. 1 sheet pillowcase tablecloth bathrobe towel pair of jeans shirt g 200 g 500 g 1200 g 250 g 500 g 200 g
How much does your laundry weigh?
Quilts: to wash quilts with a synthetic outer layer, use the bag provided and set the programme to "Duvets". Stubborn stains: for stubborn stains we recommend pre-treating fabric with a commercial fabric stain remover, carefully following the instructions on the product label.
Load-balancing system
Before every spin cycle, to avoid excessive vibrations and to distribute the load in a uniform manner, the drum rotates continuously at a speed which is slightly faster than the normal washing speed. If, after several attempts, the load is still not evenly distributed, the machine spins at a lower speed than the set frequency. If the load is excessively unbalanced, the washing machine continues at distribution speed only instead of the full spin speed. In order to achieve better load distribution and balance, we recommend that large and small garments are mixed when placing the laundry in the machine.
Washing advice for laundry type
Shirts: use a suitable programme to wash shirts made from different fabrics and in different colours. This will guarantee that these garments are looked after properly. Silk: use the gentle "Silk" programme designed for silk and delicate garments as this helps to avoid damaging your delicate fabric. We recommend the use of special detergents designed for silk or delicate garments. Curtains: these should be folded and placed inside the bag provided. Use the "Silk" programme.
Precautions and tips
This machine was designed and manufactured in compliance with current international safety standards. The following advice is provided for safety reasons and should be read carefully.
Opening the door manually
If it is not possible to open the porthole door due to a powercut and you wish to hang out the laundry, proceed as follows: 1. Remove the plug from the electricity socket; 2. Make sure that the water level inside the machine is lower than the door opening; if this is not the case remove excess water using the water outlet hose, collecting it in a bucket as shown in the figure; 3. Remove the kick strip on the front of the washing machine using a screwdriver (see figure);
General safety
This appliance was designed for domestic use inside the home and is not intended for commercial or industrial use. The washing machine must be used by adults only, in accordance with the instructions provided in this booklet. Do not touch the machine when barefoot or with wet or damp hands or feet. When unplugging the appliance, always pull the plug from the mains socket; do not pull on the cable. Do not touch the drained water as it may reach extremely high temperatures. Never force the porthole door: doing so may damage the safety lock mechanism designed to prevent the door being opened accidentally. If the appliance breaks down, under no circumatances must you attempt to carry out the repairs yourself. Keep children well away from the machine while it is in operation. If the machine must be moved, work in a group of two or three people and handle it very carefully. Never attempt to move the appliance without the help of another person, because it is very heavy. Make sure that the drum is empty before loading laundry into the appliance.
Disposal
When disposing of the packaging material: observe local legislation so that the packaging may be reused. Disposing of an old washing machine: before scrapping your appliance, cut the power supply cable and remove the appliance door.
4. Using the tab shown in the figure, pull outwards until the plastic brace comes away; pull it downwards until you hear a click, which indicates that the door is unlocked;
5. Open the door; if this is still not possible, repeat the process;
6. Replace the kick strip, making sure that the hooks are positioned in the right slots before pushing the panel towards the machine.
Care and maintenance
Turning off the water and electricity supplies
Turn off the water tap after every wash. This limits wear and tear on the machines water supply and prevents leaks. Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before cleaning it and before performing any maintenance work on it.
remove the plug from the socket.
To access the filter-chamber:
1. Remove the kick strip on the front of the machine using a screwdriver (see figure);
Cleaning the machine
The exterior of the appliance and all rubber parts may be cleaned using a cloth soaked in warm soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasive products. 2. Position a container under the screw cap to collect the drained water correctly (see figure). Expect approximately 1.5 litres if the cycle has finished completely; 3. Unscrew the cover, turning it in an anticlockwise direction (see figure); 4. Clean the inside thoroughly; 5. Screw the cover back on; 6. Replace the kick strip, making sure that the hooks are positioned in the right slots before pushing the panel towards the machine.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer
To remove the drawer, press the lever (1) and pull it outwards (2) (see figure). Wash the drawer under running water; this should be done regularly.
Drum maintenance
Always leave the porthole door ajar to prevent unpleasant odours from forming.
Checking the water inlet hose
Check the water inlet hose at least once a year. If there are any cracks, replace it immediately: the high water pressure used by the wash cycles could cause a cracked hose to split open.
Cleaning the pump
The washing machine is fitted with a self-cleaning pump which does not require regular maintenance. However, it may become blocked due to foreign objects (coins, buttons, hair clips, etc) falling into the filter-chamber that protects the pump. This situation will normally be indicated by Temperature LED 1 (No Heat) & LED 3 (40) been lighted up simultaneously. To clear the blockage, follow the below steps.
Make sure that the wash cycle has finished and
