| Second Asus motherboard to have issues. One lasted three months and had to send back Twice! (1 Month Down time). One DOA and Newegg was out of stock. I was going to upgrade and get rid of this board but just bought a Radeon X800Pro from Newegg and now it keeps up with the PCIe cards. | |

Leveraging the Intel 865PE chipset to support Pentium D/ Pentium 4 CPU on 800MHz FSB, Dual-channel DDR 400 memory, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, and a full-range of advanced features, the P5P800 SE really delivers a full-value, high-performance solution for today's most demanding tasks. Dual channel DDR technology doubles the bandwidth of your system memory and hence boost the system performance to out perform any memory existing solutions in the market. System bottlenecks are eliminated with balanced architecture and peak bandwidths up to 6.4GB/s. Serial ATA is the next generation ATA specification that provides scalable performance for today and tomorrow. With up to 150MB/s data transfer rate, Serial ATA is faster than current Parallel ATA. The P5P800 SE offers the CPU Lock Free feature, which allows you to adjust CPU multiplier to 14x. The reduction of multiplier value provides more flexibility for increasing external FSB frequency to raise memory bus bandwidth. CPU Lock Free boosts overall system performance by making synchronous modification possible. Enjoy better performance at the same CPU operation speed and improve your system without pushing the CPU to the limit. The P5P800 SE motherboard employees the world's first intelligent audio CODEC. The SoundMAX Digital Audio System is the industry's highest performance and most reliable audio solution for business professionals, audiophiles, musicians, and gamers. SoundMAX Digital Audio System can output 5.1 channel surround sound and features state-of-the-art DLS2 MIDI synthesizer and supports all major game audio technologies. The ASUS P5P800 SE provides convenient connectivity to external home theater audio systems via a S/PDIF-out (SONY-PHILIPS Digital Interface) jack. It allows to transfer digital audio without converting to analog format and keeps the best signal quality. The CrashFree BIOS 2 feature now includes the BIOS auto-recovery function in a support CD. Users can reboot their system through the support CD when a bootable disk is not available, and go through the simple BIOS auto-recovery process. ASUS motherboards now enable users to enjoy this protection feature without the need to pay for an optional ROM.
