The Eee PC 904 Makes Its Debut

The ASUS Eee PC 904 netbook has finally made it on the company's official web page. And, although everything about the new ASUS Eee PC has been pretty much clear for quite some time, the product's specifications list is now official. From the looks of it, this is what the Taiwanese manufacturer sees as a competitor to Acer's Aspire One.The 904 model will be made available with either a Linux or a Windows XP operating system, which is pretty much the case with most of the other Eee PC netbooks. However, unlike the latest series of the Eee PC that ASUS launched a few weeks back, this 904 model will not come equipped with Intel's Atom. In fact, it will pack the same processor as the one found on the company's first Eee PC, the 701. Provided with the Celeron M, the new Eee PC will be ready for shipment faster than all of the other Atom-powered netbooks. And that can be explained by the fact that the Atom is still in limited supply.As expected, the new ASUS netbook comes with the same chassis as the Eee PC 1000, but is equipped with an 8.9-inch display, which is capable of outputting images at a 1024 by 600 resolution. The 904 offers 80 GB of storage space on a normal hard disk drive. Its users will also benefit from 2GB of RAM memory and 802.11b/g wireless support. With the built-in 1.3 MP webcam, the 904 is ready to offer its users an excellent Internet experience.Equipped with a 6-cell battery, the new Eee PC 904 can provide its users with a 5h working autonomy. The netbook will weigh in at 1.4kg, but that is probably because of the high-capacity hard drive that has been slapped onto it.The Eee PC 904 is yet to make its debut in stores, but expectations are that it will cost less than the company's Eee PC 901 model.

ASUS Announces Prices and Specs for Its Eee PC 904
Also cuts prices for its Eee PC 901 model
As we presented to you two days ago, ASUTek confirmed the existence of its new Eee PC, dubbed Eee PC 904. Back then, there were few details to talk about except for the fact that it would be made available in the UK and it is going to be equipped with standard hard drive instead of a Solid State Drive.This has changed, as revealed by website What Laptop today. According to them, the Taiwanese manufacturer's new Eee product is going to hit the stores in the next two weeks. The Eee PC 904 is the latest member in ASUS' sub-notebook family, a series of devices that have been designed to bring the very basics in portable computing experience.As expected, the new Eee PC has been built inside the same chassis as the company's 10-inch model, the Eee PC 1000, but provides a 8.9-inch display. This screen size can output 1024 by 600 images, which is the same as the ASUS's Eee PC 901. The advantage of this design is that users will be able to benefit from the more "comfortable", full size keyboard.The new product brings a number of differences, as compared to the other models in the Eee family. For starters, the new Eee PC will not sport an Intel Atom CPU, but rather a 900MHz Celeron M processor. It will be equipped with only 1GB of DDR2 memory and comes with the same storage capacity as the Eee PC 1000, which is 80GB. According to ASUS, its new netbook will weigh no more than 1.4kg.Because of these modifications, the price tag of the new product has been set to 269 or $528, in US currency. The announcement of the new Eee PC 904 is also going to bring a much cheaper Eee PC 901, namely 299, which is approximately US$587.
